I always find it funny that in movies about French people the actors have British accents. It's even more funny when they mention England or English people, WITH the English accents even though they're supposed to be French. LOL
I think it's great that all 4 four musketeers have their own individual accents - English, French, american, Irish actor playing French. I love Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich's voices - so sexy. I actually thought the musketeers were a whole lot more attractive than Leo btw, he looked too baby-faced in this movie.
I take it back. Listening to Malcovich and DiCaprio deliver their lines is making my ears bleed. The casting and acting in this movie could only be watched and believed as having been well done, by someone with the intelligence of a sponge. The entire cast and crew should pay people to watch their own garbage.

I wonder if anyone would understand a word if the actors spoke the way they spoke in the 1660s! Royalty-nobility-gentry-abbés alike of both countries normally could speak & learned both languages & would naturally take on the accent of the other to a degree. I should think it's all perfectly normal & not at all ignorant or stupid. This is after all a US/UK production. Personally I just love the way John Malkovich from a very little town in Illinois speaks such concise and elegant English.

I wonder if anyone would understand a word if the actors spoke the way they spoke in the 1660s! Royalty-nobility-gentry-abbés alike of both countries normally could speak & learned both languages & would naturally take on the accent of the other to a degree. I should think it's all perfectly normal & not at all ignorant or stupid. This is after all a US/UK production. Personally I just love the way John Malkovich from a very little town in Illinois speaks such concise and elegant English.

Ya, actually I was thinking the exact same thing, whenever hollywood makes a movie set this far in the past or even further back, the people always have british accents. I don't know if its stupidity or ignorance.

i think the only reason they do that is to not have people in the past speaking w/ american accents vs. french (what they are really supposed to be speaking in France obviously)
