I waited for my chance to see Albert live, and my wife bought me the tickets as a present, but the Iceman passed away before the concert took place: I was heartbroken. RIP Albert
Got to see Albert and Debbie in Columbia, MO. What a blues show. Debbie played with Albert and I mean with. She wasn't outdone and best of all, he played some in the parking lot. Saw Buddy Guy do that in Springfield, MO one time. Big crowds or just a few people, bluesmen and blueswomen have the same fire burning in them. Blues saved my sanity.
Yes, it's Debbie Davies. I saw Albert play Rockefeller's in Houston in about 1987, and she played alongside him on that show. I think it was probably the same personnel as in this video.
They brought the house down. Albert and his horns left the stage during the encore and played a good part of the number out on the sidewalk in the misty drizzle, on the curb of Washington Blvd. I'll never forget that night!
WOW! THERE IS A TON OF ENERGY ON THAT STAGE! WHAT A MEMORABLE NIGHT FOR THE BLUES FANS IN ATTENDANCE! THE DOUBLE SAX IS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE, BUT THE KEYBOARD PLAYER IS OFF THE CHAIN!
AND ALBERT---WHAT CAN YOU SAY!! CLASSIC! AND CLASSY!!
When A.C. passed on the family requested a very small, very private memorial. Albert was so loved and respected by so many people in the music industry, that request became a full blown 3 day blues fest. True story.
Love this aggressive style of guitar playing.. does anyone know what AC has around the body? It looks like a t-shirt for the tele :P It isn't black paint right..
@IJS84 It is a neoprene guitar sock. It just slide on, like you would put on a textbook sleeve or something. It is to protect his tele from belt buckle rash and other kinds of damage.
The keyboard player is the great Sidney James Wingfield, who Albert reportedly said was the most talented player he ever played with. Sidney was keyboard player for several years with the legendary Luther Allison. He also had an extended run with Big Twist & The Mellow Fellows, as well as recording with Lurie Bell & Matthew Skoller, among others. He has played with such greats as B.B. King & Mick Jagger. He is one of the hottest live venue players I've ever seen or played with. Works solo now.
@JackGarcia1000 AC was one of SRV's main influences. Listen ... the GRONK on the low E string, melodic stuff, you will hear a lot of Ice Man in SRV's hands and head.
@reneask79 I know. I was answering 2002mikeredd from a couple remarks above mine. Debbie is one hell of a player, and a nice lady as well. Very good sense of humor.
Saw AC in Buffalo. And during this song, he went on his guitar walk through the crowd. Then the man headed for the door, crossed a busy Main Street, and walked into a jazz club directly across the street with his horn section, still playing his ass off. On the way back he stopped in the middle of the street and just wailed away. Traffic backed up for blocks with people dancing in the street. I've never seen so many happy people that night. I still get goose bumps when I think of that night.
@AZtoh Loved Albert and Raoul's too. Check out his FB fanpage for some pics I took when I saw him in '82 or so. Keep my out these days for acts at 1 Longfellow Sq., the Landing at Pine Pt., Inn on the Blues and Rockland of course.
I am all but certain this is from the April 10, 1990 show at Buddy Guy's Legends billed as "Legend's Blues Summit." Buddy, Junior Wells, and Otis Rush also played sets, but I can tell you Albert completely stole the show! He and his band were ON FIRE that night. It was professionally recorded (for some European tv network) but I never saw any recording until now (ironically, 20 Years to the day!) DO YOUHAVE THE REST OF THE SHOW?? PLEASE POST MORE!!
Ain't Nuthin But The Blues... That's what Albert Said.... This smokes.... A C you are truly missed..... Sidney Wingfield burning up the keys.....Lucky me I get to play with him every week!!!!!
I have been sitting on my ass 10 hours today immersed in writing my 3rd book. As i poured my first drink of the evening, this is THE SONG that welled up within me, so much THANKS for posting.

Albert was a friend of mine for about the last 18yrs of his life and his Tele was a 1952 model that became the AC signature model by Fender before he passed. It had a humbucker in the neck and a single coil at the bridge with the old (ash tray) cover
After the keyboardist ends his solo and points at Albert to lead him in Albert clearly says good job. 2 saxophones at once, that is unreal. I can't play one! Thank you so much for posting this as I thoroughly enjoyed. Pixannany do you have anything else from this show? thanks again
