I never saw this movie, but I was charmed by the novel when I was a teen. Eerie and frightening and endearing. I love this little clip of a movie that's no longer available for viewing. Thank you!
@howdidienduphere I just discovered I Start Counting (a really good movie) the other night. They have it at Netflix for instant watching. (I would love it if they would release I Start Counting onto dvd, Region 1.) I can't believe this movie is so underrated. I love dark coming of age drama thrillers! Also, the book is very hard to find. I would love to get my hands on the book I Start Counting by Audrey Erskine Lindop! They only have a few pricey copies at Amazon.com.
I've read somewhere that Basil Kirchin (the soundtrack arranger) wanted Cilla Black to sing the title song, but in the end the job went to the young daughter (Ms Moore?)of the drummer on the session. I'm sure she did a better job than Cilla would have done!
Things got very interesting at the start of the 1970's (in British films). Linda Hayden starred in a series of films feeding middle-aged fantasies about teen sexuality, but at the same time Jenny Agutter was making films suggesting that teens have their own sexual identity (which is nothing to do with middle-aged punters).
These days you only see Linda Hayden clones: Miley Cyrus, Aly and Aj, Britney. This is not progress.
@plane15 She has that face, the eyes, very "Suggestible," I think If she never made it into films, she could have been a great porn star, or at least, "Softcore."
@mojame100 You know I thought someone would have cursed me about my comment or something. Sorry, I dont know if this is on DvD, but if you asked in stores like HMV. They can order any film you're after, even if they dont have it on shelves. I ordered a really old 80s flick, that I've never saw in shops. Try them.
I was born in 1965...i loved her in her movies...the snow goose (ww-2 dunkirk), a french paris sun king movie with richard chamberlin... I saw on tv...and logan's run 1976 I saw at age 11 and I got my very first huge crush on a woman ever! (my older brother wanted farrah fawcett) we had huge arguements for decades!/milwaukee
Yes and Richard Harris and Jenny Agutter then went on to star in a film (or was it a TV Film?) called 'The Snow Goose' in 1971. And that's another classic that needs a DVD release and I believe 'Hallmark' films own it?
I love this film but its unavailable on dvd or video. Please can you put up the sequence where she's drunk in her brothers van and coming downstairs on her bum. Jenny Agutter's a terrific actress and that was one of the best drunk acts ever.
I watched this on Netflix!

Jenny Agutter was beautiful. This was a good movie. It was two stories in one. A girls infatuation and a serial killer on the loose.

I met Jenny 4 years ago, on the set of 'Diamond Geezer', in Leeds, when I was a TV extra, and she's a wonderful friendly person

Any film that starts with a girl putting on her school knickers has got to be a good 'un........

Thanks. Was there nothing Harris couldn't do? Not necessarily well, but do nonetheless.

A great performance from the great [and stunningly gorgeous] Jenny Agutter.
Her drunk scene is superb.

That lovely Cooper Black typeface again in the titles, one of the iconic fonts of the 60s for me...

Jenny Agutter's one of the fastest putting on a bra I've ever seen! LOL! ;)
SammyLucifer 3 years ago
:) My girlfriend puts her bra on like that (fastening it at the front then whipping it round) and has done since she was thirteen apparently...
