I saw them back in the 70s during the Fandango tour. They had a live Owl on stage perched up on a tree branch. You would think with the loud music the owl would have freaked out. But he just chilled. And of course it was behind the amps. It was in Houston when I was in my teens. This was a really good album. I have every piece of vinyl they ever released. Cool song. Back when hooch was only a ten spot.
@texasmusic I saw them in Austin( inside sleeve of Fandango) and I remember 1 yr in Houston they had buzzards, longhorn and I think some snakes. It was one of their first Thanksgiving shows they used to do there. I remember $10 cans and $100 lb which was more like 20 oz....
What is the chance of you taking your cassette tape of Rio Grande Mud and putting up It Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell. When they remastered they cut out the best part of the lead in that song.
I'm so happy that the masterpiece (Tejas) is finally being appreciated by people like you, 2010Joe54, that take the time to share what I consider the greatest music of ALL-TIME!!!
This sounds like the "original" recording before the "remastered" version came to be. I have to break out the old vinyl to get the original sound. Where on earth did you find this version. I would love to have the original recording on cd or mp3 format. Thanks!
@pottery1182 - This is from my cassette, like you said, the original. Download 'free you tube to MP3 converter' follow the instructions & this track can be yours. Glad you like it.
Oh my god, I forgot about this song...Those guys rocked hard back in the day. Best thing is, they've still got the mojo burnin'. I'd pay good money to see them play again, and especially if they played some of this old Tejas stuff. Billy Gibbons picks the coolest notes when he plays. He's one-of-a-kind, that's for sure.
Frankferter and the drummer, Stew Copeland, are just fantasticly fun up the side of the head listening, they are brothers kinda. Crazy praise.

Lol, it still sounds like ZZ TOP. They've improved with age. 1 finely tuned music machine.

@pottery1182 where was that pic taken of them in an auditorium near the beginning of the vid?

@pottery1182 Howdi. Think this is on the box set that came out in 2003 - Chrome, Smoke & BBQ. The '70s tracks on it all had the original mixes

this was totally before the 80s killed the groove, back when they let their guitars do the talking instead of stupid outfits.

@classictull1966 Right on!. All that unneccessary reverb and shit. totally sucked the punch out of their sound. Then came those awful synths. UGH!
