  • Great video man! Never really tried tapping because it seemed ever so difficult , this tutorial is perfect man keep these coming!!!

  • hi how to download this

  • Thank you!

  • It's AWESOME!!!!

  • Great lesson man. after watching that.. is seriously easy :)

  • Thank you so much for your lesson @Dmanlamius76 ! I'm doing well now thanks to you ! :DDD Keep on it !

  • thank you mate this really helped :D

  • Thank you

  • nice lesson : D

  • omg best video, thanks

  • really good video dude! Did you ever do a part 2 to this?

  • Thanks a lot, this is too cool! I am playing it xD

  • thx man

  • Thank you, this helped rather well.

  • this helped so much, thank you (:

  • Is there a specific way my fingers on my right hand should land on the fretboard when tapping?

  • Wow! I started tapping thanks to you, omg, this is so awesome! Thaaanks!!!

  • So you just press the strings basically? What to do to make it sound a bit louder? Thanks!

  • I love you.

  • Wow you are amazing and this is so useful as an introduction because it's easy yet it sounds really good. Thanks!:)

  • thanks for that video,it helps a lot how to tap on bass, 10 stars ,and how long have you been playing bass

  • i have a low action bass... how does that effect the sound or the technique?

  • @merfeldaniel It does ever so slightly, yes. For the better :)

  • Great lesson! I really like your style of teaching, it makes it easier to understand.

  • Thanks for the video. Is there any optimal Amp EQ for doing this?

  • @ganonuchia You need enough treble to be able to hear the tapped notes coming through. Not too much though, or it'll sound twangy. Experiment with your sound, and find what sounds best for you :)

  • @Dmanlamius76 Thank you! I will try it out

  • @Dmanlamius76 i find boosting the mids around 1khz to 3khz helps the pull offs.. hammers are easy.. treble is a good part of it though.. having an eq pedal with an on and off switch can do WONDERS.. cause you can switch from tapping to normal sound..

  • u got mad patience this sounds sick bro good looks for dis :D

  • @urzathehappy72 ur retarded

  • Wow, very nice (: does this help coordinate your right and left hands? My right hand can play YYZ, but my left can't. D:

  • @mcblahflooper94 Yes it does :)

  • Hi, I am Taiwanese.

    I really like your video.

Thank you for your teaching and sharing.

  • awesome lesson man

    u changed my life

P.S.- is it just me or does that bassline sound better without phaser??

  • tappings hard on fretless

  • im already mastering it... its so easy.. and it's your fault ;-) (and 2 hours of practice yesterday ;-)) Sounds great... I just need to have the double tapping in place... :) practice practice practice ;-) Will my fingers ever stop hurting again hehe ;-)

  • OMG... so simple you make it look... and it works... You are from now on my favourite music teacher ;-) You give me back the pleasure of playing bass, thought it was gone... but here it is again ;-) thx m8

  • @Mickee2605 No problem :)

  • You are the best bass teacher ever ! I can finally do it !

  • thank you so much! i finally understand how this technique works, i'll keep watching your lessons to learn more. Thanks again!

  • Nice :) now all i need is a bass!!!

  • Feel like Victor Wooten after seeing this video, it's amazing, dude!

  • What bass do you use?

  • good explanation !!

  • that bass melody makes me feel happy!!!

  • omg im doing it, amen!! i never felt so happy lol XD

  • @ragnaroksama Excellent! :)

  • @Dmanlamius76 oh maan! im trying to do the tapping section of eruption on bass, and i can do like the first 2 seconds (dont have tabs yet) and its GREAT! Thank U Thank U!!! xD

  • You have just learned me how to tap! Thank you!

  • Thanks for being awesome. Seriously.

  • Could you do a lesson on triple finger tapping with the index, ring, and middle fingers tapping.

  • thnk u very much :)))))))))

  • thank you! I learned

  • 英語解らないのに、内容がすごく解りやすくて良いです!

    Thank you!

  • hey just wanted to know it this an actual song or just an excercise?

  • Do you need any special strings or something? Its rather hard for me to tap my strings, and the sound is squicky and boring.

  • @Blixzful you need to practice...your fingers have strenghless

  • @PantallidetH0 Well i master the technique of slapping and popping, so i might not think they're strengthless. Could i have something to do with my frets or can you tap at any bass with any strings, its just a question about technique and fingerstrength? Been practicing a few times now, doesnt seem to get any close to the tapping technique.

  • @Blixzful they would sound good anyway the strings are harder or softer, but i dont know may be yes

  • you just gave me the knowledge to tap,i can do it now, i thank you so much, your a great teacher, im so happy

    Thank You

  • @MetallicaBassist123 Excellent, glad you've got something good out of it :)

  • You've earned yourself another subscriber. Thank you.

  • got tired of waiting for advertising..clicking off this nonsense sorry.

  • @Govner2 No problem. Blame youtube!

  • i want your bass... :3

  • I find it hard to tapp and slapp when you play on a downtuned 5 string bass (F#C#G#D#A#). Is it easier to learn on a 4 string with normal tuning (GDAE)?

  • I really like this vid...it's verry informitive...but I have a qustion...are you using flat wound strings?

  • do you have an effect going thru your amp?

  • cheers! it helped a lot, but i don't recognize tapping from any songs.. are there any songs you recommend i should listen to just to see what to be looking out for?

  • @edwerp It's difficult to recommend songs to people, because we may have different tastes in music. But if I were to throw on at you, i'd say "Jerry was a race car driver" by Primus :)

  • @Dmanlamius76 you would actually recommend Jerry Was a Race car driver! Les won't evel play that tune anymore because of it's technicalities

  • @Leotheleprachaun I don't think he'd find it too technical, as its not actually that hard once you get it down. I think he means singing and playing it at the same time, which is a nightmare!

  • Great little lession ! switched to bass after playing guitar for 10 years and learning alot of cool stuff from u! thanks alot man.. keep up the great vids

  • @Nuve11 Glad you enjoyed it :)

  • this isn't meant to be a hate comment, but it sounds very... ugly/muddy.

    is it supposed to?

  • @arrowxhead3p Yes. It's best if you drag your bass through a muddy puddle before playing this. Alternatively, you could adjust the settings on your amp...

  • @Dmanlamius76 alright then. no need for rudeness

  • @arrowxhead3p Sorry! In all honesty though, mess with your settings :)

  • thanks...

  • my fingers hurt not... but i learned a lot!

  • what song is this?

  • thx alot, this deffinetly helped me take my deep and scary dive into the realm of tapping,i cant wait to get better at this :)

  • @rawrawr6666 No problem :)

  • Thank you for a great lesson! Love your teaching style. It has been very helpful.

By the way, those who call you a "Wanka" are the same F-wits who watch 'Python' and do an awful version of a British accent and think they sound authentic. You know, the twats who say, "Bluh-dee' trying to say Bloody. Unlike "herb" there is no fucking "H" in it. (credit Eddie Izzard)

    Thanks again!

  • @Dolph1778 Ha Ha! Thanks man :)

  • Legal, veja o meu em:

    watch?v=OxGU7mL4ZOQ

  • thanks dude this was extremely helpful!! very sexy ernie by the way

  • man great lessons...it helped me alot...thank you

  • hi, are you married

  • will you marry me....

  • Nice bass and nice accent lol..!

  • @XaviOrtega1 Thankyou :)

  • I hate lessons without presentation at the beginning :/ Waste a lot of time before deciding to leave ;/

  • @pdawiec Good. Bye.

  • thx for yours teaching~ this help me a lot

  • Hey Dude ! Great lesson this will denitely help me !

  • 0:00

  • nice

  • Too much fret noise from the RH.

Best I can figure to reduce the slap noise is to control speed of hitting and hit firmly into the fretboard to not give the string the chance to continue bouncing off the fret.

  • That sounds like doodoo. You tap like a beedin wanka.

  • @Riotbass69 Lol, at least I don't spell like one. Youtube isn't a place for me to look cool. It's a place to put down ideas, and educate where I can. If that doesn't interest you, you know where the door is. Don't come back, eh?

  • @Riotbass69 Dude he has a Stingray, automatically making him better than you.

  • @Jesusfreak101Bemis the type of bass you have doesn't determine whos better. its the talent. i have been playing one year on my dad's 35 year old ibanez and im shredding YYZ already so think before you speak

  • @GeddyxFlea How about you learn what sarcasm is?

  • @Riotbass69 your a fkin idiot, he taps just fine.

  • @Riotbass69

    LAWYERED!!

  • Thx for the lesson. What bass is it? Isn't he sane bass that flea from rhcp use? Nice if you answer

  • @pigolho1 Yes, thats right :) It's an ernie ball musicman.

  • @Lamborghini652 yes very easily. same notes and everyhing, minus the B and e string.

  • dam i thought my freind invented tapping on bass cause were playing a song and then he rips out his tapping bass solo i go wtf

  • wow, it realy help me awersome !!!

  • that was exceeding easy to learn! i have never picked up something so quickly over the internet before this video, thank you very much.

i just wanted to ask, should i put the action height higher for every string to prevent the buzzing?

im a tradiontal non-tapping player who would love to learn something new, and i've always kept them low to have a feel for the bass

  • @981407036x Hello, there! No, i'd say keep your action as low as possible. The higher the string off the board, the more effort it'll take to tap down. This'll cause you more problems than having your string higher...

  • wow I had no idea u could play chords on bass like dat wit melodies, learned alot just from this video which will enhance my bass playing tremendously

  • @sonoroustripleh Excellent! :)

  • @Lamborghini652 depends on how long you have played guitar, but many people think bass is the same as the guitar but with less strings and it is easier, well theyre wrong! Bass is a whole kind of different technique and sound understanding....

  • @Superhenki Amen!

  • @Superhenki well if you can play guitar you can pick up on bass pretty guickly because of the string configuration so you already may know your scales and such, but to actually get really good takes time and will, just like any other instrument

  • maybe i should go get myself a fretted bass. fret-less is fun but makes things like this murder

  • So you tap by tapping.... thanks for the halp.

  • do you need a low action for this?

  • @holybringer You dont NEED one, but it definatly helps...

  • Comment removed

  • that sounds so awesome dude and thanx i needed to know this you got a sub from me!!

  • thx it helped

  • @thegreatsolar Lol, disagree. It's an Ernie ball Musicman!

  • Out of all the brief lessons I view, your video was the most helpful. You explained everything with much patience and you made sure your viewers saw your finger techniques up close where you can actually see exactly what you are doing. I hear the acsent in your voice, but that dosen't mean you're far away. If by chance are you in the city of Chicago? Interested in taking private lessons.

    Thank you,

    Ms. D.

    My stage name is Shugar

  • the greatest tapper uses a stingray! jeez

  • I speak english .. but i dont understand what he say. o.O*

  • Very useful lesson. Thanks a lot!

  • thanks i just learned how to tap thanks to you!!!!!!, 2 days ago i got a sterling musicman silver burst and i always wanted to tap so it rocks on mine

  • exactly what i was looking for.

easy way to get introduced to bass tapping.

  • that sounds so cool!

  • I'm not a pro, but sorry, for me it didn't sound too good, but a great excersice! Thanks.

  • John Myung, Metropolis Part 1.

  • @greggzccfclfc

    1. i don't know, i'm not english.

    2. no, stingray basses (like jazz or precision basses) are pieces of bass history.

you can tap on shecters, yamaha, or ibanez, or every other new-era basses, but not on a piece of history like that.

    3. thank you!

  • @bRaKK0 It's a musical. It's supposed to evolve, and be an instrument of creation and imagination. A tool to experiment and express ourselves with. Whilst I understand what you're saying, I disagree, because I think that once we say no to anything, we block ourselves from creative ideas, and create a mental box for ourselves. Experiment, try new ideas, explore and have fun! If we don't try new ideas, we'll never evolve as musicians. Don't forget, the instrument is only a tool...

  • @Dmanlamius76 I like the way you think.

  • @bRaKK0 you realize the brand Musicman was founded by Leo Fender right? and you must also realize that the stingray is not a new age bass because the first one came out in about 1976

  • I can play the melody and tap the notes just fine, but every time I tap a fret, the strings vibrates from both sides, from the nut to my finger and from my finger to the bridge, if you see what I mean. So, I end up with a really horrible harmoney. What can you recommend for muting the strings?

  • i'm a professional bass player but even i found this vid useful. i had neglected tapping but now i have this lovely warmup excercise i'm trying lots of new things. thank you =]

  • @monkeyman2812 I had that same problem. This is the first time it's happened to me. I just muted it and opened a new tab!

By the way, this video helped a lot! Thank you Dmanlamius!

  • sounds extremely bad :O

and ur left hand position.. couldn't be more wrong -.-'

  • @ClaesSkou How would you know? He's a teacher and your watching an instructional video T.T ......

  • simple and easy, good job!

  • ur the best teacher.

  • belive in your selfs a little bit....ahuauhuhauhahuahuhahuhuhaa!!lmao!

    awesome dude!

  • @bRaKK0 lol

  • @bRaKK0 maybe he didnt want to buy a new bass to appease that you think someone shouldn't play a particular instrument a particular way.

  • @bRaKK0 lol

  • @bRaKK0 what the hell is the problem with tapping on a stingray? its a great bass for every technique. why the hell would he get a yamaha just to tap?

  • @bRaKK0 i think what the Dman is trying to say, but wont because hes to polite is, shut up you tit!!

  • thanks, this helped me get started on tapping :)

  • Its so simple when explained in easy to understand lessons thanks once again D-Man

  • thanks alot buddy again..u make it look easy.....im confident that with your exercises ill be a good bass player....seriously man..good guy....:)

  • thanks for the lesson and God bless you

  • I can tap but i have no idea on how to play Koc by muse using this
