  • Black person voice > white person voice. And I'm white. Just saying it how it is.

  • @UnitedColorsofTom You speak the truth.

I love the timbre of a black person's voice. It's pretty and unique and... I really can't explain it. You know what I mean, I guess. White people just can't follow up.

Oh and I'm Asian, but it doesn't really matter, does it?

  • @TheWitchdoctr @UnitedColorsofTom I'm guessing neither of you've heard of Dusty Springfield; if not, go check her out, I think you'll like her :)

My little sister finds it deppressing because her favorite song is 'Without love' and I like a sad song. ^^ I try and tell her that this song is my favorite because its basically a main part of the movie and very meaningfull song.^^ I love how Queen Latifah sings it and it will always be my favorite song in the movie, I sing it all the time.

  • Beautiful songg <3 and she makes it better when shes starts crying. Such a great actress (:

  • Ok, the whole Black vs White thing is just ridiculous. I mean, God made us all the same. Of course we all look different, but God made us that way for a REASON, people! He didn't do it to make us try and kill eachother.

Now we all know that God lives in us, and its a sin to murder. But with all the white people and black killing eachother back in the early years, your killing God!!! Not killing killing him, but they killed the body in which God's holy spirit was living in.

  • @MsPerryRocks god is love all the time, to everyone, not part of the time to some people.

  • @KyleOgilvie1 True

  • The first time i really listen close to this song it made me cry. to all who have a problem with the message that this song has shouldnt listen to it if you dont like it. i think most people forget that the time frame for this is in the 60's. but racism is something everyone no matter white, black, asian, hipanic and etc have to face in our lives. it's sad but true when we all are ready to get along the world will be a better place. i love all gods children of all races.

  • any one who disliked this is just racist. Queen Latifah did a beautiful job singing this, and the message that was sent was beautiful to

  • Truly the best song in Hairspray 2007!

  • every time i hear this song i get the chills

  • Who the hell could dislike this song!! If u did then u must be messed up!!

  • @TheRedDevilsrock velma vontussel got her racist family to create six accounts and dislike it.

  • goosebumps

  • My school is preforming Hairspray right now and the girl who sings this song got a standing ovation. She was wonderful.

  • I absolutly LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. i mean i'm white and this is my most favorite song in the history of the world! I dont care if people are black or white or maybe need to lose a few pounds, as in the movie. the lyrics are just so powerful! "use that Pride in our hearts" And "just to sit still would be a sin". I LOVE LOVE it. Everybody should be like tracy.

  • Best quote in eons I heard in this movie..

"a whole lotta ugly from a never ending parade of STUPID"....

  • I love this song =)

  • Queen Latifah is THE SHIT.

  • I'm a skinny little white girl and I'm singing this song for my high school choir as a solo :) I rock at it :) love this song and this movie so much

  • was she really singing? but great song anyways

  • Love, love, love this song. It always brings tears to my eyes. Maybe not this rendition, but it's powerful none the less.

  • search "I know where I've been royal high"... an see a 14 year old from Edinburgh in Scotland singin this ;-)

  • Queen Latifah is legend, idol!

  • love it.

take a look at royal high productions 'harispray' to see an AMAZING 14 year year sing this. thanks. x

  • There was way more white people with them than they show in this video lol They act like NO white people supported equal treatment... Ever heard of the civil war =P

  • @GuamKomudo the civil war was a political move as muc has a racial move. It was more about the south not wanting to be controlled by the federal government.

  • how could people have been so unfair to blacks? my best friend is blackand she cried during this and i told her that things are a bit better now! NO RACIST ALLOWED!

  • Look at history... Every people of every culture have been treated bad by someone. Black people arn't the only ones... Like everyone thinks... Romans captured other white people and made them fight to the death in arenas for entertainment... My people (Japanese) have treated Korean people like shit for a long time, even today in Japan there are signs in stores "No Koreans" "Japanese Only" ect. Thailand and Combodia hate eachother like crazy. Black just cry about it louder...

  • @GuamKomudo No honey, never cry about it, as a race, all of us together, we stand up and fight for our rights instead of letting others treat us like shit! Just like the lyrics in this song says: "To sit still would be a sin!"

  • I'm guessing you're black??? Idk, but as much as you want it not to be true. You're treated fairly in the modern society of the US... Get over it... Ignorant individuals might be rude yeah, I know, I'm Polynesian and everyone gets crap, people that are in a group and are all the same notice when someone is different. Welcome to the US, melting pot of the world. People are gonna be rude, but as far as a member of society and rights in this country, it's fair, stop saying it's not.

  • @GuamKomudo this movie is set in the 60's, so yeah they're talking about hate and prejudice because of race.

  • @GuamKomudo Yes I am black, and your point??? This movie was set in the 60's so it was a different time in America alot of racism and alot of prejudice. Of course things are alot better now but that still doesn't mean that there still isn't alot of racism, and not just people getting a little slack for being different. Racism is still alive and kicking in America and just because people don't talk about it or you don't see it alot around you doesn't mean it's still not there.

  • @victoriabeckfinat228 correction for your last sentence. Racism is prevalent everywhere. not just america. i am of indian and chinese descent but i look more indian than chinese and i cannot count on all my toes and fingers how many times i have heard racist remarks. they dont sadden me because there'll directed at me but because of how backward some people are and how they just cant accept others in this century where even the first black president of america has been elected.

  • @victoriabeckfinat228 - Very good point Victoria. I remember watching a show a few years back on the FX channel titled Black and white. They had white persons put on makeup to pretend to disguise themselves as black persons and to see what would happen when they went out in public. I was knocked completely out of my little naive world when I watched that show & saw how blatantly racism still goes on.

  • @victoriabeckfinat228 lol anyone who says racism isn't a problem nowadays clearly has a lot of privilege(and by privilege, I mean white privilege)

  • @victoriabeckfinat228 oh and by racism still prevelent in America your refering to black people being racist to white people too right? because i hear the words cracker, redneck, and more insults to white people all the time. and black people can call eachother "niggas" all the time, but if white people do it we're the racist ones. so since when did racism only refer to blacks? not asians? or whites? or hispanics? black people need to get over themselves.

  • @FlapJack211 There is a tremendous amounts of bigotry around us. It isn't always about race. Gender, weight, age, social status; these are all things that people can/will hate you for. People are afraid differences can bleed onto them so they create this world of hate. I have seen racism from all sides, I've been subjected to it. I also have seen how people treat single mothers/fat people/poor people/rich people/skinny people/gay people with the same amount of hate. It's all around

  • @GuamKomudo Racism has just taken on a different form in modern America. oh and honey I don't need a "welcome" to the melting pot of the world because I was born and raised in it, and I don't live my life assuming I know what everyone has gone through in modern America. And it's so LOL if you believe everyone in America is treated fairly. That's just laughable no matter what race you are.

  • @GuamKomudo Oh and just to add discrimination based on race isn't the only thing people in modern America face. Add in social class, sexual orientation, religion, sex, weight, etc. The list goes on.

  • Ok... JUST so you know, there are WAY worse places to be black, white, Christian, Muslim, Asian whatever than America. If you're ANYTHING in the US you have an equal chance at life than anyone. In some countries, if you're Christian, you're in jail or dead... So get over yourself... Go cry to someone who cares... There are people in the world that have it 800X worse than you, you big baby...

  • @sweetiegrl41 awh sweetie is it still bad in america then? I'm from the UK and we're learning about it in history at school. Its horrible how bad humans can be, give your friend a hug from me xx :)

  • 3:05, thats the best. she's got an amazing voice(:

  • ok so im black and i really wanna make it in the buisness. Queen Latifah is my hero and she is my inspiration(raven is too) but im saying, that to al you racist bastards out there, there are many talented black people out there. And that is why they're on tv and not you. This song sends a message. And i think racist people should listen to it. Because we know where we've been. Even if you wish we WERE still segrigated, well we're not so deal with it

    FOREVER live Queen Latifah

  • THIS SONG SHOULD BE NOMINATED IN THE GRAMMYS!!!

  • *moanmoanmoan"discrimination is wrong"moanwhinemoan*

Don't get me wrong: The discriminated ones have a right to complain about it, but those who aren't have NOT!

What makes me sick is that some people who talk about discrimination of any kind and how wrong it is often don't have the slightest idea what it's like. The worse, most of them ARE rasists and bullies.

Anyways, I like the song. Queen Latifah is awesome.

  • idk wat it is about this song but i just LOVE IT!!!!

  • @Gangstaluva201 its about segrigation. And how whatever happens we will make it. Cuz we know where we've been

  • i thank god that i am not a racist i know that if a black person cuts his arm and a white person cuts his arm they both bleed red we are all equal color does not matter its whats in the heart

  • im racist mwa ha ha ha!!!!!! JK! but i do no somebody who is and is complete evil!!!!

  • most touching scene in the movie....the song and Queen's voice makes the message unforgettable.

  • I love this song... i still cry every time i hear it...

  • when you think about it, racisim is really immature. you'd think the human race would know better... and people are still like this today. just go down south to Georgia. =(

  • @KrazieKoolKatt even racist people are a color so they need to shut up cuz everyone is a color and everyone is different in their own special way. Racist people honestly belong to the devil. Because they know nothing about love and peace among others

  • @KrazieKoolKatt - Hi. I wish it were as simple as immaturity, but I believe the root of racism comes from fear. Fear of something different and the stupidity to do nothing to change it.

  • OMG PROTEST PROTEST i miss the PROTEST part

  • I was sad when I didnt get to see this part in school. I was waiting for all the racist people to get toled! I hate the fact that just because they are a diffrent color that makes them another kind of thing. They arnent. They are us. we are all alike. We are one thing. A human being. Nothing should sperate us.

  • geweldig nummer om mee te zingen.

  • Beautiful

  • Queen Latifah is so talented. I love this song. it speaks so much. Blacks have been through a lot bcos of this racism stuff.

  • Amazing,Incredible,Unique,Has a message,Sad,and Fantastic!!! all words to describe this song!!!! and one word to describe Queen Latiifah would be Astoundingly Breath taking.. at 4:13-4:41 that was the breath taking part for me... and when she says ''cause just to sit sown would be a sin'' thats totally a true...its a sin cause we were to lazy and selfish, and non caring to ever make a difference..but Tracy was.... we sould all be like her!!!
