Well, the patch had a buff for Phoenix Wright's 'Maya Shield' move, so it comes out faster. As long as you can use that with advancing guard well, and take advantage of all the time you have, and you can at least get to Trial mode. As a friend of mine said, who's also really good at Ultimate, a skilled PW player can win with 3 evidence in Trial mode. And plus, TB has those easy-to-combo heavy beams, and the second strongest lv 3. Using those, you could still kill a guy easy.
But you're right, that Wesker nerf is just cheap as crap. It's not like turnabout, where the opponent works their ass off the EARN those strong-ass beams and level 3, but Wesker doesn't even have to do all that work. All he has to do is perform Maximum Wesker once or take a big enough beating, then he's got x-factor until he has the arrogance to taunt. But I'm sure fan demand will determine the contents of the next patch, it usually does. (ie, PW's speech error in his level 3.)

And really, all characters who can power-up like Wright, Frank, Vergil, Dante, Felicia, Arthur, Firebrand, Ryu, etc, at least it's either earnt, or only lasts a couple seconds, or can be cancelled through hypers, or prevented from even starting, etc. But Wesker, it requires little to no effort. Arthur and Modok are two of my team member (the other being Cap) and are very under-used, so it was epic to see them whoop some ass in this video. Also, I doubt Arthur was the least seen character because he can be dang good with certain things. I wouldn't be surprised if the least seen character online was Hsien-Ko, because if there were in fact a worst character in the game, she would easily fit the spot.

I don't think Wesker needed the damage boost from the glasses thing. If anything, get rid of that boost, and keep the speed boost, because I really think the glasses was a good conept, and it would be a shame for the devs to get rid of it, after putting time and effort into the idea.
wesker is a cheap character that can teleport 3 TIMES MID AIR, counter, teleport full screen, air special and the glasses this makes it even worst. just a overall op character i like him but dam his op like it or not.

I completely agree with max when he says that Wesker needs to be nerfed, that glasses crap alongside XF lv 3 is a pain in the butt and completely unfair. The same could be said about Spencer as well, I swear Capcom just happen to love making these dominant noob friendly characters that practically ruin the gaming experience for everybody. Especially when they are EVERYWHERE online. Jesus, you'd think with a diverse cast of characters people would actually pick someone else besides those two.

A friend and I were having a chat about Wesker' nerfs actually. To him, He thinks Wesker's OTG should be taken out, and leave everything else. To him the OTG is what makes him so damn good, and this would make people rethink their game plan. I can't say I disagree, but I think that his forward and air gunshots should be taken out. Eliminating his stupidly good zoning options and gear him towards rush down seems like a better idea, considering how everyone basically plays like that anyway

There is nothing wrong with Wesker. That is why they didnt nerf him further from vanilla. Wesker is easy to pick up but he is still a very technical character. Wesker has a permanent place on my team because I have always rooted for Wesker in the RE series. I take no greater pleasure than putting gun spammers in their place. WHY?! you may ask. It's funny how there are still jackasses who think wesker is balanced. I run a Spencer trish viper team. Now in my opinion, trish is the best keep away next to PW turnabout. Yet I still I have trouble with wesker. Drop his health to 850-900. Take out that gay ass shades thing. Make is gun combo more strict in timing and make his maximum have the SAME recovery animation as vergils

Might I also suggest they nerf Wolverine's damage after certain amount of hits. I know all characters have damage decay, but Wolverine, and a few others, can kill off a whole character, below 850k. It turns people away from picking low health characters. For example: R.Racoon, X-23, Amy, Magneto, and my new pick, Vergil =/
How about just a speed boost, and no damage boost. Also decrease his overall damage by 10%. And maybe finally allow him to do Maximum Wesker after an OTG, without the need of doing a Team Hyper-Combo. That sounds better to me.
Interesting that you brought up Modok. I've been trying to search more clips of good Modok players and honestly he looks pretty good! He just looks REALLY ugly. Do you think his ugliesness/oddness turn people off more than how effective he can be? I mean Modok can fly, has very good range and he can zone. He just doesn't seem like a low tier character to me.
Heres A good thing to remember when playing against Wesker NEVER ADVANCE GUARD AGAINST ANY OF HIS MOVES because all his moves are close range because alot of his moves are punsihable

Max, do you think you can do an episode talking about crossups and mixups and how to deal with them? I've noticed one of my big problems while playing is having no idea how to deal with sudden crossups or being mixed up, which results in me blocking wrong, opponents getting free combos on me, and taking me out, and I just have no idea what to do about that.
i think the patch should just return the characters that got some nerfs to return to their former glory from vanilla marvel vs capcom 3. or patch the game with some nerfs to a few characters, add a few things to the nerfed, let wesker keep the glasses thing but get a slight damage output drop, and include the heros vs heralds thing along with all the costume packs for your troubles and sacrifises.
I just had an epiphany. As much as I enjoy the concept of Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, I feel that the technical concepts the developer implemented in the build are stall, static, and have long over stayed their welcome. Honestly, I feel like both Vanilla (I loathe that term...) and Ultimate is the agonized, strangled squawk of a series being miserably put through the ringer, and served to the people who wish to relive their MvC2 glory days. That's my opinion and I am sticking too it.
in mvc2 there was a lot of bs like a hell of a lot of bs and to be a good player you had to learn it all. ik they're tryna make mvc3 less complicated but patching wesker is like patching magneto in mvc2 and all the complicated sht, the ridiculous mix ups, infinites, resets, gaurd breaks, and traps are part of the fun of mvc

@flywhiteguytim If you think Wesker is broken, choose a team including Phoenix, Zero, Doctor Doom, Hawkeye, M.O.D.O.K, Morrigan, Spencer, Trish, or Viewtiful Joe. I'm sure there's more but all of those characters either counter or are a good matchup for Wesker. The problem with your logic is that you're basing balance on one month of game experience. Balance, however, is an incredibly fluid thing in that it changes rapidly following the metagame of it's time. MSP wasn't used month 1 of MvC2...
When I see massive amounts of douchebag Weskers, it just makes me want to learn to play as the guy and show those morons how you do it.
My main problem with Wesker: Instant X-Factor that stacks with X-Factor, and when I fight him(or Amaterasu, side note there) online, always teamed with Sentinel and Phoenix, just for teleport, laser, and Dark Phoenix Abuse.
Max's Wesker is one who I'd love to lose against, on a side note.
Vergil's devil trigger is very similar to Wesker's glasses in terms of speed and damage boost. The only difference is that some of Vergil's combos don't work in lvl 3 X-Factor with devil trigger where as Wesker's level 4 X-Factor, all his combo's work. Not to mention he has Pheonix-like damage boosts in X-factor as well.
i agree with lowering Wesker's health and removing the glasses buff. that's a definite. the thing is though most weskers online are complete crap. they don't know any combos spam point blank maximum wesker and teleport without an assist. unless the opponent is competent or the match is VERY laggy it's not a big deal. i think people are overreacting to Wesker. let's not turn him into Vanilla Sentinel please?
I really hate how so many ppl hate on wesker. he isnt even the strongest character in the game. a Wesker BnB is at least 30k weaker than C. Viper BnB... and Nova?!?!? are you serious? the guy also does more damage than wesker and he has better mobility than wesker. if capcom loves the glasses mechanic, they should just give wesker a slight speed advantage, not a damage increase.
but then again, everybody can hit like a truck with level 3 xfc, so i dunno all the hate on Dark Wesker. and besides, Wesker has some really bad matchups (like Zero and other small characters) so it's not like he's far away the best character though he is in the upper echelon.

Here's something they can do to Wesker. When he takes off his glasses, not only should he get a 10% speed and damage increase, but also take 10% or more damage from enemy attack as well. Not a solid nerf but it's a start.

wesker is a cheap character that can teleport 3 TIMES MID AIR, counter, teleport full screen, air special and the glasses this makes it even worst. just a overall op character i like him but dam his op like it or not.

I completely agree with max when he says that Wesker needs to be nerfed, that glasses crap alongside XF lv 3 is a pain in the butt and completely unfair. The same could be said about Spencer as well, I swear Capcom just happen to love making these dominant noob friendly characters that practically ruin the gaming experience for everybody. Especially when they are EVERYWHERE online. Jesus, you'd think with a diverse cast of characters people would actually pick someone else besides those two.

On the one hand, I really hate it when people whine a lot about OH THIS CHARACTER IS OP HE NEEDS A PATCH but in Wesker's case it's like they intentionally buffed him, just to make him more crazy. He doesn't need to be patched to all hell, just remove a few things (glasses buff) and I think it'll be ok.

Whenever I see a game online, and wesker comes out, it usually means victory for whoever is sporting wesker. He's not just "good" , he's too overpowered. A friend and I were having a chat about Wesker' nerfs actually. To him, He thinks Wesker's OTG should be taken out, and leave everything else. To him the OTG is what makes him so damn good, and this would make people rethink their game plan. I can't say I disagree, but I think that his forward and air gunshots should be taken out. Eliminating his stupidly good zoning options and gear him towards rush down seems like a better idea, considering how everyone basically plays like that anyway

There is nothing wrong with Wesker. That is why they didnt nerf him further from vanilla. Wesker is easy to pick up but he is still a very technical character. Wesker has a permanent place on my team because I have always rooted for Wesker in the RE series. I take no greater pleasure than putting gun spammers in their place. WHY?! you may ask. Because his gun is his greatest downfall. Learn to properly attack assists that are called out and close the gap and Wesker noobs will be a snap. Hulk=Gay

It's funny how there are still jackasses who think wesker is balanced. I run a Spencer trish viper team. Now in my opinion, trish is the best keep away next to PW turnabout. Yet I still I have trouble with wesker. Drop his health to 850-900. Take out that gay ass shades thing. Make is gun combo more strict in timing and make his maximum have the SAME recovery animation as vergils

Might I also suggest they nerf Wolverine's damage after certain amount of hits. I know all characters have damage decay, but Wolverine, and a few others, can kill off a whole character, below 850k. It turns people away from picking low health characters. For example: R.Racoon, X-23, Amy, Magneto, and my new pick, Vergil =/

How about just a speed boost, and no damage boost. Also decrease his overall damage by 10%. And maybe finally allow him to do Maximum Wesker after an OTG, without the need of doing a Team Hyper-Combo. That sounds better to me.

Max, do you think you can do an episode talking about crossups and mixups and how to deal with them? I've noticed one of my big problems while playing is having no idea how to deal with sudden crossups or being mixed up, which results in me blocking wrong, opponents getting free combos on me, and taking me out, and I just have no idea what to do about that.

i think the patch should just return the characters that got some nerfs to return to their former glory from vanilla marvel vs capcom 3. or patch the game with some nerfs to a few characters, add a few things to the nerfed, let wesker keep the glasses thing but get a slight damage output drop, and include the heros vs heralds thing along with all the costume packs for your troubles and sacrifises.

I just had an epiphany. As much as I enjoy the concept of Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, I feel that the technical concepts the developer implemented in the build are stall, static, and have long over stayed their welcome. Honestly, I feel like both Vanilla (I loathe that term...) and Ultimate is the agonized, strangled squawk of a series being miserably put through the ringer, and served to the people who wish to relive their MvC2 glory days. That's my opinion and I am sticking too it.

@flywhiteguytim If you think Wesker is broken, choose a team including Phoenix, Zero, Doctor Doom, Hawkeye, M.O.D.O.K, Morrigan, Spencer, Trish, or Viewtiful Joe. I'm sure there's more but all of those characters either counter or are a good matchup for Wesker. The problem with your logic is that you're basing balance on one month of game experience. Balance, however, is an incredibly fluid thing in that it changes rapidly following the metagame of it's time. MSP wasn't used month 1 of MvC2...

When I see massive amounts of douchebag Weskers, it just makes me want to learn to play as the guy and show those morons how you do it.
My main problem with Wesker: Instant X-Factor that stacks with X-Factor, and when I fight him(or Amaterasu, side note there) online, always teamed with Sentinel and Phoenix, just for teleport, laser, and Dark Phoenix Abuse.
Max's Wesker is one who I'd love to lose against, on a side note.

Vergil's devil trigger is very similar to Wesker's glasses in terms of speed and damage boost. The only difference is that some of Vergil's combos don't work in lvl 3 X-Factor with devil trigger where as Wesker's level 4 X-Factor, all his combo's work. Not to mention he has Pheonix-like damage boosts in X-factor as well.

I really hate how so many ppl hate on wesker. he isnt even the strongest character in the game. a Wesker BnB is at least 30k weaker than C. Viper BnB... and Nova?!?!? are you serious? the guy also does more damage than wesker and he has better mobility than wesker. That Haggar and Arthur player really sucked, I use Arthur and Haggar and I got some pretty good combos, I can combo after Haggar's LvL 3 hyper and all if his grabs. But my forefinger is broken so I can't play :( BUT! I killed Galactus with a broken finger... on easy.

Here's something they can do to Wesker. When he takes off his glasses, not only should he get a 10% speed and damage increase, but also take 10% or more damage from enemy attack as well. Not a solid nerf but it's a start.
