  • This is like Data playing guitar.

  • you are the best i like you man

  • This guys is a total genius.

  • otro Clon de Paco

  • amazing technique....

  • Original or not ,it's mindblowing to see

    someone besides Paco or Sabicas

    play Paco or Sabicas. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i dont think that a man like grisha can speak

he simpaly let his guitar do the work

  • He is the greatest guitarist that I had the pleasure of hearing. Thanks to y-tube and internet. I am amazed how anyone can use fingers at that speed. Thank you, Grisha. I hear him almost twice a week without fail. Let it be the same music.

  • GREAT!!!! Technique - perfect, fucking perfect!!!! Sound: non-flamenco IMAO!!! too much pressure. Grisha is great guitarist, but! where is compas and metro and THAT "tone"? He plays very cool, but it's not a circus, no one cares about technoque now ( i mean Paco already surprised averyone) where is music? where is emotions? Anyway 100 points!!! but i would start to write my own music (or try to write) with that skill!

  • hehehe, you don´t have too much idea about flamenco in my opinion of course, otherwise you wouldn´t critize him...you mentioned metro, sound...sorry man, but çgrisha has more than enough of that..the only thing he lacks it´s accompanishment... and you don´t know Grisha to suggest he doesn´t write his own music, BTW...

  • I don't criticiZe him at all.. its just my opinion:) "MORE THAN ENOUGH"??? hahaha... he told you THAT?! ;) Of course i dont know Grisha pers., but hi could upload some of music, his OWN music for his FANs... BTW ;)

  • Guys, so many negative commennts: let me remind the verity - one who criticize is unlikely to be able to play himself.why dont you download your videos here - we would comment on. "craftsman plays others pieces not his own"??? well, is Richter a craftman or a real creator of music? Or, Paco, playing Chardash by Monti, a craftsman? It doesnt matter whose music you play, it matters HOW YOU DO IT!because art is a heartsong and Grisha is not Paco, he is Grisha!

best wishes to him and all artmen!

  • There's one thing I can't agree with - you DON'T have to be able to play like the musician to criticize his playing. Like movie critics don't have to be able to make movies to criticize them. Not everybody in the audience is a guitarist, I'd even dare to imagine most aren't, so what, they can't say they didn't like it?

My personal opinion about the vid is tho, that Grisha is a great player, one of the best technique-wise, and to me it sounds as flamenco'ish as it can get =)

  • amaziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing

  • Florafox:

That is exactly correct about playing for singers as a flamenco guitarist. The concert Flamenco guitar is an interpretation of the song form created and sung by the singers. It is not being a copy-cat. There is not one great Flamenco guitarist in Spain that makes a living playing other people's Flamenco guitar music, note by note.

  • Flamenco is not the art of soloists, it is always played by a singer, dancer, sometimes with palmas, only accompanied by guitar .Paco always worked with other musicians.

  • I think all of you are idiots. He is not better than any great Flamenco. A great Flamenco has to create and be original within the tight rules that is Flamenco. This guy is a street musician from the 3rd street prominade in Santa Monica,CA. He imitates all the pieces from other original Flamencos and this in itself lowers his count significantly. None of you know anything about the Flamenco Guitar and more importantly you don't know Flamenco. Sad to say .

  • You are too old Federico and tour brain is not flexible enough. Sad to say. Time changes.

  • WORSTEVAAR, a little presumptuous, aren't we?

  • Thats right my friend ! He is a brilliant copy of other great players, but among flamenco-experts this doesn't mean so much. He should come out with own material.

  • @florafox yes he could come out with his own music but everything has a cost and so it is doubtful he could find the time to master these masterpieces. He has to make a living, right? Well, it seems to me it may be a smart decision to explore the music

of the masters not only in flamencol, but also classical. In fact, that's what almost all classical guitarists do anyway!

  • Guys, I have seen this kid a few times and I myself have been playing all my life. This kid IS better than Paco and many others of yesteryear. His technique is superior and as time goes on he will surpass them all, watch...

  • I agree. And Grisha seems to be humble and this is very promising. And can't be said about these self-appointed experts who criticize him..

  • nice playing

i dont think hes an amazing talent tho

he has been playing his entire life

being brought up with something, u get good at it

    hes not innovative at all

he just plays wat hes taught

    unlike Jose Feliciano

who puts blues in the middle of Malaguena :P

  • imitation not more...

  • I do not agree with poupee58. Grisha is greater than Paco. Paco is just greater as a name, but if we forget their names and just compare the technical ability of the both players, Grisha is greater. And everything is fine with his rythm.

  • you give me a laugh when do you said that paco is just a name and i can tell you why he is just a name? and do you think really that's grisha technique is better? if you think it is because you never play flamenco guitar because paco's themes are very very dificult to play and grisha is imiting paco sounds but ther are a very great diference betwenn the god and a human

  • Ridiculous ! what you say. How can a copy be better than the original ? As far as I know Grisha never played a note of his known. How does it feel to be a clone? If you are impressed by technique go to Yamashita. If you are impressed by speed go to Shawn Lane. True masters play their own music.

  • have you not seen his other vids you must be out of your mind this man can play anything and lets face it if he can play this well im sure i he could play any style in any rhythm and hes is not known for playing fast learn a lil before you make remarks like this

  • Of course Paco himself is a great supporter of Grisha, an admirer in fact. I'm not sure how Paco could have failed to recognize these allegedly huge flaws in Grisha's playing.

  • que facultades tiene este tio,es increible.aver si sacas algo tuyo.por que mas vale un ole tuyo que mil de otro-.

  • very impresive thie master olèèè

  • Ole!!

    Encore!!

    Encore!!

    Increible!!

  • phenomenal interpretation of paco de lucias buleria. special tuning (1st E-string down to D and 2nd B-string down to A). this guy rocks every which way to sunday.

  • This guy is awesome, robert fripp is short to this guy, i bet thsi tecnique is much more harder and we all love this classic expressive complicated style of music, when the artist fuses with the instrument and plays his emotions so gently flowing.

  • I was waiting for somre reply from Nei57 & florafox.

Grisha plays Flamenco for a long time. If you dont like some aspects of his playing, I'M SURE IF HE WANTS HE CAN PLAY EXACTLY ACCORDING TO YOU TASTE.

Some things I wrote seems to be "weird", but I cant explain exactly here. 500 chars limit!

I "think" you have some "nontrivial knowledge" of Flamenco, but you are not in position to say: "Grisha, do this", "Grisha do that". You dont have too much knowledge! 8-D !!

    Sorry for my bad English.

  • Nei57 & florafox - I´m sorry for some words Nei57. You mentioned P. Pena, a master. "I have to admit you´re right", but unfortunately you could not be able to explain everything here. RHYTHM. On the other hand, Grisha plays for more than 20 years! What about "if the rhytm is not 100percent"? 20 years!

And Grisha plays music Paco wont play again. Pinonate is from "Solo Quiero Caminar". For me, thats great!

Finaly, R. Cortez(s) "can copy" Paco?

    watch?v=BmcYyPz35Ro

Show some good video of him.

  • it all has to do with "Gema". While Grisha has to pay for every Paco-title, Rafael doesn´t have to pay because he plays his own music and "tico tico" is free of license! When I visited Rafael in Altenessen in his home he played Paco´s "Monasterio de sal" (Colombianas) for me! It was very close to the original !!

  • "Monasterio de Sal" is a diffcult piece. There are some tough fast picados! If "it was very close to the original", then he is great player. I'd like to watch some good videos of him. Suggestions?

  • what Nei57 says about flamenco rhythm is absolutely correct. By the way, there are other guitarists able to copy Paco´s playing nearly perfectly for example Rafael Cortez , who has the same birthday as Paco! but he plays his own compositions and improvisations.

  • Please, send me some good videos from Rafael Cortez(s).

    It's this?

    watch?v=NhkLoMkSz9I

  • I was there at his June 20 concert in LA. what you hear and see on youtube is not even comparable to when you see him live. I was lucky enough to meet him and buy both his cd's with his signature on them.

    LIFE CHANGING GOOD!!!!

  • he has good technique but he s lacking good rhytm. for bulerias there are no compromises with bulerias.

if the rhytm is not 100percent, the player can never be a good FLAMENCO player.

  • HAHA!! PATHETIC. IGNORANT. Grisha's talent was recognized by Paco De Lucia, Eliot Fisk, Christopher Parkening. Did you know that? He studied with Fisk and Parkening. They studied with Segovia. Lack of good rhythm? WTH do you know about Flamenco rhythm? This guy plays Flamenco for more than 20 years!!!!! PACO SAID HE IS GREAT, SO HE IS GREAT. THE END.

  • i dont think u know what i mean. when i listen to bulerias i like to hear it really sharp.thats how i was taught by paco pena, who i am studying with.

he is a great guitarist, that we agree on. i believe if he had palmeros accompanying him, i would get that sharpness from him.without palmeros or cajon, his compass is a little bit accelerando and ritardando.which, anyways, happens with many guitarists.

  • It seems you have some knowledge about Flamenco, but... Please, say some "good FLAMENCO players" (expression you used). He plays for more than 20 years! Do you think he doesnt understand Flamenco rhythmic complexity? Do you think he cant play a Buleria correctly?

I cant explain what I mean...

    Sorry for my bad English.

  • "i dont think u know what i mean"

It seems you're right. I have to say: I have almost no knowledge of Flamenco rhythm. I have never studied Flamenco.

    "he has good technique"

Here I disagree. I think he has much more than "good technique"...

  • It is quite interesting that you mention Segovia because he had his own concept of rhythm and metre, he never accepted mathematics in rhythm ! Only a soloist has the right to do this. Fisk and Parkening are not on the same level as Grisha, he could be their teacher.I am telling this from 40 years of guitar experience. Grisha is great but he needs some other musicians to develop his own style.

  • Grisha is a perfect guitar player, but he should stop copying Paco´s style, he should develop his own improvisation or composition and he should mix with other musicians.

  • We do not agree with this statement.

Playing and composing are two different things. Not every good player is a good composer necessarily. Someone has to keep the legend's work. Your comments imply that no one else should ever again play works of Bach, Mozart, Paganini, etc, since that would be copying, and the good players should just write their own stuff? Absolutely not!

The legend's works should continue by flawless performers, such as Grisha Goryachev!

  • what you say is only true concerning modern classic business ! The old masters like Bach, Händel, Paganini, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven were excellent improvisers, they were composers as well as virtuosos. This is the same with modern jazz musicians and rock musicians. To be only a skillful player is a craft not an art !

  • @imsevents you are absolutely correct. Some of these critics probably can't even tune a guitar much less go on stage and perform at world class level.

  • @imsevents i disagree with you ! Composing and playing .. is being a legend just like Paco is !!! Paco didnt get all the fame because of only playing guitar perfectly .. but also because of his amazing pieces !!!

Grisha is an amazing Guitarist No doubt about it .. But if he wants to climb to the next level with Paco and Other guitarists such as El Nino .. he needs to compose his own master pieces !!

Or he will be always waiting for Paco to compose and play what he did :) ..

  • @gnawy113 yes. By accident i read your comment and what i have written 2 years ago. Perfect players without improvisation or composition are craftsmen. " very important "people like imsevents (who speaks of himself in the plural) don't get that. By the way - Bach Paganini Mozart were excellent improvisers.

  • @florafox and by experience .. people who "copy" .. although the term "copy" is quiet negative .. they usually have i dunno how to say this but they dont go as far as people like paco, Nino, Marchena, Sabicas .. those are legends !!! .. i really want one day to listen to grisha's master piece .. and be like man that guitarist finally made something !! and i think he does have a Cd but Grisha is known by his playing not by his own music !

  • He is an INTERPRETER florafox, not a composer. At least until now. Maybe in the future he compose some music. Maybe not. Grisha said he plays some music Paco doesnt play anymore. Thats great!!! Keeping Paco's old stuff alive! Like this Buleria, Pinonate!

Julian Bream doesnt compose, then he is a "copier". Also John Williams. "Copiers". Thats obviously wrong, absurd. They are not composers. They are GUITAR PLAYERS. They PLAY the music of the COMPOSERS.

    Sorry for my bad English...

  • @florafox i agree with you. Making masterpiece like this one is very difficult. Paco de Lucia isn'tone of the best flamenco guitarist ever because of his fast playing and incredble technique but because he revolutioniseflamenco and guitar and made his own music and because he made so many great compositions. He covered so much and that's why he is best. There are a lot of incredible playerslike Grisha with incredible and fast technique but very few of them are able to make their own music.

  • excellent!!!

    UPLOAD MORE..... PLEASE!!!!!!!!

  • He is brilliant!!!

    UPLOAD MORE, PLEASE!!!!!!!!

  • Maestro!

  • click on 'watch in high quality'...

  • nice video. the sound quality is ok to. I am still just as impressed by his incredible technic that i was two years ago. Even if he play classical flamenco i still love the soft sound of his guitar.I would really like to see him live at some point. Keep on playing Grisha!!
