Can someone please tell me this:

I caught a wild mouse and it's now my pet and has been for a few days, it's doing great, but would it know how to use a wheel if I got it one? and what about a water bottle? (It's been drinking out of a bowl.) I just don't want to buy the stuff if it isn't going to use it..

Hi, The males smell worse, no the tank is always worse than the mouse when it comes to smell.

If it's really bad in the tank the mouse will have that lingering effect even more of course.

Keep the tank clean naturally and u won't have to worry about overwhelming smell from the mouse.

Female mice should be kept in groups, but it looks like that you spoil her so much, that she doesn't need another mouse with her. Wow, it seems like you give her the best mousy life possible. Good Job :D The cage is small, but it's fine if you give her love and attention everyday outside her cage.

Thanks, groups have never worked out for us, she's got plenty of stuff in there to do and the tank is wider/deeper than it looks. She was out alot, And yes she was loved and spoiled to no end I mean REALLY spoiled and loved. She even wore her own birthday hat and had a party and cake with her name on it spoiled :) Thanks!

@PREZILLA2009 Hi she grew to full size withing a year, six months or so. Then after that they can just get FAT :) cause you spoil them lol

Hi Thanks so much. Yes keep trying to handle them.

I find that only certain mice are this trusting and affectionate. That's why she was so so special.

Also never pick them up by the tail, let them come to you with your hand out flat. Some only like being petted on the back, or head or side of face,depends. Ruby liked it all, she evem let us put a birthday hat on her head and wore it :)

@Substudio I had an affectionate ruby she is sick and the vet isn't even sure whats wrong.. :( she is breathing fast and having trouble moving around. She used to climb and run and walk all over me, i miss it :( now she just lays there having a hard time breathing, the vets don't care..

@fuckcomments Sorry to hear about your mouse - sounds like she has a respiratory problem - you need to find a vet that deals with exotic animals - and can prescribe Baytril either a shot, or drop that you can administer yourself. I don't know how old your little one is, but they unfortunately don't live that long sometimes and they start to wind down like this. but please try & find another vet if possible. good luck!
