what the hell difference does that make? It was written by two Irish guys and full of Irish actors. The only reason why it ended up on Channel 4 is because RTE2 turned it down which ended up being a good thing because that gave it access to 60million people instead of 4million. Not that any of this makes a difference, it's a great comedy made with help from both sides and it doesn't matter what country it came from.

You're completely right. Never underestimate the contribution of the late great (British) producer Geoffrey Perkins, who will be recognised as one of the greatest figures of British comedy and who did so much to get Father Ted off the ground. However, without the Irish writers Linehan and Matthews, there wouldn't have been any Father Ted scripts to start with.
