  • This version is being true to the original lyrics. Would you change a poem just because you are of the same gender? Lisa is performing it as a true deliverer of the lyrics and story. Its totally irrelevant that she sings it about a woman. Its a stunning rendition too, my favourite Celtic Woman

  • Marry me you stunning red head! Lisa , thanks for becoming a Celtic Woman, you have added so much to the show, your ceativity and spirit are so very precious. What an artit you are.

  • Ummm...No... It was sung from a male perspective....and the "original" is lost in the history of Scotland. There are many versions of this song... each different in it's own way. The Celtic Woman version leaves out many of the lyrics. Good?... yes. One of my favourite versions is by Phil Coulter.... and also Gaelic Storm.

Nina Simone's version is a jazz version...eually interesting and enjoyable. Vive la difference!

  • I love this song. So much.

I do have to say though, they edited this song to be a woman singing to a woman. =3 Which makes me even happier. Thought it should be mentioned...

Love Lisa Lambe and Celtic Woman!

  • thumbs up if you just heard the voice of an angel.

  • just,over decorated lady.

    Celticwoman lost something precious.

  • @yoshi5834able I totally disagree, a true artist, she brings a whole new artistic creative level to the show

  • When i first heard them a few years ago i was mesmerized by their voices and how they performed. I was disappointed at first about the other woman not being in the group anymore, but Lisa is a perfect addition to the group; she's extremely mystical and really knows how to move an audience. I can't wait to see them in April! Paramount Theatre!!!!!

  • The new Orla! She embodies her mysticism! :)

  • Where can I find the sheet music?

  • I think it would have been neat if Lynn Hilary had sung this song, and Lisa Lambe had sung Carolina Rua. Seeing that Carolina Rua is about a girl with red hair, and this song is about a girl with black hair.

  • There are no words! I could listen to this song forever!!! Absolutely breathtaking.

  • I worship her hair, her voice, and where on she stands

  • I wouldn't say that its any better or worse, just different. I miss Orla, But Lisa is enjoyable to see and listen to.

  • you know yes they was totally awesome when they started, but they are still awesome especially for only having three vocals now, and lisa lambe, wow, love her emotions in here voice and her eyes as she sings, and shows her emotions.. sooooo perfect and all of them are so sngellically talented and beautiful.. but gonnna miss lisa kelly tho, its time for her to take some family time with a new baby coming

  • She humbles me with her beauty...

  • Lisa Lambe is not only beautiful, she is talented and the best thing that has happened to Celtic Woman...I've always liked them but now I do more than ever. As far as her voice goes, this is my favorite song i've heard her sing. Love, love , love this!

  • Can't get enough of celtic woman

  • She sings beautifuly

  • Who says that Women cant fall for each other 63utuber?

  • @Goodwithknives80 Who says that Phil Collins is a woman?

  • I love the music in this song, but the words are weird! "I love me love"...sure bro! Weird way to say it...anyway...

Lisa Lambe's the bomb! Just a weird song in my opinion. ;P

  • This isn't the first time - but it's still weird - this is song from a MALE point of view, so why in Killarney is a Celtic WOMAN singing it?

  • @63utuber It was originally written by a man for HIS love, so she is singing from the man's perspective, of course!

  • @63utuber it's not weird, it's one of two things, a lesbian love, or a woman adoring another. deal with it, not everything is black and white.

  • @tristonkent Right .. so, when did Phil Collins become a lesbian?

  • @63utuber Phil Collins? Uh... No offence but this song was originally written from a woman's point of view. Celtic Woman changed it even more to fit their style and it could of possibly been Lisa's own choice to change it. The original was sang by Nina simone, a WOMAN. lol

  • lol. After seeing Celtic Thunder perform this I researched. It's an American song. They are celticsizing our songs. O.o Give me the ol' Irish ballads.

  • @FlyHighFlyBC..."Black Is the Colour (of My True Love's Hair)" (Roud 3103) is a traditional folk song first known in the Appalachian Mountains region of the United States in 1915, but most probably originating from Scotland, as attributed to the reference to the Clyde in the song's lyrics. The musicologist Alan Lomax supported this Scottish origin saying the song was an American "re-make of British materials."

  • I love Celtic Woman, but I loved them more in the past. I think the singers now are just as wonderful as before, but with only 3 instead of the usual 5, they just can't create the same depth when they sing as a group because they can only do 3 vocal parts at once. I hope they get more singers soon! But, just as talented and lovely as usual :D

  • @helpmebjd

The group only had five singers on A New Journey. Most of the time it's just four singers.

  • how can anyone dislike this song?

  • I've heard a lot of people saying that this band was better five years ago, but I think Lisa Lambe is right up there with Meav in voice quality, plus (as this video shows), she's a lot more enjoyable to watch sing at their concerts. Celtic Woman is as good as it ever has been.

  • @SwedishSeraphim I think people say that because the group back then had more colors (voices) to the show and each was unique. (not that they aren't now) The three singers now, while they are different sing more similar to one another than they have in the past. They all still sing beautifully. So I am pretty sure it is that they just miss the old members of the group. Meav is more reserved when performing compared to Lisa L. which is fine. Different personalities but still both amazing singers!

  • @SwedishSeraphim My big thing is that CW has gotten more show-y, but that's the nature of it. Personally, Maev's voice annoyed me. It was too sweet & breathy; she stilted her emotions live. Now, she has a perfectly angelic voice, and when you start out an early-era Riverdance singer, that's a pretty stoic singing role. Lisa is like a brook. Limpid, sparkling, sassy. She has a melting voice that complements earthy folk songs. Maev is more suited to operatic, glamorous arias. IMO

  • wait hold up.. Susan McFadden isnt that Brian McFadden ex member of westlifes sister? ;o

  • @RaveInMyGrave Yes she is. It's a small world I guess.

  • is emi a representative for celtic women? if not he should get his nose out of this especially at the ceili as that is a celtic women original

  • My chorus class once sang this song, but three of the words in the lyrics were diffrent than the lyrics here.

  • ok thank u coolrogue5827 now i understand.

  • Beautiful <3

  • Sooooo Beautiful <3 <3 <3

  • Very beautiful song 3

  • @coolrogue5827 I noticed that EMI is blocking "At the Ceili" for copyright violations, it's been on Youtube almost five years! EMI is not making friends.

  • She is amazing!! wow x

  • I love them! Bought the Believe cd this year and last year their songs from the heart cd.

  • @coolrogue5827

    Thanks for your response. :-)

  • 3 dislikes? How can you dislike this?

  • @mattycakes117 BOTH versions are stunning, alright?

  • @mattycakes117 no way! This version's too slow! But I still love both of them, and I can't choose between them, because they're BOTH stunning!

  • SO BEAUTFUL!!!!!!

  • Who is the person on the covers of the Celtic Woman stuff???

  • @IrishZeusac (Found this information on Celtic Woman's forum) she's a French model and her red hair was added in with Photoshop. Celtic Woman's Irish label, Celtic Collections, had the photos of her from a previous photo shoot and she, in fact, appeared on a previous compilation for the company. Interestingly enough, the photo shoot was so long ago that no one even remembers her name. She is a complete mystery.

  • @TheGeantrai OMG!!! That's weird...and mysterious! Thanks for finding that out for me!

  • @TheGeantrai

They really should just put a group photo on the CD covers. It's a bit misleading to buyers when the cover model isn't a member of the group.

  • @shuboy05 The picture of the lady on the cover is the standard Celtic Woman logo that has been used for many years. You will also find it posted on the large trailers that go with the group on the Celtic Woman tours. When I saw it on the trailer sitting next to the performance hall at the first concert I attended, I knew I was in the right place!

  • @1sorryham

In a way Celtic Woman is stuck with the cover model since people are familiar with her image. It's just that Celtic Woman is composed of beautiful women and they aren't put on the covers.

  • @shuboy05 here is the name of the woman on all the covers of Celtic Woman cds.Her name is Susan McKeown, and she is one of the performers in the concerts and on cd's

  • @UniqualovesAustin Uh, no, I don't think so. According to the official web site, the lady on the album covers is a french model whose name has never been released and who also has never performed with the group.

  • Red is the colour of my true loves hair!!! Lisa Lambe you are stunning and what a voice!!!

  • Amazing and beautiful !!!!!

  • She is incredible. Her eyes... I love the ground whereon she stands

  • oh my god how beautiful she is!

  • Ryan from Celtic Thunder sounds better

  • @BreeZ0701 Not even close! Ryan's is so overly done! This is sublime!

  • all you can say is breathless

  • I like Lisa Lamb. I hope they keep her. I didn't like the girls in the past but there is something about Lisa that just shouts for Celtic Woman and Celtic Music.

  • i love this song!!!!! :)

  • oh im so in love <3

  • Hauntingly Beautiful, I teared up a little...

  • i think she's lovely and a great fit for CW. im sooo mad that emi pulled down "spaceman" b/c i Could listen to it Repeatedly! @Italimatteo, couldnt have said it better myself!

  • I saw that this new show was on PBS and had my doubts.. Celtic Woman has gotten so "pop" and I felt it lost its touch. HOWEVER! This gorgeous woman's gorgeous voice and this rendition of this song are AMAZING and brought tears to my eyes! She's a great new addition! No one will ever replace Meav or Orlaugh, but Lisa Lambe is a fabulous addition! A thousand likes to her! <3

  • @CelticMusings Agreed with them getting too pop. These days, I only download the more traditional songs; the pop renditions are wearing.

  • @cctc11891 @CelticMusings Bro..I dont know what you hear but if you search a little bit you will find out their music dont have pop impression.....the pop is another category..In this show they performed many irish, traditional songs as you see...but yes..these are performed in english..but at least you can understand it :P please..there are only few music in other type and I guess this was a very good decision (okey this is only my opinion) but doesnt matter ! just enjoy it or no :)

  • i feel the song would have flowed better if instead of "love the ground were on she stands" it said "love the ground were on she walks.

  • I love how she brings that hint of theatre out in her performances. She's just amazing all around. Phenomenal voice. It's definitely a good mix of haunting like Órla and pure like Alex, but soprano like Lynn and breathy like Méav... it's amazing how David finds these women to fit so perfectly

  • lisa lambe is like the perfect mix of Orla Fallons beautful haunting voice and Lynn Hilarys airy voice!! i love it!! could listen to it all day.

  • Fantastic performance, but I love especially 1:53 - 1:59. Her voice takes such a strong twist there, the power of this lady telling a story.

  • lisa lambe isnt that bad, though i wish the old celtic woman members would come back :)

  • It makes me think of my boyfriend.

  • Went through a few other performers doing this. The result of my research is that Sinead O'Conner sounded like she wanted to hunt down and kill the black haired lover... Joan Baez put me to sleep by taking 30 seconds to sing the first stanza. But a guy named Christy Moore did lyrics not in Lisa's rendition. Unfortunately the audio wasn't the greatest. Anyone know these other lyrics and will post?

  • All the previous Celtic Woman CD covers were simply teasers that Lisa Lambe would oneday sing with them.

  • @SwedishSeraphim I totally agree I thought she was a member of the group for the longest because of the cover I wondered where is the red head

  • Wow that happened to be the greatest thing you can ever sing to someone its so sweet and so awesome:)

  • One of the most beautiful creatures Ive ever seen, what a voice too, amazing.. Lil Lambe you make me cry !!!!

  • Where can I find sheet music? I MUST sing this version

  • i love the instrumental music in the background -- amazing

  • I wish they'd get all the Celtic Woman members, past and present, and have them perform together again for an evening, at least. That would be tremendous, as I love all of them.

  • I would dye my hair black just to have her sing this to me!

  • I am so obsessed with this woman. I absolutely love her

  • @alleyezonme19962000 Me too... shes amazing. Stunning looks too!

  • @uncletomscottage I agree

  • Wow! Breathtaking voice & beauty! Watched this whole show on PBS tonight. Loved every minute!!!!

  • @Wyocaveman That's where I seen it. I couldn't turn the channel and then I seen this..OMG she is beautiful and her voice is amazing.

  • the best performance ever

liasa lambe will you marry me so that you can sing this song to me every morning. lol

  • I just had the image of Lisa Lambe singing this with Lynn Hilary as a duet and doing her hand wave at 2:57 near Lynn's beautiful face and... Sorry, I need a cold shower...

  • Did anyone notice that Lisa Lambe looks like the girl on the cover of the previous Celtic Woman DVDs?

  • @nancyluv1987 Yes, she does... Who IS that woman on the cover anyway? Anyone able to place a name to that beautiful woman or is the image of no one in particular?

  • @William2020a it's a French model with photoshopped hair

  • @nancyluv1987 Lisa Lambe is much prettier than that girl on the cover. ;)

  • @nancyluv1987 she does, but that girl is actually a french model. lisa is really beautyful too, though

  • @nancyluv1987 omg so im not the only one who noticed

  • @smallpaws14 :o)

  • Girl crush.

  • I personally think that Chloë should have sung this.

  • @DeltaPhi79 IF thats your opinion .... But no once can sing this like Lisa L can, thats why it was chosen for her!!!!!!

  • This would have fit in good with LOTR Return of the King!!

  • this is the most **sniff sniff** peice ever written and lisa you just **sniff sniff** are so beatiful i can't help but cry when you sing this.

  • Watching Lisa Lambe sing is absolutely enthralling. What a great addition to Celtic Women. We need to see more of her and I'm sure we will.

  • After seeing this, red is the color of my true love's hair.

  • This song is beautiful. I love it.

  • 2 people need to have their ears checked and then boxed...

  • Lisa Lambe is divine, what a performer. Solucky to have this gal amongst this group.

    Shes very very special.

  • 2 people have never been in love

  • If you notice, Lisa Lambe has beautiful and gentle hands. so when she sings the line "She has the gentlest hands." She moves her hands with such a flow that demonstrates that she is gentle too.

  • I envy her voice so much. She's soft and sweet but shines power through her words. :3

  • I love the way she says love!

  • Who's the new girl? She's beautiful! And so good! Still, I love Chloe the most, but she's comin' close. She can raise and lower her pitches flawlessly, which is hard to achieve. Celtic Woman, you rock.

    <3

  • I ♥ Lisa Lambe's voice. It's powerful, but not forceful. It also looks effortless, which is the mark of a true performer. Well done :) :) :)

  • Wooooo! She's a keeper! Mairead has been the only thing I've liked about CW since Meav and Orla left. I hope Lisa Lambe stays with the group!

  • Beautiful.

  • what instrument is the man playing in the back?

  • @cbrat59 I believe it's a recorder...

  • @cbrat59 and @mastermoney92 its a type of Tin Whistle..they come in many keys which makes the notes sound different ...i cant tell which key this is though. only that it is a tin whistle

  • I have not watched Celtic Woman since Orla Fallon left. I couldn't...I just couldn't bare seeing them sing without her. But after watching this I am again mystified by this group. Lisa Lambe, you are beautiful.

  • I love her voice

  • After watching LL do an amazing job with the Keytones as a blonde and now with CW as a redhead... What is LL's natural hair color? Black, cause I certainly love the grond she stands on...

  • For me, Celtic Thunder is absolutely inaudible and is a complete imitation of Celtic Woman.

This is undoubtedly the best version of this song. Lil Lambe rocks!

  • This is undoubtedly the best version of this song. Lil Lambe rocks!

  • An angel in every way.Stunning!!

  • Swoooooooooon!! Beautiful

  • Utterly beautiful and sublime. Finally wonderful to see this magnificent performer and singer in a CW DVD. Lil' Lambe you are amazing. Gorgeous version!!!

  • Thank you so much for these videos

  • awesome!!! been waiting long long long for this to be uploaded.

  • This is how angels would sing.

  • I love this song but I have to say that Ryan Kelly does it much much better.

  • @jerichogurl actually, Ryan is covering Christy Moore's version...which is outstanding! But CW has such a different spin that they put on everything.....and this is heavenly.....

  • @thetexascelt that is true. This is a beautiful version to the song. And there are a few songs that I Think CW does better than CT. You raise me up is one of those.

  • @jerichogurl or Caledonia ;)

  • Totally lip syncing but still sooo pretty!!

  • @CALxSOxFLYRZ They NEVER lipsynch.....this was a live concert....I have been to several of them......they are just THAT professional....and amazing...

  • I've pledged to 4 PBS stations thus far for show tickets and preordered from Amazon as well. Nice to have this taste of the DVD until it comes in!

  • W O W

I only had to listen to it once to know that it would be one of my favourites. Lil Lambe is, of course, a wonderful singer, but i feel as though David Downes does not get enough credit. Not only does he chose the most beautiful pieces of music, he arranges them to suit the singers perfectly. Well done to all!

  • This is such a fantastic version

  • this song is like AMAZING!!! there are no words to discribe how beautiful her voice and this song is!!! <3

  • The best and sweetest version ever!!! =)

  • Wow...the Corrs did a great job

Lil just do it better !!!!!

    I just love it!!!
