  • Ladies and gentlemen, we are listening to the work of the greatest lyricist in history. Period.

  • I'm a huge and longtime fan of Al Stewart, dating further back than I'd care to admit.

(It was "Roads to Moscow" that did it, of course -- I think played on 'BAI, or maybe "Alison Steele, the Nightbird"s show on WNEW, v late one night.)

But please tell me I'm not the only one who finds this more than a bit reminiscent of early (but post-Garfunkel) Paul Simon?

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

  • It's just one of those things. Goin' to drink and and drink and sink into that dark abyss.

  • I hope the man is doing ok

so few write songs like this

its just one of those things, one of those things

  • @kimbroadie Are you for real? :) Of course he's doing...FINE...Constantly performing, mostly w/ the wonderful entertainer/brilliant guitarist Dave Nachmanoff. The incredible/highly unique songwriting gift goes back about 20 albums. Just listened to Love Chronicles (circa '69) this evening as I walked the dog. So precocious, even then. His active, genius mind throughout the decades renders increased appreciation of his huge catalog of songs w/ repeated listens. Absolute quality!

  • Great song!
