  • i tried to join the god damn creator program on imvu but i don`t get any of this shit how do i use this !

  • Wow !

This is quite usefull , till now I spent like hours on UV mapping Torsos , heads and now that's done in a matter of 5 minutes o.O

    Really great tutorial !

  • Absolutely fantastic! God the amount of times I've overlooked this function when I've been unwrapping. Augh! Excellent tut!

  • good tutorial...but, my brain hurts from all the info just sucked into it at once, i can model well..but cannot texture in max but can in photoshop...but wow my brain hurts

  • Now THIS is what I was looking for. Great tutorial.

  • Really great tutorial that get's to the point and explains a lot in a short time. Thank you so much for this!

  • Excellent tutorial :)

  • Can't make this work on my character, I split the character up but when Ipelt only the arm shows up and the pelting doesn't work

  • THANK YOU!

  • I have a multi-sub object map where I have three different unwraps, one per Material ID. when i try to use pelt on a Sphere (made of tri's) the Stretcher vertex things don't appear in "Edit Pelt Map" and therefore the pelt doesn't work. Any ideas? Because I would hate to have to use planer mapping and piece this one together.

  • What i like to know is where do i find this program with out breacking a arm and leg to buy 3d max... or if its free.

  • @sharm313 it costs fuck loads lol, but you can get a free student edition if you sign up to the autodesk website ^_^

  • Great tutorial, I wish I'd seen this during my last uni assignment. I didn't know about half the tools on there until I saw this.

  • Hello, I'm at the point in my life were I'm choosing where i wanna go and what I want to be. I've looked into a few courses in both college and university for a variety of subjects, but have always wanted to work in game design and development, and 3D animation is a gigantic part of that. Is there a specific course you took to learn this stuff, and what careers does knowing 3D animation lead you too (Other then video game design)?

  • awesome video

  • Sooo easy -- why haven't I learnt this years ago?! Thanks : )

  • this tutorial is great! finally one that actually explains all simple and quick! Thank you!

  • THANK YOU!

  • thank you for posting the video, i could have used it a little earlier but now i now i can unwrap my character much easier.

  • awesome helpful tutorial...thanks alot.

  • Help !

i wish i could figure this out . . .when i hit pelt, it just brings up the uv template, and doesnt allow me to edit the mapping type. The aling Z button is frozen ???

  • for very long I have been considering "pelt mapping" as a very difficult issue. In a couple of minutes you've deconstructed it and made it very simple. A 1000 thanks for that sir! And 5* also for the way you talk and the quality of the sound.

  • ive seen so many other tutorials, they avoid pelt.. after watching this tutorial i can point and laugh at them.. thanks for sharing

  • Use Roadkill. Sooooo much simpler.

  • nice tutorial, but you should speak bit slowly that beginners have a chance to understood what are you doing:) thanks anyway, very helpful

  • Days of trial and error working from lesser tutorials, this one has cleared up every issue with mapping I've had so far. Thank you!!

  • This is amazing. Thanks for sharing!!

  • x-treemly helpfull

    thanks man

  • muchisimas gracias ha sido de muchsisisima ayuda!

  • This video has brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for posting this. Especially the pelt pull, that is so helpful. In the past it is been unfortunately necessary that people would have to be killed in order to make a wearable human skin suits. This technology has made that old process obsolete. Now the human skin suit wearing community can freely express their art without the stigma of being characterized as homicidal maniacs.

  • true this video is made of win

  • Thanks so much, this tutorial is really helpful!

  • how do i export a map of the model i made. made it with unwrap uvw, normal>box mapping (if this info matters). how do i export this map?

  • I figured it out now, but now I can't figure out how to remove pelt seams that I've placed. Anybody?

  • Click "edit seams" from the right menu. and ctrl click the blues seams you want to remove.

  • yeah you need to render the image then with the render you can put a texture over the seams but i dont no how to do that and that is what im looking for aswell i think its called texture rendering

  • The first time I watched this video, everything worked out for me perfectly. How come now, when I go to edit pelt map, I don't get the circle stretcher?! Whaaaa!!! Help!

  • Thanks for this video! I never knew how to use this, and what is it for exactly! It's very helpful! 5 stars!

  • Just to say : This tutorial was made from someone at autodesk. Not the youtube user. It's more of a demonstration.

  • Very straightforward and simple. One of the best teachers around with excellent communication skills. Five stars.

  • Very useful for showing the basics of the pelt mapping features! Thanks for posting.

  • If there were more people sharing stuffs, we could change the world.

Even been in the menu pop-up, I think this tutorial really helps.

    Thanks.

  • is there a way that i can get a copy of this file to i can load it up to my 3DS Max 9?

  • I kept looking for a punch line or at lest the gal's boobs to get bigger.....

  • That upgraded relax tool should have been there since Max 1!!!! I can't believe i was the only one in the world who came up with that need ages ago.

  • Not the best pelt mapping video....

  • have you found a better one already? where is the link?

  • i wish i could figure this out . . .when i hit pelt, it just brings up the uv template, and doesnt allow me to edit the mapping type

to make matters worse, when i get into the template, it shows my mesh in 2d, and it wont let me select the pelt seam, so i can move it out

what this is doing is reversing the pelt pull, and making it go slightly inwards

  • amazing! thank you sir, you just saved me heaps of hours.

  • it's a nice tutorial, just need to know how do you get rid off unwanted seams when you wanna pelt

  • It's great, but sometimes i find the old way to be more useful. Nice tutorial.

  • what is the old way? if you would please....

  • Really good tutorial

  • I am close to throw my computer from the seventh floor after trying to follow this.

It's useless you go to fast

  • This is one of those product demostration from Autodesk 3ds max, if you think it goes too fast try look for it in the new features folder in your 3ds max 8 DVD so you can reproduce it at 1/2 speed

  • yes actually I found the tutorial included in 3ds max. Great. I should be more patient next time =)

  • you found the tutorial in the tutorials section from the help menu?

  • yes, and I have 3DS max 9.

Just type "pelt" in the search box ;p

  • kick ass! thanks!

  • You guys are pretty stupid. The youtube user comes from the UK but this guy is american. The person who done this tutorial works for Autodesk.

  • Thank you I will try this stuff next on my next character. Should make things go faster.

  • nice tut

  • the "hard way" is easier for me just have to know how to project your uv's

  • thx...........

    perfect tutorial...........

  • Greatly tutorial, thanks!

  • Brilliant.

  • That was beautiful.

  • Thanks for the demo!

    Nice~

  • THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!
