I bought this game in 2004, played it non-stop on the pc. Then my mom told me to go outside and play some football, cause it would be healthy for me to go out once in a while. I broke my leg during that game of football, and Tropico was never the same again for me :P

This reminds me a lot of "Evil Genius". Well except without all the cool undercover ruling the world killing everyone thing. Seriously... check out Evil Genius! lol
Great game, there was also a game called Spring Break which was along the same lines as Tropico...only it was all resort based. Two great games if the Sim City games got too complex to enjoy.
I played it once when it was released, and never again. Im instaling again. I remember being a good but complicated game for me at that age. But now im older and wiser and i think i can handle it lol.
I think I saw a Pirate version of this, where you have to build stuff to cater to your pirate troop needs and creat trade etc. It even had a whore house I seem to remember
pirate cove is very very boring .. basically in this case instead play Pirate cove "tropico 2" ppl should go for Sid Meyer Pirates which is amazing compared but really.. i cant compared sim city 4 with tropico 1 and his exp pack really ! Tropico is unique and because the simplicity the player imagination goes very high ! k
TROPICO 3 is better... :D

This is a very old game (2001 I think). So I don't think its a look a like. The game has really nice music.
