I see them like two KINGS standing in the traffic light and to depart in different directions, anyway, because I love buses they are the KINGs of da road...! I love also the sound of the sneeze of their air brakes..! is like saying "Am standing here" (I dream with them since I was a KID)
Yes, Setra sales the single deck S-417 with Detroit Diesel 60 engines here in the states. The first time I saw one was in Los Angeles near LAX. It was operated by SUN DIEGO TOURS of San Diego, and I thought it was the most beautyful bus I ever saw, until my trip to Paris. Go and in Paris saw the double deck S 431TD and I was impressed. If they bring the S 431TD to the states it would be a shame if they do not leave that 16 liter V8 in her. I am a fan of the series 60 but that big V8 is better.
The 9900 is not more actual. The 9900 was constructed by Drögmöller an was build by Drögmöller Heilbronn (Germany). In 2008 Volvo close Drögmöller and this was the end of 9900. The other bus 9700 and 7700 was built in Poland.
Setra S 431 TD are my favorite European buses. I like there looks and the fact that they are V8 powered and last but not lest, they are double deckers.
I some photos of S 431 DT that took in Paris.
If they bring here to the states I hope they keep those V8s in them, and not try to put a ISM or Series 60 in them.
Setra buses are already brought to USA but they are powered with Detroit engines as standard. I don´t know if Mercedes engines are available but guess that Setra buses in the states have Allison gearboxes.

I've seen Setra coaches here in the states. Don't know what model, but they were similar to the ones in this video.

The Volvo is actually a 9900, the bus has "theatre" floor while the 9700 does not.
