"RoY" on a Drum Kit, as such backing such notable Musicians,[masters]as Dolphy, Nelson, here w/ Burton, Getz.etc.That He, plays as a composition [kit] with notes and dynamic flow music On the Drums, Not many today w/ the popular [not Jazz] stlyes of [so called] Drumming can articulate, in that way .
In early 1965 Gary Burton;Roy Haynes;Steve Swallow, acoustic bass, backed Stan Getz & Astrud Gilberto on a European Tour.
Just before the Belfast concert Stan Getz refused to perform & left on the next flight.
After the Astrud Gilberto performance the audience was treated to most magnificient trio music by GB;RH;SS.Ears & minds were opened to new musical experiences. The audience left ecstatic.
Very nice combination with the vibes and guitar, Gary Burton was awsomb even back then. Anyone know what year this may have been? Late sixties, early seventies?
Fascinating viewing for Steve Swallow fans. He must've only recently just picked up an electric bass as he still has his upright on stage and he's watching his hands as if his life depended on it! AND he's playing fingerstyle. Sorry, nerd alert over.
I think the guitarist is Jerry Hahn. He's on the original recording of this anyhow.

I think it's near 1969. The album "Country roads" was recorder that year with the same group : Gary Burton, Jerry Hahn, Steve Swallow and Roy Haynes.

Incredible to hear this. I studied with Jerry Hahn at Wichita State 76-80, what an incredible guitarist and such a cool guy.
