This is a very good routine. I have been doing 50% of these exercises(before I watched this video) before and after my 1 hour Tae Bo workout 3 days a week. I will add the others now, Thank you! (the person below me Eviltube1111, I'm a guy and do stretching before and aft. I just dont post videos LOL)
Great, this is what I needed. And, how many seconds I need to stay in stretched position? you stay about 2 seconds. did you make it short because video duration or it`s really correct interval, because I`ve been reading that during stretched position person should stay around 5 seconds. So?
@sagorevach as i watched this i remembered my coach in school taught this same stretch, i think the length of time that you hold each position of stretch depends on before or after workout / warming up or cooling down, and if i remember right you don't want to hold a stretch too long when the body is hot - it could cause muscle cramps; best to do short round of stretches as you cool down, repeat if necessary.
I don't know why people keep saying that you shouldn't do this before a workout I'm pretty sure she didn't say you should. Are you guys correcting other commenters?
@chocolatedrop33020 I admit to having no references at hand, but over the last year or two have seen a small number of references to research which seems to be showing that stretching prior to exertion does not significantly help performance, and may actually increase the risk of injury during vigorous exercise. Stretching after an energetic workout is still recommended, as is a mild warm up (like a few sets of exercise with a light weight or some light jogging) beforehand.
this video is very thorough. i love her voice, the music and the stretches, simple , relaxing and effective. i will definitely be adding this to my daily routine! thanks for this post!
has not been proven that stretching helps/prevents injuries. so after working out is probably best because the muscles are warm thus easier to stretch
Zfair is correct, but it should be added that stretching before a workout- before the muscles are warm- affirmatively PROMOTES injuries, not only injuries from the stretch itself, but it freaks the muscles and tendons into tightening up, inviting problems during the ensuing exercise.
Fix the blinds please :)

In butterfly stretch you shouldn't bring your back down, just bring the pelvis up and keep your back straight up.

Don't stretch before resistance workouts. It's definitely not advised as a warm up and will definitely affect your muscle's power performance.
Not to say you shouldn't warm up!

Of the 30 or so videos I have in my favourite folder, I do this one everyday. So easy to follow, and so relaxing afterwards.
The background music didn't strike me the first few times, then I got so attached to it, Good to know which album it is. I am going to get it.
Thanks Lana.

stretching before working out reduces about 30% of muscle strengh. you just do a warm up.
zacktales 2 years ago
shouldnt you does these before your workout? so your not pulling a muscle or something? it doesnt sound right to do them after the workout

You should do a light warm up before exercise, but not a stretch, unless its very basic.
