I vacationed to Myrtle Beach in June of 2008 with my family for a national dance competition. We stumbled upon this park and it was the BEST theme park I've ever been to. My family and I are music lovers and we were in heaven. I am still sad that it no longer exists. :(

We drove past the closed park this past Tuesday after a trip to Myrtle Beach. This coaster looks incredible from the freeway, yet it's so sad that the place sits lifeless.

That was the best ride I have ever been one! It's such a shame it's gone! We went on about 10 times, and we were only at the park for a few hours! I really really really hope they try something like this again! I don't want to go to "Freestyle Music Park" if there is no Led Zeppelin The Ride.

The park closed due to financial troubles. They should transfer it to Disneys Hollywood Studios, they got the Aerosmith ride already. Perfect fit.

I'm glad I was able to go to the park before it's collapse. It's not worth going anymore, but this ride was best in the park. This, Knights In White Satin, and The Eagles ride were the BEST. Would've been huge to keep the Hard Rock name in Myrtle Beach. Would've added to the tourism once word got out more. But it's in such a random place. It's not really in the main part of Myrtle Beach, it's where a bunch of random businesses are. And tourists aren't going to pass that enough to know what it is

the potential this park concept had was amazing, poor advertisements, and goals that were impossible to reach is what killed this park twice, I went on opening day when it was Hard Rock Park and the atmosphere was awesome. When it became Freestyle Music Park it just was not the same. I still could hear Led Zeppelin on the Time Machine and i could still see and hear Nights In White Satin. The location and many other things have lead to the park being liquidated in the coming months....Sad day.

grrrrr..... I went to hard rock park the last time I was at myrtle beach with my dad. They changed the ride to the Time Machine or something. It still has good music, but i would have prefered the best experience with LED ZEP!

We went on this ride during the June 2009 "official opening". We are so glad we go to see this when it was Led Zeppelin themed. thanks "Coasterman" for filming this. We had our eyes closed when we rode it!

I just watched a show in Discovery channel in which they showed how they built the Hard Rock Park. What happened to the park? I thought the rollercoasters were cool.

They went bankrupt their opening season. Out of the projected 3,000,000 attendance they got about 400,000, so the revenue was drastically lower than they needed to make payments. A new team of investors from the Myrtle Beach area pooled enough money to purchase the park though. It reopens this weekend, but as a result of cost cutting the licenses to use the name "Led Zeppelin", "Hard Rock", etc were all forfeited. All the new names are extremely generic, like this ride was renamed Time Machine.

The park has closed. Bankrupt.Nothing there but gift shops & 2 roller coasters. The amphitheater was a joke. The general admission ticket holders for concerts had to stand behind a fence and peer over the heads of the people with seats...not nearly enough. Plenty of mad people at the opening, including myself. For $238, should not have had to stand outside and look at it on a screen. I could have stayed home and watched a music video of the band.....saved my money. Morons.

I agree completely about Carowinds, it's turned into my #2 worst park since they've gone 10 years without a quality investment imo and 2009's "new" ride is yet another low quality attraction.

HRP is very expensive for what they offer, and it's not worth it for most people. If you REALLY like coasters though and don't live too far away, its worth one visit just to ride LZ:TR.

Maximum RPM was really fun though even though it was a kid ride. but they have a lot of room for more rides.

I hated the "white knight in satin" watever the fuck the ride was called. WORST RIDE EVER. mainly cause it broke while i was on it

I hope they still have some projects left. They own 145 acres with only 55 developed, so a ton of land is left for expansion. Nights in White Satin was a very STRANGE ride LOL I didn't like it either.

I agree fully, NC has some of the worst rides. I've been to Six Flags Great Adventure (8 and a half hours from me) 6 times this year, versus being to Carowinds twice (only 90 minutes). I hate that Cedar Fair is continuing Paramount's legacy of terrible expansions.

Its a great, very smooth ride, by far the best at the park! The first half (until 50 seconds in the video) was awesome, the second half lost some of the intensity, but was still fun none-the-less. I've ridden 107 different coasters and it's my #12 favorite.

It does kill a lot of the speed. Its zero-g roll is one of my favorites, and the cobra roll is imo B&Ms best, it doesn't snap like some of their others. Its station is air conditioned too, which is a big plus lol

Haven't ridden El Toro. Totally agree about Top Thrill Dragster. Addictive! Goliath and Montu are great. Also, we like Kumba, Sheikra, Raptor, Dueling Dragons (ICE), Superman Ultimate Flight, and Kraken. Our faves seem to be tall, fast, multi-element floorless or inverted coasters with big drops. So, how does this one stack up? We live in South Florida. Is it worth the treck?

All of those are awesome as well.

As for making the journey to HRP, it depends on what you like. LZ is the only outstanding ride there, but the park has a very nice look and theme to it. HRP was designed by the same firm that designed Islands of Adventure, so they look quite a bit alike (with different theming). But HRP, like IOA, doesn't have nearly as many rides as other parks do. Overall, I would say its worth it if you really like going to parks, but don't expect a ton of great rides.
