i would hate to be on that deck when i served on the Coral Sea back in the 80's we learned of the misshap on board the Lexington where the rokie pilot panick during a wave off and several AB's and pilots were killed
Turbines take some time to rev up. When they hit the deck, the pilot floors it, so if he misses all the wires, he'll have enough speed to takeoff... and live to be razzed after he gets it right.

The engine is at full power when he lands...thus the loudness.

wow that was pretty loud.. i had my speakers turned up full so i didnt know there was going to be that much sound
