Continue to pay The Tele Tax for now. You're not breaking the law by not watching the BBC channels. You can watch any other channel. Just don't watch the BBC channels.

The money they pay for the BBC would pay the electricity for the years viewing of free channels. Especially those robbed by the BBC in houses of multiple occupancy where 8 licences can be demanded. You can own as many TV's as you want, the issue is if you receive a a live transmitted signal, which means you can watch things like BBC iplayer,and TV catch up, as they are not life transmitted signals, I was told this direct from the TV licence authority, so i cut my Areal cable, and threw away the sky box, not signal coming in to the house, just used for watching DVD's

@hadikarate they will fine you £1,000 and if you don't pay they will send you to jail, about nails it I think. All the best I guess you could call it a peaceful protest, not getting a licence, but the above would happen cos they people who enforce that law a brain dead, take any order their given types. I'm finding it a very rewarding pastime and would like us to build a community and be friends united against the injustice of bbc tv licencing. The more time we spend here the less argument there can be for paying a tv licence . We're not even watching it are we?

Great comment I wish I had the time to comment on them all. But having to use internet cafes or libraries to do all this on, I'll have to let that go by for now. But thanks for your efforts. Yeh I agree with you again that they should do digi boxes that don't have BBC channels that exempt one from paying for the licence! Or abolish it all together and have the BBC as a channel you pay extra for if you want it!

Yep they don't treat you with kid gloves if you get caught - they are very very strict if they catch you without a licence! But even if you watch a good film there is always some big mouthed presenter talking over the end credits - that really gets on my nerves!

Apparently they aren't sending people to jail straight away anymore, I am not sure what happens after none payment of fine though. But it would be women with their kids taken into care, meanwhile those oh so full of BS presenters would make out they cared for children in need. What hypocrisy from the bbc

Oh in our wildest fantacies that would be oh so nice to be able to do and then take them to the small claims court and get a judgement same as when the banks were dishing out those £30 charges to let you know you were overdrawn. Email your MP, like your name.

Yeh it's right what you are saying - the licence fee should be abolished, but I don't watch TV anyway as it takes over your mind and life - it's like a drug eventually hard to turn off - you get more done without it!

Its nice to watch a good film as well from time to time, but the government prefers that it cost and cost and costs, mostly the impoverished and ultimately the criminal justice people make a nice little earner out of those captured for none payment.
