  • This reminds me of my early teenage years! I miss the 80's

  • This was a top tune in it's day,i was 19 in 1981 and had been running round Londons west end for a few years ,yes the music of today is nothing compared to the 12'' discs of yesterday,i too miss those lyceum nights but i remember that gradually the clubs and the music started to loose their appeal for whatever reason and we all started to move on with the times>Where we all ended up i think has left us all looking back to the 70s and 80s as somewhere we can only visit here in our heart & mind

  • the music of today like lil wayne and souljah boy is an example of generational failure! nobody passed the baton.

  • @jetswim. I bought this version from itunes a few years ago. Sadly the hard drive it was on died. But you can download this version from here.

  • funny.... i was made n the 80's! lol

  • Why didn't we realize how good those times were?

  • This is a remix. The original has a more innocent feel to it, this one is rough and tumble but it is the better version. That "Don't ever wanna come down, down, down.... use to drive me crazy. My first introduction to Shep Pettibone's remixes.

  • Damm....take me back to the eighties please !!!!!!!

  • Come on ya'll lets put our heads together and invent a time machine so we can go back to the 80's! Man do I miss those days when the music was real good.

  • oh yes... great tune from a great time and genre - played this and other greats at underground parties in Bristol (South UK) in the late 80's - tune!

  • i loved skyy when i was a teen back in the 80"s.what happened to them?

  • @homohemuli2: You bet!

  • from the bakery to the cakery, gonna eat it all nite

  • To coin a Morris Day phrase, "This dance ain't for everybody...only the SEXY people." Long live Skyy and soul and R&B!

  • Still a jam today classic for the grown and sexy people. Where is the music today?

  • Man this song brings back memories, I can't believe i forgotten about this band, I get chills just listening to this. Man this was true music to the core. Music like this gave you inspiration, help you take on challenges in everyday life, expanded your imagination. I remember in the clubs I would be soaked in sweat dancing my ass of. I was about 21 back then. The music, the girls, oh man, i wish i could go back in time.

  • yo1 i love this jam, this must party music.

  • it'a great song that touched my soul when i was barely 8 years old

  • The Music Industry Must Believe We Are Dead ''The R&B Generation''

So, They Promote Music That Bends and Warps The Minds of our

YOUTH. Music like This Was Ment For All Generations and Ages.

R&B Could Never Die Its Part of Being Black

  • @BlackPride1000

Actually, I think it is part of being alive.....

You don't have to be black to love tunes like this!

  • Just heard on the radio and I remember all these days...

    Great song!!!

I agree with all of you and too much junk these days...

  • WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT BACK THEN IN THE EARLY 80'S, THAT GREAT R&B MUSIC LIKE THIS, WOULD BECOME A THING OF THE PAST.....THATS WHY I HOLD ON TO EVERY SONG I CAN GET A HOLD OF.... GREAT MEMORIES FOR ME GROWING UP.......!!!!!!!

  • The lead signer of Skyy his brother use to live in New River(Jacksonville,NC) He drove a yellow VW bettle...Think I'm lieing do your homework. -Grice;Poindexter-

  • Wow....i was a kid!!

  • Ya'll don't know bout this! LOL

  • Just dont make good Groups anymore I ready to go back in time and live these old good days Best Believe

  • What year is this song from? 1981?

  • I love this song!! I couldn't remember the name of the group that song it!!

  • I remember when they did this song on Soul Train. Don Cornelius couldn't keep his eyes off the full figured sista! lol

  • I,ll probably still be listening to this in another 20 years and will still sound the funkiest number produced

  • What's up Tina, the back of 24 Stone Ave REMEMBER!!!

  • i almost wanna cry.this is when music was so carefree and loving

  • Another one..I have forgotten all about Skyy.

Music like this only comes around once in a life time..

  • Fresh ass bass!

  • This group was SUPER relevant on the airwaves (radio) and in the clubs! They had so many hit records. I doesn't hurt that they were from NY and had swagger!!

  • @feistychick70 relevance on the AIRWAVES not much of that these days.Jill Scott.

  • the LET'S CELEBRATE version released on radio was a secondary mix by SHEP PETTIBONE in 1982.The original , by Francois Kevorkian ,was put in the archive because it had more of an r&b groove and at the time it was felt that a "DISCO" dance beat would be more of a crowd pleaser. This song is so good that either one would have burned up the charts!

  • Another monster hit from the Spring of 1982.

  • WOW, i havent heard this one sinc like 80 or something like that

  • Skyy out of Brooklyn N.Y.

  • le méga top délire avec le titre "call me" sur l'album , je trouve la version maxi moins bonne que sur l'album

  • FUNKY

  • 50 cent juices lol i remember those 25 cent little juices back then

  • BLS and KISS use to crush this song. they were not to be f--k with when it came to mixes.

  • This remind me of roller skating dayz in NYC when the SKATE KEY was the hang out and 98.7 kiss was there. STILL a GREAT JAM.

  • shep pettibone master mix...ny stand up

  • OBAMA, 11/04/08

  • Hell yeah

  • I remember listening to this back in the day and it still remains one of the best songs of all time. Skyy was so incredible! When I DJ'd back in the 70's and 80's this was a great song to mix with. I'd always mix it with Kano or Sylvester, etc.

  • OBAMA!

  • A hit to remember from back in da days, forever & ever!

  • Most of the music of back then you can listen to forever, cuz it was made by humans, not by computers.

Not that computerized music can't be rememberable, but it has to be a very good composition to withstand time.

Acoustics are far more pleasant for the ear.

  • all i can picture is me on some rollerblades with some 80s shorts lol and moving all around !!!!!

  • When I hear the echo in the word 'Down' all I can say is, "damn those were the days" at Skate City in Wallace, NC.

  • The only band who could compare with Slave..

  • After listening to this song, tell me you are not now under the influence of funk......

  • LBMAAS, oh hell yes im FUNKTOXICATED thanks to skyy now "lets celebrate" the presidents inauguration for 2009

  • it's funny how people forget just how great of a band skyy was. the music and the hits don't lie.

  • if only l could turn back time.these were truely best days of my life.

  • All I can say is that this is Real Music

  • let's celebrate by drinking some beers

  • Funk yeah!!!

  • It isn't really talked about how good Skyy was with it's guitar work. This piece--because of the two dueling axes as the rythym line--is a stunning piece of music. Aside from the fact that it's just a flat-out wild piece of funk...

  • black people lets celebrate, truly great cut

  • Classic!!!!!

  • Skyy had it goin' on...it's the guitars on this that just made this jam what it is...

  • This jam came out when I was in high school and it's so good that I'm not the only person that enjoys real music.

  • Alright people....we need to remember that while we no longer here this type of music...the music of today is the music of today. What pisses me off how we allowed the "musicians" to fade away and accept the sequenced music in the mid 80's which was the pre-cursor to the lack of musicians that we hear...or don't hear today. Why are we so surprised...we did it!

  • I had my first kiss when this was out. WOW the memories!!!I whis I could go back into time. THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS CLASSIC!

  • you see, it's not so difficult to play music, real music, good music...

What's happening to the musician of today?
