yeah I had this storm too, and i live on a hill with really tall trees and a pond, and I was surprised none of them fell, but there was this gigantic pine tree that fell on my neighbors house though :(
@GettingThereGreen, You're right, that would have crushed half the house. I'm a tree lover but, I took down four others next to the house the last couple of years. That one was my favorite because it was covered with vines and many birds came there all year to feed and hang out. I was considering taking it down this summer because it leaned too far over the house.
Our house has a huge branch hanging over it... it's owned by the city though and we've already asked them to cut the branch off... still not gone... asked them 2 years ago.
@GettingThereGreen, I was able to get five trees removed from in the front of my house that were on township property. I went to the municiple building and filled out a form. On the form I wrote that the trees were a serious safety threat due to carpenter ant damage. They sent out an inspector and they took care of it within a couple months.
You probably already know this but, for others out there.
I needed to prove that it was a safety hazzard in order for them to act quickly.
to all you guys who have had bad weather, what doesnt kill you makes you stronger, my thoughts are with you and if i was there i'd help too. the weather is changing world wide, someting is definately up, We had a long winter in the UK and spring has come late here, the usual flowers are not here yet and the rain and winds are unusually high.stick together, i think we'll all be needing each other soon.
@Luvu2luvme, it's been a really strange and challenging year. As you say, it will make you stronger. I have been more motivated to prepare for the worst and see what others are doing.
You're right, ths small group of people on the tube have a lot to offer each other if the SHTF. I've already been helped a lot by seeing how others solve problems and prepare by watching their vids.
@beast12101, Thanks beast. This past year has given the strangest weather I've ever experienced. The things that are going on have made bug out, bug in and survival preps all very reasonable things to consider for those who are not doing as we are.
Thanks my friend, these are strange and trying days. It's good to know some real down to earth people like you. We are the type to gain strength from each other in trying times.
@EDINBURGSTAR, Wow, now I feel even more fortunate than before. I do need to replace my roof because the winter snow revealed some leaks but, it sounds like you took a real beating this year. My thoughts and prayers are with you my friend. We are the type that will get through the tough times. Keep me posted as to how you are doing.
Kamo it's always good to hear from you. I dont know what to say about the damage. Im still working on the damage done to my little ranch house. I lost three computers 2 very large commercial printers. laser printers. The roof to my office caved in. This was during the last hurricane. I work to repair the damage a little at a time.

That was a huge tree... you are really lucky it fell the other way... you'd have 1/2 a house if it had gone the other way.
