  • A lot of Brook's early recordings suffered from bad stereo. A real shame and dis-service to the man.

  • last time i heard this song was in oregon in 1980 but loved it then as i do now

  • By far The Best!!! Brook Benton song of all of them!!

  • Does anyone else have problems hearin' the words to this song? I usually

listen to Tommy Steele's version to hear what he is singin'. That bein' said

I do appreciate you postin' it.

  • @johnmorris008 John this song was recorded in split stereo ,where the vocals are only on one channel ,if you happen to be listening in mono , you may only be listening to the track with no (or very low) vocals on it .

  • @janschro Thank you, you are right. The song comes in perfectly on my wife's computer.

Appreciate the info and the post.

  • I haven't heard this since 1962, I wish the words were out in front of the music

so I could understand them better. Thanks for postin'.

  • Thank you so much - I'd forgotten what a great song this is. Haven't heard it for many years. Takes me back to my early teens.

  • My late mum used to play this in the 70s. Reminds me of her. The good old days xxxx

  • My cousins and I would play this song...every one of us having a part.."now here's the beat..." "and here's the song"... and we would perform for our parents.. It was so much fun. Check out the Bo weavel song.

  • tommy steele covered this in the uk. brookes version is infinitely better.

  • Great tune and I liked the video too.

  • I have been searching for this for so long.

    Brings back memeories

    Finally on You Tube

    Thanks.

  • Classic Man, Right On!

  • ***** !

  • This is the one of a few recordings that was made in what was called split stereo, where one mic was used for certain sounds and the other mic was for secondary sounds.. more like front and rear on a QUAD recorder.. It sounds real good!! If this recording was a pressed copy (LP) It would be both stereo and mono playback compatable.

Oh yes B.B Sing it!! May you sing to the stars above.

  • Yes, I'm from those glorious and long gone days... This songs reminds me of my own childhood in the 60s... Beautiful memories...

  • Awesome video for a great song. He can sing. I use the slogan, 'That's all I need and to make a hit record' whenever the feeling hits me and this song is the source.

    John

  • And John, very clever and amusing montage of pics to go with the narrative!! Again, thanks much!

  • Your most welcome Fran ,it was a childhood favourite of mine ,took me ages to find it and I'm glad there is someone else who loves this song

    Cheers John

  • OMG!!!! Someone FINALLY posted this amazing song! It's always been neglected and has remained in obscurity since its release in 1961, in favor of B.B.'s more famous hits. I only had a faint recording on my old reel to reel tape recorder. I thank you, "Janschro", from the bottom of my heart!!!

  • great voice......
