Nick Lucas initially made the song "Side By Side" popular. The song writer Harry Woods asked Nick to 'rescue' the song,(the publishers wanted to shelf it). Nick originally recorded "Side By Side" in early 1927 and it charted a No. 3 hit for him that year. Subsequently more artists recorded "Side By Side" and it became a Pop standard. Nick recorded the song several more times during his career.
