  • I love the kicked over tumbling milk bottle on the opening - genius!

  • No one here could possibly understand how important The Smiths were 2 me growing up! Love, Peace @ Harmony to you all <3 muah :)

  • Not many bands go out at the peak of the powers. The Smiths did.

  • Morrissey on the piano - who does he thin he is Elton John? (kidding)

  • nice video :

  • The death of a disco dancer

Well, it happens a lot 'round here

    And if you think Peace

    Is a common goal

    That goes to show

    How little you know

  • The death of a disco dancer

Well, I'd rather not get involved

I never talk to my neighbour

    I'd rather not get involved

    Oh ...

  • Love, peace and harmony ?

The death of a disco dancer

The death of a disco dancer

  • What a great band.

  • i used to listen to this when i was tripping on lsd, thats how much i love this song

  • I was a disco dancer until i found out that love, peace and harmony wasn't in every ones agenda.

  • Love, peas and gravy...

    oh very nice.

  • still loving it! long live the smiths

  • "Remember back in the early to mid eighties when the New York club scene was hot, due mainly to the work the 'Club Kids' did ? Well, in my opinion, this song may be a subtle reference to the death of one of those 'kids'-the person charged with the murder...'Angel'?...the victim..I cannot recall..."I'd rather not get involved!"-great tune!!!

  • "The Smiths are undoubtedly one of the quintessential bands from the post punk British invasion 0f the late 70's. This is one example of their awesome 'darkly romantic' themes which weave their way throughout their 'repertwat'?...whatever...you get what I mean..."

  • Very nice.

  • william

  • god bless Mr. Marr

  • 27 pints of very dodgy HB one of my top nights

  • Back in HS, my gf hooked me up with this tune. Neither of us had no idea who it was. Or when it came out. The quality was so bad, it coulda been 70s! So now I look it up here and it's The Smiths?!? Whoa.

  • Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke deservedthe same credit that Tommy Stinson and Bob Stinson deserve from The Replacements.

  • The perfect blend of alternative inventiveness and jam band freedom...

  • An epic song that is somewhat flawed in the last part where it seems to get to nowhere.

  • While My Guitar Gently Weeps

  • i grew up on Smiths too..love how his lyrics could mean whatever you interpreted them to be.. this song reminded me of the cruel irony of AIDS in the gay community around that time.. not sure what it means for real, but that was the drab over-the-top, cliche message i get from the lyrics.. like he's really balking at the gay community and their cheerless embrace of sex (and death) how fuckin' cool!

  • SOoo good. So slow and building, but the message is so universal. LIfe, living, what happens. Its all there. The 80's had the best music... "I've seen this in other peoples lives, and now its happening in mine..." that still kills me - they were awesome

  • "Love, peace and harmony -- oh, very nice, very nice, very nice, very nice, very nice, -- but maybe in the next world..."

  • "Love, peace and harmony -- oh, very nice, very nice, very nice, very nice, very nice, -- but maybe in the next world..."

  • I'm in love with those drums. <3

  • @kevo32312 Mike Joyce really got to stretch out on this one. On almost all of the other songs he plays strictly in the pocket.

In my opinion he and Andy Rourke are the most under-rated rhythm section in the history of rock. They made that band, but they were overshadowed by Morrissey and Marr. Alas.

  • How good is mike joyce and Morrissey at the end of the song.EPIC.

  • well-- i'd rather not get involved.

  • two people come to show how little they know :)

  • 'love peace and harmony.

    well, very nice,

maybe in the next world.' - Morrissey

  • Heh. There isn't pop music without The Smiths.

    Ubiquitous fellows.

  • eargasm

  • What an amazing song ! Morrissey is a genius !

  • Is it just me or doesn't this song just make you want to take a lethal dose of heroin or climb into a warm bath and slit your wrists.... But then who could flip on this song to listen to as I'm drifting away?? Psyche!! GOOD SONG.

  • @juliet1978ful

as someone who's kicking heroin right now I'll say it's good for those hopeful emotions too.

That's the weird thing about Mr. Morrissey for me.

  • @porkupine73 hope u got there, be strong

  • @fenyxfury

I'm in a program now and I'm making it, bit by bit. I used today though, after five days of not using. So I start anew tomorrow. Your message--well, I just got it just now, after using, but I have to say that I just love that you wrote that. Thank you very much. :-) Peace, love and strength to you for all your life, and to your loved ones as well. Your hope really touched me. I'll keep it with me, if you please, Fenyx....You are beautiful. Thank you.

  • @porkupine73 thanks for your wishes my friend, and i wish you much success with what IS the biggest fight of your life (for now). KNOW THAT in 3 years you'll look back and won't believe it had this control over you. don't think of the times you still use as 'failure', just recognise them as simply being human. you'll never stop being human and you'll never really be free of the urges, but you will learn how to minimise them and start being happy and proactive. best of luck to you amigo..

  • @fenyxfury I'm doing a lot better now. Finally feeling stable, although I'm taking a medicine that I'd rather be off of, that will come with time. Treating it as the biggest fight of my life is what's making it work, and it IS working. Thanks again.

  • @porkupine73 oh, please tell me your username is inspired by that amazing echo & the bunnymen album!

  • @TheVascoPaiva Yep, it sure is! :)

  • Yes indeed, it is! :)

  • @porkupine73 o: you have great taste man! what other bands are you into? hope you dont mind, im just curious xD

  • The piano on here is played by Morrissey, it's the only musical instrument he ever recorded whilst in The Smiths and possibly his entire career, love the second half of this song!

  • best song ever!

  • there isn't any other way i can say this...i fucking love this song!!

  • just can`t get this tremendous tune out of my head.

  • They just dont write them like The Smiths did anymore

  • this song blow my mind

  • I wanna go out tonight and drop an E;)

  • @viggo0808 Drop an E? After listening to The Smiths?!!!!

  • @teee2 listen to the lyrics! That's what it's about

  • @viggo0808 Its not to do with E's! Listen to the lyrics again.Think when the song was written.

In fact there are many ideas as to what this song is about: gay-bashing and ignorance around AIDS at the time is one of the more popular opinion's.Another suggestion was that it was about the violence surrounding some of the Manchester club scene at the time. There are many more theories.

  • the genius is from 2.53 onwards

  • a great song from a great album

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE PEACE AND HARMONY

VERY NICE... BUT MAYBE IN THE NEXT WORLD

  • Timeless. im 20 and im just getting into morrissey and this is great stuff. thanks for the upload.

  • If you don't own this album (you should) . It is one of the best albums ever! To bad the Smith broke up at the same time this album came out. It would have been fun to see them do alot of the songs off this album live.

  • "if you think peace is a common goal

that goes to show how little you know"

    - ladies and gentlemen, morrissey.

  • @over18 pees luv n armony
