Tank Shock Tactics Warhammer 40,000

One question, if my wave serpent moves flat out, its moving at 24" (fast+skimmer) and cannot shoot, but if I have star engines I can only use them in lieu of shooting, which can only happen if I move at cruising speed (12"), so in total id be moving 24" but I wouldnt get the obscured bonus from the flat out rule. Am I missing something here or are the SE´s redundant?

after watching so many of your videos, being a Necron player and facing an Eldar player more then a few times, it would be an honor playing against. Not to be mean to my friend, but he uses predictable tactics and we have only played Annihilation, so there is predictability there. As I mentioned before though, it would be an honor to play against you.

Actaully how would you tank show a vehicle squadron? One hit on one vehicle in the unit? What happens to the rest?

I tankshocked yesterday (with a razorback with weapons stunned) against a dred with a multi melta. Oops... I went kaboom. No more shocking dreads for me...

once i saw a guy with 3 land raiders 4 rhinos and 1 predator tank shocked them all! its kind of an illegal battle though right?

hi, thanks for the vid, found it extremily usefull, I manatged to adampt it to chaos marines: I used your vindicator tactic but subtituded one vindicator for a defiler, people tend to go for the vidicator so I use them for decoy to draw fire, then I send the defiler acopaneyd by two five man rapaxe squad, the defiler tank shockes the enemy since it fenefits from the fast rule, and the rapaxe can move 28 inches and assault another 6 if need be, meaning they can move as much as any jet bike

No, what Fritz means by using Star Engines is to ensure that you're within 6" of the enemy after the unit in question has been tank shocked :)

Tank shock must be executed in the movement phase as per the rulebook, and star engines are executed in the shooting phase...

Its where you drive a tank at a unit instead of firing.

used to run over models (rarely) and break up enemy formations.

I -love- tank shock with a passion. I've only played 5 games of 40k, but in everyone one where it's been applicable, I've done it, and my friends are astounded by it. It always wins me games. The first time, I took out a Land Raider. With a battlewagon! <3 The second, previous Land Raider, on loan from a friend, LITERALLY took on a 1000 point Guard army -- the termies and the lib inside died horribly, but the LR valiantly tankshocked two units off tthe table.

I was playing my Mech Tau verus my buddy's Nurgle Daemons and he managed to corner two of my devilfish and a hammerhead with two deamon princes, a greater unclean one and a unit of plaugebeares using deepstrike , the only way out was to tank shock the daemon prince blocking a small path out of the ambush. He was confident he could bring my transport down so he death or gloryed. He was very surprised that he failed, I just feel sorry for the shas'la that had to clean the devilfish afterwards.

It actually works, I tankshocked 3 Tau squads yesterday and won some neat killpoints when my Prism lost it's main weapon on turn 6.

I still think that 2 Prisms with Fields/Stones are better then 1 Prism.

correct me if i'm wrong but when tank shocking, doesn't the unit affected by it have to take a morale check anyway regardless that it may Death or Glory? If I recall, when the units passes that morale check only then they can Death or Glory...Is this true? Pls confirm...

I tank Shock all the time. Best way to get rid of Ork Deffkoptas. Something I have actually been considering is just a plain Predator with just an Autocannon and Dirge Caster for 75 points. It's a mobile anti-light/medium tank killer until it gets close enough to tank shock at -1 leadership to the target.

Fritz, vypers can go up to 24 because they are skimmers and fast veichles, so can wave sepents(36" with the star engines).
