All I can say is: NOW THATS COUNTRY!! WOW! Great music combined with 2 of the best singers in the biz! I loved doing Gene Watson songs when i had my country band.
Wow I love this song more and more...........the sounds of great piano, fiddle, steel and lead guitar combined with two great, awesome voices in harmony makes me wanta dance in the moonlight with my woman. Thanks for giving us such joy.
@tchaikovskyhall You've got a big big amen to Gene Watson - what a wonderfully talented artist. The cream of the crop. He is still singing the good traditional country music, just as it should be sung and I love it all. He and Rhonda are a great duo. I have loved this song for so many years and many artists have sung it and done well but Gene is the man. Thanks for posting this. - Paula
When is Nashville going to come to its senses and start promoting real country music again? OK... so the crap pop sound sells. I'll give them that. But there ought to be some producers somewhere in that maze of bricks that can see the value in getting the traditional sounds back on the air and back on the streets; with modern digital technology to make it sound even better. Any takers??
Gene's voice is like vintage cheese---the older he gets, the better it is. Vocal range is still good and quality has not diminished. Rhonda is a perfect companion vocal and compliments his smooth delivery. This is good for the ears---more is better!
I saw this when it came up on TV. I was blown away. Rhonda and Gene made a good song great. Rhonda is, perhaps, the best female singer in country/bluegrass music. Love the music.
Gene , mister in my book , you 're way past many pretenders that ,already, call
the CMHOF...home . Your style is the pure easy essence of what is REAL COUNTRY MUSIC. You , like Paycheck , will be more popular , with future new-age country purists ,
than you are ,now , with this current amalgoration some call country music .
Rhonda is one of our best family friends. Weve eaten lunch together at my grandmas house and stuff. i love her tour bus. my parents and her met when she came to my dads recording studio plus one of the people from her band has also been my dads close friend for many many years (Audie).
Well get a 5 gallon bucket rarney58 because Buck Owens is among the elite crew such as George Jones, Vern Gosdin, Conway Twitty, Gary Stewart and an hand full of others. He has always been one of my favorites and I am sure there are millions out there that feel the same way. He's a pickin and I'm a grinnin.
This has to be one of the top 10 beautiful love songs of all time. When it's done so well here by Gene and Rhonda makes it so special. They are a terrific duo. I do like Buck Owens' version, too. perhaps it's because he sang it first for me. I am hoping and praying that Gene's new album will win an award - "A Taste of the Truth". Thanks again for posting this. I am commenting under my new user name here as my old one - PaulinaRena - got lost somewhere down Route 66 maybe. - Paula
Hi, I just subscribed to your old user name. Go to Dirks upload of Staying together. You commented on there. i clicked on your name and it took me to your original channel. :) Sharon
Thanks Sharon. I am still trying to figure out what YouTube did to me. It wlll always be a mystery I suppose. I commented on your channel. I do have to play this song here once a day - well almost all of Gene's songs are on my daily list. Take care. - Paula
Thanks for the book plug, wholcomb69. Yes, my book, "BUCK OWENS: The Biography," will be out in August 2010 if anyone is interested. It is a warts-and-all, 360-degree view of the man that I have put 13 years of my life into. Great duet, Gene. Love it! I love this song so much. Great tribute piece.
I love this duet & God Knows Gene & Rhonda are two of my favorite & the two best singers on the planet. But, as for Buck if you want the absolute truth, my friend Eileen Sisk is just finishing writing "Buck Owens: THE Biography" for Chicago Review Press due out in August 2010. I guarantee it will change everyones opinion of the man as she has spent the last 13yrs checking the facts even with Buck himself. You will get a good dose of SHOCK & AWE !
Oh, I always get confused as to how to reply. I guess I replied on your personal page. Anyway, Mark, I think you are being a bit harsh. I don't know anything about what he did to Merle Haggard. If he tried to cheat him, that's a bad thing. But, I enjoy Buck's music. He may not be the best singer in the world, but I like his style and the county sound of his voice and music. You certainly don't have to agree.
Mark, this is strong stuff, where did you get the information to back up this claim ? I have been a Buck fan all my life and judged him on the amazing talent he possessed, lots of artists got involved in country music in the early days by listening to Buck Owens and although he had his faults he was one of the most respected and talented artists in country music. Sadly Buck passed away in March 2006 but the Bakersfield sound he created still lives on.
It's in the biography of Merle in the book, "Sing Me Back Home." Also in California court records. I checked to make sure. It seems that I have stepped on some toes. But I don't care; we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
Like they say, opinions are like assholes... everyone has one.... you must of grew up sucking on a dill pickle and hating any good country music.... by the way Merle is a friend of mime and has no ill feelings toward the Buck!
@ramey58 merle haggard and buck owens had a dispute over ONE song not merles entire catalog.and dont forget with out BUCK OWENS there would be no MERLE HAGGARD. buck created the sound that merle makes a living off. i love the HAG!!! but the facts are the facts.
LoveConway - Even though I love this version by Gene and Rhonda I must say that I first heard this song years ago by Buck Owens and he does a heck of a job with it. My favorite of his love songs is "Crying Time". I watch his videos here and no matter who sings this song it's one of the most beautiful ever written and says so much. - Paula
Ever since I saw this video awhile back I have loved Gene and Rhonda as a duo. His fabulous voice just stands out like a shining beacon that draws you in. This song really showcases Rhonda I feel more than any other song she's done. Of course, this beautiful love song is one you want to hear every day - which I do listen to. Thanks again for posting. - Paula
I didn't know when I first watched this video that Gene and Rhonda are performing on The Crook & Chase RFD TV show . So many good shows from Laurie and Charlie have showcased many artists for which I am grateful. -Paula
Country stars of today should take some lessons from duos like these two

on the later ones. She is GOOD, and the song is well done by all.
