Bruton reacted quickly after an intense game. He saw one of his teammates getting molested by Beach so he, as Captain, stepped in just as any of them would for him. I just can't see how Beach wasn't ready for it after instigating it. They drop the gloves to square off and the linesmen would break it up before it started. The suspension wasn't worth the punch, but I'd hope it knocked some sense into Beach about the way he plays.
