  • Excellent tutorial

  • I have a question so i own the mcpx and when I took it out of the box and went to fly it I noticed when giving it throttle at a mid power lvling it is shakey also it seems the gear off the main roger blazed that goes to the motor seems to have quite a bit of play up and Dow and seems like it is barly on the pinypn gear how do i fix that?

  • page 5 in the manual says to charge your 200 mAh battery at 0.7 amps.

  • I have one of the 9958's it's also a very fun heli to fly. Beware, it's Fast. You can set it to low ratemby pressing themleftmstick down after you turn it on.

  • Thank you for your videos.

You say the mCP X is not a beginners heli, do you mean that for someone without any heli flying experience, because I'm looking for something indoorsy to replace my coaxial heli. If this is too agile for collective pitch beginners, than what should a CP novice like myself buy?

  • @Grrrrrene i would suggest u get the 9958 fix pitch. a lot cheaper than this.. it's a 4 channel...

  • @Grrrrrene I would not jump from a cosxial heli to a cp heli it would buy a fix pitch single rotor heli such as the msrx or sr 120 but if u choose to buy this heli be careful inside you house because it is a hot rod. I fly mine outdoors or in large indoor areas. if u fly it is small areas it basicaly just hovering around ... wats the fun in that.

  • Why does the Manuel say to charge the batteries at .7 amps and you say to charge them at .3 amps. Just wondering who is right.

  • can somebody please tell me what idle up mode is???

  • @christosioannides Idle up is when your rotor head speed is constant and the only thing that changes is your pitch as you move your throttle/pitch stick. You must use when doing anything upside down including flips.

  • nicee! hey can this heli invert?? ty :)

  • i just got the mcpx and i noticed that the helli had alot of vibrations. i tried to tigthen the blades and it helped a litte but still not enough. you got anny advice?

  • @ingz1993 - I get this type of question a lot. It's hard to exactly diagnose a heli without seeing and inspecting it firsthand. The usual cause of vibration is the blades being out of balance, but there are other things that could be causing it which I could just continue naming off. Make a detailed video of it if you really want a more accurate diagnosis.

  • call me dumb but after binding my dx6i with the mcp x"using the manual" it still wouldn't fly, then watching you say the throttle trim needs to be all the way down it now fly's.but squirrel y.could use advise on learning to control this heli.a video on dx6i settings would be great.and i been flying my msr,120sr for a while, just cp jitters

  • @dosklown - Please see the comment I just responded to on my settings.

  • what seting do you have on your dx6i

  • @ben2542 - My low dual rates are at around 50% for both A+E with about 30% expo (indoor flying), and the 'high' rate is set at 100% with 0% expo. I can't really give you pitch and throttle curves because I don't know how your linkages are set up. But I can tell you that in idle up my blades are 0° pitch at mid stick, my throttle curve is flat at 100% throughout, and the pitch curve is linear from 0 at low position to 100 at high position i.e. 0, 25, 50, 75, 50.

  • @ben2542 - Rather that's 0, 25, 50, 75, 100

  • I just got one of these ani it didn't take me but a few minutes to box it back up an keep flying my 120 sr for awhile longer.

  • @buger7700 - It's definitely a handful compared to the 120. The mCPX is fast. One thing you might try is turning your 'low' dual rate down to 50% for aileron and elevator and give it about 30% 'soft' expo. It'll slow everything down quite a bit. And before any of the Einsteins say anything, yes this will give you less correction response too. But the idea of the lower rate is to help avoid getting into an over correction loop in the first place.

  • thanks for the video!

there's a bit of a confusion about the battery installation. the manual says to push it all the way into the holder.

im a bloody beginner and didn't fly yet, so i have no experience how the helicopter should be balanced. can anybody please help me with this?

  • @kingdakapu - The manual is correct, just push it all the way to the hilt. It should be balanced properly at that point.

  • It's so funny because I know your right but the manual says to charge the 200 mAh at 0.7 amps

  • @iseldoff - The manual wants you to have to buy more Eflite batteries.

  • its a deal

  • unless you are affiliated whith Lockheed Martin's Advanced Development Programs, you should not be using the name skunkworks...

  • sometimes when im alone i cover myself in vasoline and pretend im a slug

  • @ZBrownskii lemme pour salt on you then ...

  • Does a DX5e have enough channels of this helicopter?

  • @rcplanefunguy1212 - The DX5e is a 5 channel so yes.

  • i subbed :D

  • i just got mine but i cant get it to go into stunt mode/idle up , can you help?

  • @jameshoffmandude - If you're using the stock TX it's the button on the upper left hand side on the controller.

  • yay!! thanks?

  • @silverbk911 - Thanks :)

  • @silverbk911 - Welcome :)

  • I've had the mCPx for 1 week now and i'm getting a bit annoyed with it.

My tailservo almost burned on day 1, i took off the battery before it got too hot. Second, it vibrates alot but that maybe due to the servo almost getting fried. Third, the servo's are not functioning properly after a while, the right one is stuck sometimes and the tail and right-one bounce up and down. I hardly crashed it but the controls become unstable due to the servo-issues.

They need cleaning after a few days?

  • @sonykroket - Are you referring to the tail motor? The mCPX doesn't have a tail servo. If your other servos are getting jumpy you might want to clean them. That usually helps.

  • @CrazyHeliDude

    I meant, the rearservo.

I already cleaned them, check my vids as i received 2 new servos from Horizon.

  • cheers for vid really clear liked you approach

  • @fridgewater3 - Thank you.

  • The manual says that you can charge it at .7 amps. Do you think that was a typo, bad advice, or what? (Just wondering).

  • @Wwallace67 The guy at the hobby shop i go to says .7 is the best charge rate,

  • @MinizStu - The guy at the hobby shop wants to sell more batts. You can charge at 700ma, your bast will just have a shorter lifespan. These batts are only $10 a piece, so you be the judge.

  • @Wwallace67 - You CAN charge it at 700ma, your batt will just last half as long. What you can do isn't always the best thing to do. IMO I suggest getting more batts and charging them at 300ma.

  • i just received my mcp x in the mail today and did my bind with my dx6i and i notice that the servos make a buzzing noise, now is that normal, because i hear it on yours in the video, let me know please..

  • @209cynical - Yes, this is normal.

  • Why does the manual say to charge 200mah at (0.7)? What about hyperion 240mah?

  • Please someone help :/ mine has had a couple of knocks and its still flys fine, apart from the fact that it shakes quite violently when at certain throttle level. It's gear hasnt dropped because I've had that problem where the gear ricochet's off the bearings when the rotor lifts. I figured that problem out. I think the feathering is ok but I'm not too knowledgable tbh. Any help would be most appreciated. Ty

  • @mickys514 - Is it blade resonance or flexing? Sometimes at a certain RPM the blades can begin to resonate and flutter. This happens because the blades are thin and very wide for their size. Check to see that the blades are in good condition, there are no small cracks etc.

  • cool vid and nice collection. I have the mcx2 and i love my Heli. I probably will get this one next. Peace

  • @fortgreene31 Honestly, if all you have experience on is the mcx2 and want to move to a single rotor, I'd recommend stepping up to the msr or 120 sr. Collective pitch and flybar-less is a huge step from coaxial, and this little bird is fast and can get away from you quickly if you aren't careful. My .02

  • how many times did you actually crash it and covered it up with film slicing...lol

  • @blowmeracing - Haha, I'd like to say I crashed a million times or something but it wasn't that bad. Although the blades did have an encounter with the shamrock plant, which was cut :/ ... The cuts are to cut out the boring parts where the heli is out of frame for too long.

  • I love how at the end he says:

"This is really not a beginner heli"

I am stupid. I hooked it up and was trying to figure out all the DX6i settings myself. Crashed. So READ THE MANUAL!!

I have never flown heli's before, bought a Blade SR, and now the mCP x, within a week of each other. So far so good, LOVE THIS HOBBY!

  • @meairman0386 I bought a blade sr as my first heli, and it wasn't at all as I had thought, I crashed in about 3 sec, lots of damage lmao, 3 months later I can fly noproblem, just doing sport flying, no 3d yet. I did have a 3-ch s107, but that seems more like a toy.

  • Unboxed my RTF mCP X today; followed all the instructions and as soon as the heli picked up the stock Dx4 Tx it shifted right on into sever negative blad pitch. Now, I'm sure it's not supposed to do that. Right? I did a rebind to the Dx4 butno change to the pitch-settings. Frustrating thing is that it arrived in the box with neutral pitch!! What's happening here? Any answers, CrazyHeliDude?

  • @ROBLAG2 Articles 6 and 8 of the binding instructions. Page 7 MCP X instruction manual. The helicopte ris in COMPUTER TRANSMITTER MODE. Sa me thing happened to me.

  • @ROBLAG2 Thanks to ROBLAG2 for received information. Very helpful! Now of course if I'd read the instructions properly in the first place ;-)

I'd like to add here that I am now doing ok with the MCP X GREAT machine with a BIG attitude when flying; don' be fooled by the small size of it. I manage a short hover lasting about 10 secs before I run out of space and fine control. IF you need to rebind the heli for some reason, follow the EXACT steps in the manual. Wont bind if not done right.

  • Excellent video, informative, concise, thanks for a great review!

  • @chiosex - Thank you.

  • Is Horizon Hobby affiliated with E-Flite?

    - Alan

  • @KyDugong - E-Flite is a brand name under Horizon Hobby. However they stopped ascribing that name to their helicopters with the release of the Blade 120 SR, and now simply use the 'Blade' name.

  • Manual picture for battery is wrong - it shows it rammed home - the offsets on the side don't look shown

  • @OghamTheBold - I had noticed that as well. If the battery were rammed that far home the CG would certainly be shifted well forward of the the main rotor shaft.

  • @CrazyHeliDude I noticed that too. Mine flies well though, with the battery in fully home. Am I wrong?

  • Very nice video! Well thought out, informative, and well spoken. Excellent job! Thanks for sharing.

  • @georgewilcken - Thank you. Glad it helped and happy flying!

  • If you have the DX8, you can get the mCP X setup file in the Spektrum community under updates. You can then import it into your DX8. If I remember correctly, the D/R & Expo are set at 70% & 30%. My friend's mCP X flies very stable after downloading this file onto his DX8. When he flew it with the stock transmitter, it was all over the place lol! And he crashed it several times. With that said, it's a night and day difference when you bind it to the DX8 compared to the stock transmitter. Peace.

  • Nice video..... this might be my next Heli.... how much bigger or longer is this compared to the Blade MSR?

  • @erwin15erwin - Thanks. The mSR is about 7 and a half inches long and the mCPX is a little over 9 inches.

  • manual states .7 amps i have tested it up to 1amp works fine at 1amp

  • @Elios0000 thats fine if you dont want your batterys to last very long. i'm charging mine at .3

  • @rotorspeedmax ok so youll get 120 cycles and ill get 100 meh at 10 bucks or less who cares

not like my 6S packs that cost 100 bucks a pack

  • i fly this baby with dx 5 idle up mode is to direct and i got half throttle too on idle up strange no full power and then i crashed it now i'm waiting for parts lol

    grtzz

  • Support Blade products! They keep us in the air;)

  • sorry for all the responses, it did not look like my posts were being posted. Please delete

  • would u recommend this or blade 120sr for fun?

  • @metheblob - If you're a complete beginner I'd say go with the 120 first. It's very stable compared to the mcp X. Both the 120 and mSR are great indoor flyers.

  • Good vid! Did you or have you experienced any wobble and shaking of the heli. I just got one and it does this, not consistently, but sometimes, and the feathering shaft has been replaced already on mine too since it exploded on spool up. Horizon is sending me a new one too.

  • @youtwoba - Thank you. I haven't seen an signs of that yet. Maybe I got lucky with this particular heli as I haven't had many problems with it, just had to adjust the linkages at first and everything was fine.

  • @youtwoba - the tail wobbles (in a stepping motion) in the beginning of the flight and then it seems to go away.

  • I bought one this afternoon (RTF) During preflight testing i noticed that if i idled it up to about half throttle and tried to yaw left (while holding it) the rotor head would just stick there after i returned the stick to neutral position then if i yawed hard to the right it would respond 1-2 seconds late rand stick in that position. I finally used up that battery, so i let the motor cool down while i looked for an explanation.

  • found nothing, put the other battery in and started to test it again at about half throttle,10 seconds later a blade came off an hit me across my glasses. I did check to see if there was play in the grips, as i have heard there is a problem with them coming apart.

I have not had any real big problems with Blade products, as i do own/fly mx, cx2, msr, sr120, SR, and now the mCPX and will continue to do so.

But i'm stumped about this sticking in position issue, faulty gyro or mixer?

  • @shotgunn069 - The blade grip bearings is one of the issues that needs to be addressing. I'll be covering this in my next vid.

  • @shotgunn069 - Are you using the stock or other radio?

  • @CrazyHeliDude the rtr version, stock radio

  • @shotgunn069 - It might be a problem in the radio itself. Do you have another TX you can bind it to to test?

  • @CrazyHeliDude No i dont. I did try rebinding, still the same. Horizon wants to have a look, they told me they will probably send me a new one. I'm thinking its time to upgrade to a better radio, i do like the Blade SR radio. I only wish i could bind them all to that radio..I could wait for the new 450 coming soon i hear, as it has a DX 6i included. I'm not all that confident with the SR just yet..and the DX7 is a better radio. I think i just made my decision!

  • @shotgunn069 - Yes both the DX6i and DX7 are good radios. Since the DX8 has has come out they have been dropping in price a bit. Either one would be good for most helicopters running a Spektrum receiver.

  • @CrazyHeliDude RTR stock radio DX4e

  • @CrazyHeliDude rtr stock radio DX4e

  • RTR stock radio, DX4e

  • The stock radio DX4e, do you think it is a radio issue?

  • @shotgunn069 - It's possible it may be the stock TX. I temporarily rebound mine to my stock TX to see how it would handle it it was giving me some erratic and unpredictable responses.

  • @shotgunn069 - It's possible it may be the stock TX. I temporarily rebound mine to my stock TX to see how it would handle it it was giving me some erratic and unpredictable responses.

  • not even bert kammerer had this much luck ,,so i wonder how many mild crashes you edited out ;-) liked your movie a lot though : )

  • @bassax7045 - There was an incident. I didn't tell my girlfriend, but you may notice a few missing stems on the Shamrock plant. My mCP X played lawn mower :)

  • That swoop down to the floor was Vortex Ring State. Search on YouTube "blade mcp x vortex ring" for a good demonstration and explanation of it.

  • @symawd - Vortex ring state bites. I had to practice it over and over when flying the 206. Begins to shake the helicopter apart before you dive out of it :\
