One of the great bands of my childhood. I love quite a few Roxy music songs,this being one,also Jealous Guy,Same Old Scene etc.

Cant wait till March 6th - I'm off to Villa Maria Vineyard, Auckland, NZ to see these guys. A couple of bottles of good Sauvignon Blanc, lolling on the grass under the trees with me old 80's pals listening to this stuff - a perfect Sunday arvo!

Back then (Back in Germany) , I was 14 , I Rainer and I listened to this song in his car many times...I did not understand a Word but I loved the song anyway...lol

today I can understand it...love it even more and starting to wonder..was that a message for me , from him...where is he today? and what is he doing...I would love to go back in time for just a few Days...

@SleazeCunt - there was a thing i remember reading years ago about miming on TV shows like TOTPops etc that all performers had to because the record companies at the time thought a possible bad performance would have an effect on record sales so the artist would have to mime if they wanted to or not. Also the logistics of stage set-up on some shows meant little room for any gear to sing live. All different now though.

There are songs that just bring instant goosebumps to your skin. This song certainly does it for me. It's too bad Bryan Ferry couldn't be headlining now. His music is timeless and classic. In the 80s, he had to share the stage. Now, he'd own it. Not many can actually SING like this man anymore. Beautiful melodies with simple, yet effective lyrics. I never tire of this song.

If you look at the album cover to Roxy's 'Manifesto' I think you'll find that the audience on this show was made up from the left-over shop dummies not used on that cover. Its the only logical answer unless they're deaf.

I went to some of this shows as a teen, well not in Germany, and it was mainly young people, not as old as here. Even if we'd go to see our teen idols, we were also "used" as audience for other acts in the same session. We were instructed what to do, where to sit, to swap seats between songs, to dance or not to, sit still or stand & clap our hands or sing along. I suppose the director asked the audience to act like that, so that's what they did.
