  • WOW

  • Facebook is VIP Marie-Mai! ♥♥♥

  • J'aime beaucoup Marie Mai. C'est la premiere fois que j'ai vu Marie et je peux dire qu'elle est superbe. Je suis fiere d'etre canadien et je ne suis pas de Quebec aussi..

  • I am also proud to be Canadian

Je suis aussi fière d'être canadien

Mais je ne suis pas de Québec

    But I'm not from Quebec

  • C'était malade!

  • je suis canadien et fière d'être bilingue

i am Canadian and proud to be bilingual

and im not evn from québec!

  • To those who are saying she can't in French since no one understand the lyrics, here everyone listen to English music and don't understand the lyrics...

  • i love this song!!!

  • not as good as the NBC version, which have great shots but dont show everything of the show, but sure as heck better than CTV!!! :) as they show everything, but have some of the wrost shots ever.

  • nice song

  • amazing performance!

  • I'm so addicted to this song. Who knew the OLYMPICS (something i never understood about being such a hype, as a child) would introduce me to a new line of songs? I actually see use for that grade 9 french i was forced to take. it's amazing! :D

  • Spend more time in scool and learn french...

  • how does she act like everyone understands French? There's not much she can do if she can't speak English. The whole point of this is Canada is a bilingual country, no matter how much French and English speakers might bug each other :)

  • Because the president and founder of the Olympic Games was Pierre De Coubertin and he was french. Therefore, it doesn't matter the country where the Olympics are taking place, whether it's Russia, Japan, Canada, US etc, the commentaries will always be 1st in french. Don't compare US with Canada, unless you would know the history of this country or at least have a small idea. Judging by your your previous comment, it doesn't seem to be the case.

  • French being first at the Olympics has NOTHING to do with Québec: it is mandated by the Olympic charter. Watch all the other Olympics (Atlanta, L.A., Beijing, Sydney, Moscow, Barcelona, etc, and upcoming London), everything was (and will be) in french first - so, get used to it.

I suggest you check your facts before you write...

Because she is doing her act in french, the ONLY french act mandated in that Closing Ceremony, and that includes the "tout le monde" (everyone) chorus part, althougf she is VERY well aware that only a tiny fraction of the audience understand what she is singing.

And don't worry, she speaks excellent English and can equally sing in English (check her acoustic cover of "umbrella".

  • @spiraleatsyou tais toi. (shut up)

  • @redfang756

    Um... what?

I'm sorry if I offended anybody. my point was that the Olympics organizers just wanted to have a French singer at the closing ceremony to show the French-side of Canada, even if Marie Mai does speak English as well as French.

  • We're not bilingual lol, it's all a facade. They only put her to show the French side even though not one person outside of Quebec has heard this song.

  • @SwooshParker You are nuts! I live in Ontario and just so you know; I have heard this song! And I am most certainly bilingual! Tu es banale!

  • @TheGirlWithBigDreams You are rude. Was it on any charts? No. Was it popular? No. Just because you've heard a song doesn't mean everybody has .. it depends on if you heard it on the radio or if you heard it by finding it yourself by chance or because you are of that heritage and so you are interested in it. That's nice; nobody else is. You chose to be bilingual for whatever reason because it is not a compulsory course. It is a joke; USA is more bilingual.

  • @SwooshParker If you think I'm rude, then whatever. But just so you know, the US is not eve close to being more bilingual than Canada. And, I didn't choose to be biligual, I was raised French and it is my first language. I go to a French school, all my courses are in French and there for, it IS a compulsory course. You know nothing about the French cultural. I never said everyone has, but you said "not one person out of Québec has heard of this song". So, I proved you wrong.

  • @TheGirlWithBigDreams Exactly my point. You are raised French so it is no wonder why you speak it. Of course they are more bilingual! Spanish is all over their country. Every single mall I've been to they sell things to you in Spanish. They have Spanish all over and they say by 2025 there will be more Hispanics than whites. I never claimed to know French culture. Did I? Maybe you are not bilingual after all if you couldn't understand what I wrote. French is dying, Spanish is thriving.

  • @SwooshParker You're a waste of my time.

  • @TheGirlWithBigDreams So immature. You are obviously not educated in the same ways as I am if you think Canadians all over both care about French or appreciate it because of the money spent on the duplication of files in French. I don't care but some are very passionate about their hatred. It is also naive of you if you think French is seriously implemented outside of Quebec. Go to an English school and you will see what our French classes consist of. It's sad.

  • @TheGirlWithBigDreams We are done here because of have not said one thing to battle any point I've said. So immature of you.

  • @SwooshParker not true. My french teacher introduced her music to my class in grade 9. But yeah, I agree with you. French isn't very present in Canada, but especially out here on the west coast. Out of the entire song, most people in Vancouver understand only "moi" and "imaginaire". Maybe I'm not one to talk, since I only started studying french beyond "je veut aller à la salle de bain" in grade 6.

  • @spiraleatsyou

She isn't "acting" like they all understand it. She is giving it her all and putting 110% into her performance even though she knows that alot of people don't understand it because that's what good artists do. And she is fluent in English. She even has an English song. Learn the facts before you go around making statements like that.

  • You seem to be quite dense a person.

Don't worry, she's smart enough to understand that only a tiny minority in the audience understands the lyrics to her song. It's all about discovering new songs, new sounds (in foreign languages) and new artists for the vast majority of the audience with an open mind.

Speaking for myself as a french Canadian, I don't speak a word of Portugueze, but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying Fado music (check as an example: /watch?v=MSIGWEcR5Dc).

  • something about this performance .. i dont know what it was . but it was amazing!

  • I live in Montral, this girl it's very on the scene and i love this singer. Marie-Mai it's godd singer of Quebec!

  • To those of you who were at BC Place: how was the sound quality? Was there a good sound system installed for the musical acts of the Closing Ceremony, or was everything fed through the standard PA system there? It is hard to tell in this video.

  • I actually loved the sound system.....It wasn't like what the usually use for some concerts which is crappy.....it was a real deal...

  • I love this song, I wish now that i didnt miss the closing ceremony just so I couldve watched this.

  • where the live video of her on tv I'm looking and I could not find help thanks

  • i love this song! :) i downloaded it after the closing ceremonies. :P she has great stage presence, something about her performance really grabbed me :)
