I tend to agree that capitalism and the free market (or prioritizing individual liberty over our decent instinct for egalitarianism) is far from perfect. But I also think, from what I've learned, that there really isn't a perfect way for this world, or that it is better than any alternative. Capitalism, after all, has brought more people out of poverty and brought more prosperity to humanity than anything else in human history. We live like kings. Look at China only 10 years ago.

Those who try to discredit OWS justify police brutality are doing so by painting the protestors as thuggish and violent. Shooting at the police gives them a green light to kill with no fear of legal repercussions. Understand that? They will be able to KILL without answering for it.

Passive resistance ended in the ass-whupping of many a protester. Thuggish and violent is what they say they are so they can get away with the escalation they initiated. Character assassination has always been the function of the media, and more "passive resistance" will get them no further than where they were at before.
Nobody shot at any police, but they definitely considered every move they made in the presence of those who can fight back.

@nosferotica1 You're wrong. Every time there was unjust brutality it sparked outrage and drew attention, people across the world are watching and speaking out. Public backlash is more powerful than a few guns, passive resistance has freed a nation from oppression before. They smear OWS as thugs because they KNOW how powerful it will make us if people sympathize and take our side. Leave the violence to the brutes, it only fuels our support from civilized people.
