Just because Neil didn't write the lyrics does not mean that "Lady Magdalene" is not HIS SONG. Most artists would just toss an unsolicited song from an unknown ghost writer in the garbage. But Neil has an eye for good lyrics. He recognized that with a few little changes in the music and his golden touch that this song could be a great one. The writer was contacted and the lyrics were discussed. Mr. Diamond loved it. He bought and recorded it and made a song for the ages. Neil is my favorite.

Has any one seen or got the first cut of this album. I own it and keep in safely tucked away and bought about 100 albums (more or less) that has this song on it. On the first release (kind of rare) it says on the record that the AUTHOR IS UNKNOWN. Soon after Neil's name begins to appear as the writer. I am very fortunate to know very personally who the real writer is. And he is the same ghost writer who wrote Suzanne. Suzanne was not written by Cohen.
