okay, i am turning 17 on the 15th, a friend of my moms gave me his kx500 as a early present, i have never rode a dirtbike in my life, i told my dad and he told me that it was a dangerously fast bike, and the guy i was sponsored for when i raced BMX told me he raced the same bike for 5 years and he calls it the devils bike and that i was ganna kill myself, should i sell it and buy a 250 or 125? or try and learn to ride it? keep in mine, never rode a dirtbike before, and i weigh 185 pounds

Welcome to bigbores! Just got to have throttle control and its pretty easy to ride'em. No need for a clutch you can go up a hill at idle! Its like cheating.  You just can never get out of first gear in the woods, especially with my 83 490 4 speed, its got such a wide gear spacing, first gear does almost 40mph. my 82 is geared a bit better for woods.

The KX is fun and probley better on big hills but its not a slicer & dicer in the trails Thats where the RM shines and thats my favorite riding So I will have to keep both. ..Darn it: )

It is awesome!has no bog and No clutching needed to find revs you just turn the throttle You can also ride it around a gear higher like stealth mode and then when you open it up it covers ground really fast
