The German fascists fought a needless, losing war against the brave and right, mighty Soviet Forces. I feel regret for every Soviet troop and civilian who died, and indifference toward the fascist Nazis who brought all this misery upon so many different peoples.

This was an aggressive war (decided & prosecuted as such at Nuremberg) by Nazi Germany that no nation asked for; not the Soviets, not the Poles, etc. What did German troops die for in battle? They died pathetically for nothing.

The Russians were the ones attacked and invaded, thus they fought for their fatherland. What's most important to countries is freedom of nation. And the Soviets, though nearly everyone of them had no wealth, food, or future, nevertheless fought for freedom of nation. Freedom of nation from the invading enemy, the Germans. Weaponology is a different subject.
@dror91 The russians fought for the soviet regime because 1. they were brainwashed by years of bolshevik propaganda being shoved down their throats 2. the soviets outnumbered the germans like 100 to one and they knew that if they rebelled against the regime they would be punished for it later, so when the germans liberated Russia they still fought for the communist party because they didn't have a choice. and the red imperialist's enslaved all of eastern Europe for 40 years.
@dror91 the soviets raped and plundered every country that they un-invietedly forced themself's into. the germans only invaded Poland to gain back what they lost in ww1. what was historicly german land. but then the allies delcared war on them for it. and they invaded the ussr because it was seen as a threat to Europe, which it was. and the germans fought not just for germany, but for ALL of Europe! for its freedom from american and soviet jewish imperialism.

I criticize the German people, military, and Nazi Party of WWII. But that doesn't put me on the side of the Soviets. The Soviets were scum, as you wrote, and I agree. I am trying to make the point of the pathetic fight of the Germans and the legitimate fight of the Soviet from an exclusively military view.
