  • I have not, nor will I ever, eat a possum.

  • oh yea bacon grease !!!!

if you haven't tried it as a seasoning --- don't knock it :) grew up on it and I'm still alive :)

  • For some reason, the accent reminds me more of Australians then the typical american accent, whereby it's generally easier understandable than many of the accents in England (as somebody mentioned below) cockney, scouse or welsh (which isn't english at all).

  • I know all those people in this video, the guy barbequing was a friend from my highschool.

  • iv been all over and there is no place like our mountains folks we are truly blessed to live in these here hills and for all you haters out there you couldnt walk a mile in our hillbilly shoes ;)

  • @inderneil im from mid southern appalacia and yeah we do talk thatta way lol

  • Rednecks LMAO. (so good it makes your tongue slap your forehead), What kind of Language is that? Lolololol

  • What kind of intellect makes a post like this? "Redneck" is an ethnic slur. Some of these people are rednecks while others aren't. And the language is inventive and wonderful unlike that of some Youtube trolls who can barely spell.

  • @melarry exactly I am from Appalachia in Southeastern Kentucky. We do have a colorful way of speaking and some people who are not from here appreciate that about us while others are to drab and boring to get it.

Southern people in general say things that a lot of people outside of the south do not understand. It does not make southerners stupid it just makes us who we are.

  • @tav168 I don't think Appalachian accents are particularly "strong" and certainly not incomprehensible... (I HAVE heard some almost comically strong and incomprehesible accents, such as is found in some Cockneys.) There appear to be foods from my region that one has to explain to other people, like "geoducks" (pronounced "gooey ducks", and they're kind of a very large clam) and Nanaimo ("nuh-NIGH-mo") bars, which is a layered dessert bar that includes chocolate and coconut and divinity.

  • @shmuli9 Nanaimo Okay I want some. I love Chocolate and Coconut, sounds divine.

  • @tav168 Nanaimo bars are VERY rich (a little slab does just fine), and they are often served slightly chillde, due to their somewhat perishable nature.

  • @melarry a lot of people call themselves that though (at least ive hard such done in kentucky). that word means a lot of different things. depends on the context

  • The area I was born in ;]

  • 0:13 loose....

  • Ah- as in apple

    Puh- as in please

    latch- as in latch

    yuh-

    pronounced like Apple-at-chuh

seeing as I live in Appalachia, VA, in the Appalachian mountains, i know these things

  • Hey Andrew, dig the show. What do you think about youtube feedback? Should there be any limit to negative comments? (if it goes past 10 they get censored. Why not show the worst of the comments with minus 600? Why eliminate the negative learning?) Anyway, you're one smart dude to make money off of traveling the world and living the epicurean life. You deserve every cent... :D

  • I laugh at the way non appalachians mispronounce the name. Try saying it the way we all do around here Appa latch uh,

  • I hate it when people butcher what took us hundreds of years to cultivate. Always somebody from outside telling us how we should say the words we use and they dont.

  • Is "latch" with a long A or short A? I'm form Central Alabama and we pronounce it with a long A...

  • Appa LATCH uh, not appa LAY cha

  • Ah. I don't even remember making that comment. I must've been tired that day or something...

  • same here=)

  • Hahaha love that thegoorooo :p You know we say it right and we should know bc we live in this great mountain state :) Hit me up if you wanna be mountain friends :p By the way I laugh at the way they say it everytime bc they think they know how its said and they act so proud lol :) God bless'em :p

  • Then dont watch you dumbshit ! You have a remote control use it.

  • Dude where did you find my dog?

  • 0:13 I saw a witch ! XD

  • That's my kin! XD Ignorant wretches make fun of bluegrass, but they don't pay any mind to the origin of the music which goes back to Gailic folk tunes of Ireland and Scotland. Appalachians and much of the South have a lot of Scottish heritage. So by making fun of Appalachians, they're also making fun of Scots (by unintended implication/extention).

Or perhaps that depends on the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. XD

  • I'm from Kentucky myself and I agree. I have

    eaten frog,squirrel,craw fish,catfish,oysters,

pickled eggs, and still love fried okra. I snack

on fried okra like someone else would snack

on popcorn with plenty of catsup on the side.

I also have an Irish last name of Tooley.

It might as well be a name like Kennedy

    and that's for sure Irish.

    methodistgirl

  • I've always prefered asperagus to okra and "devil'd" eggs (never underst0od why they're called "devil'd") over picked eggs. Actually, I don't like picked eggs at all. XD Devil'd with a dash of paprika for me. My grandma makes the best.

  • Methodistgirl, have you tried (homemade and ky fried of course) fried okra but stuffed with cheese or cream cheese? Its really good :) I love okra as well and yup Im also from the eastern part of ky :) I have had squirrel, crawfish, froglegs, frog, catfish, oysters, rabbit,REAL chicken,REAL pork (all parts from the pigs/hogs),deer and lots more :) I love fresh from the garden beans, greens(and wild),taters, tomatoes, jalapeno's,peppers, lettuce, corn and I can go on forever but you get my drift lol :)
