STARIS was actually named IRIS. But they didn't accept the name. So they changed it to STARIS.

New system looks like it has a better formatting than the old one. Prefer how they show the info. Long messages shouldn't be placed on the LEDs though. I think that is something SBST has caught on well. SMRT needs to improve in that respect.
Oh, I wasn't dissing SMRT. I was just saying that I preferred the NEL's simplistic info and perhaps SMRT could learn from that. I agree that it is a good step over the ones installed on the newest trains of the fleet.

Looks quite innovative. Actually, it was based on SBS Transit's Iris system which are used for SBST's bus service.

THE IRIS HAS NOTHING EQUAL TOWARDS THE STARIS.
C'mon TintinSpartan, I know you've never been on the ONE MRT TRAIN that has the STARIS installed in. Admit it... You've never seen it by face!

i think SMRt had done quite a good step with this system...
anyway this is still under test... for 2 mths, so i think it will be re-improve for other trains.
