  • I fucking hate stephen king. i just read salem's lot because i heard it was vampires and seriously he copys twilight so fucking much - so how the fuck can he rip on stephanie meyer who clearly is more original than him even if she isn't as good at writing nicely

  • @loneH8ER Are you joking? Salem's Lot was published in 1975, thirty years before Twilight.

  • I'm reading Duma Key right now, the book scared the h*ll out of me the other night. i almlost flew out of the bed.

  • Duma Key is one of my favorites along with From a Buick 8

  • There is a strange book you just got to read call Benjamin's Gate by Warren Reed

I lived through the Apocalypse, I seen the Antichrist, and beheld his miracles, I seen the world take his mark and thousand killed because they refuse to take it, I was there when he came out of the pit and killed the two Prophets, for they had even tried to kill us, (me and my friends) but we were able to survive. My is Benjamin and this is my story. order the book Benjamin's Gate at amazon.com

  • I think King better then Armor King

  • My favourite book!!!♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • I think Duma is not verry good

  • duma key is kings best book since IT!!!

  • The scariest book ive read that came from stephen king

  • I might be King's #1 fan

  • is someone washing dishes in the background?

  • Been reading King for 20 years and in the middle of Duma. Love how he can put me in Florida on a February stormy day. I can almost hear the shells grinding out thier sirens call.

  • whoever is reading this type in to youtube.

    stephen king is an idiot

the things they say is appaling

  • I just got through reading Duma Key for the second time.A masterpiece...

  • As much as I love King, no one can think of two twin dead girls without thinking of Kubrick. That's his mark.

  • Mr. King is blessed with Eidetic memory- It's obvious ! Just read his works!

  • Me caes mal!!!! por creerte el mejor escritor del mundo

  • I have a theory. I think this book is based off where his house in florida is. First off he said the road was overgrown with palm trees. I have lived in the same area for years and it is called Casey Key which sounds oddly familiar to duma key. Also he mentions a few businesses that are in Casey Key like Ophelias italian restaraunt and Dans fans city. I find this pretty cool since i live in this town. if you want to see his house it is on the tip of casey key. just search casey key, florida

  • CHECK OUT MY EBAY LISTINGS WITH NOVELS BY STEPHEN KING FOR JUST .07 CENTS!!!!

    EBAY SELLER NAME--- recessionready

  • I'm a new fan of Stephen King I've read Carrie, The Shining, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Misery and Geralds Game and I gotta say that he's an amazing writer and I hope his work live on for generations to come. I want to have at least a tenth of his talent

  • @devilshomie Congrats on discovering King's works. If you really want some interesting stuff to read that he's done, I'd highly recommend the Dark Tower series and another of my favorites was Desperation which was a great book. Different Seasons is another one that had some of his classic works that translated into epic films as well.

  • @devilshomie I almost forgot, if you check out Desperation, there's a sort of sister book that goes with that called The Regulators. What he did was write that book as Richard Bachman but he used the same character names and put them in different roles with the main antagonist still involved in it. I have to admit it was a little bizarre, but was an interesting look into an author who took his characters and planted them in an alternate universe.

  • @ofdiscordia Oh yeah I heard about that book so was Richard Bachman like his alter ego or something?

  • @devilshomie Yes, King started out writing under the pen name Richard Bachman. You could say it's his alter ego though, as I don't think he's ever officially stated that he was the same person, even though he is photographed in the Bachman books, he writes about Bachman as if he were a fictional character, and in a way, I guess he is :)

  • @ofdiscordia Wow that is so cool, so did his fans know that King was Richard Bachman or did he reveal it to them after he went back to Stephen King

  • @devilshomie Yes everyone knew lol. He didn't go to any lengths to hide it, he just never admitted it. In that book, 'The Regulators' that I mentioned, there is a note about Richard Bachman in the back of it saying he died, so I guess King finally decided to put the pen name to rest. However that doesn't mean that old Bachman works in his attic might not be found and published, lol.

  • im a big fan of Kings read many books but i never actually saw him alive except on couple of books .

  • how can anyone make something as messed up as pennywise the clown! what goes through this guys head!

  • @bcman222 Brilliant things far beyond any of our comprehensions

  • When Chuck Norris and Johnny Cash run into Stephen King on the sidewalk...... Chuck and Cash step to the side.

  • I own so many of his books it's ridiculous. His stories entertained me & gave me wonderful, terrifying, thoughtful distraction throughout very difficult years. Thank you Mr. King :))) I am your number one fan (very purposeful insertion of humor here folks).

  • i wish he was still getting horror movies out there

  • I am here to reclaim this page. FUCK YOU HATING ASS COCKSUCKERS

  • Read it dumbass and then compare.

  • two little dead girls holding hands...

like in that OTHER book of yours, stephen?

  • @Emidretrauqe Yeah, but the location was different and he ended up with a very different novel. One element of one story can be taken in a lot of different directions.

  • I am reading this book right now and so far I love it!:D

  • I have read Duma Key and is a wonderful story, really great. It's connected of the Dark Tower, too, in my opinion.

I advise you to read it. :o)

  • Duma Key is a great book!

  • Is he gunna rape me...

  • dennis woodruff google my name and see all of my cool moveis

DENNIS WOODRUFF I make great indie films help to get the word out

  • Hey Stephen King:):):) it's neat that you discuss your book.:):):) i like this woman that discusses "The Masseur" a new book that just came out. katieblueskiesnow This same woman reads from the book too. The book is hot! "Girl talks about the masseur"

  • Great book. Highly recommended. Probably my favorite cast of King characters. This is a story that will move you, make you smile, and scare the crap out of you, as well.

  • ive read "Pet Sematary", "Carrie" and "Salem's Lot", all extrordinary books in my opinion. i look foward to reading Stephen's new book, "Duma Key." Stephen King: you kick ass

  • God I'm 12 I finished this book yesterday. The scariest part was when that goddamn heron was flying upsuide down. Scared the shit out of me in its weirdness,

  • i enjoyed sir all movies. very nice and terrible. i ike it.

    tony frm srilanka

  • I read this book 3 times. After some time I think, I will read again.its real master peace.

  • This is probably my second favorite King book.

  • Stephen King is one of the best authors in history.

  • Stephen king is my idol and his books are my life.

  • @ispitlikeallama2 lol same here, completely. he is amazing

  • @ML112292 yes definately. I don't know what I would without him. lol

  • Wireman rocks ;)

  • Want a movie from DARK TOWER!!!

  • I usually enjoy his works, but I had a hard time focusing on that one. I think it's because of the beginning, and I like the traveling tales better, so I ranked it low, but good writing, just not my favorite of his. He's good at imagination; I can't do that in my baby writing. I get jealous. It goes 1=1. Not 1=1:1,2.

  • Long live THE KING!

  • SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dnt read this if u want 2 read the book eventually!!!!!!!!!

i just finished reading the book but ill admit that it went downhill after ilse was murdered. not bc she wz murdered, i knew she wud b, but the fact that i wz looking 4 much bigger explanations, deeper explanations 2 evrything than the 1z that were given. overall, its a good summer read i think, but the ending is disappointing.

  • im in the middle of this one its realy good so far!!!

  • WANT A BIG BUDGET MOVIE FOR DUMA KEY> would be amazing

  • @zakfried Oh YES; I would LOVE to see that, I had so many pictures in my mind while I was reading the book if only they have enough sense to stick to the story as it is written it could be fantastic, great images. I LOVED Wireman.

  • Reading It Right Now!!!!!!!

  • i loved this book! does anyone know any books similar to it? set on an island or a coast?

  • @VinnyFairplay you could read a book called the island, it isnt by stephen king but by richard laymon

  • @VinnyFairplay IT's not scary but theres this one called "Kensukes Kingdom". It's about a boy gets stranded on an island with a chinese man and he can't communicate with him.

  • King's getting old, the day he dies will be a sad day indeed. My world wouldnt be the same without reading his books.. the man is a true genius.

  • He is a absolute genius.

  • Duma Key is a terrific book, i was impressed

  • apart from the anti-climax this book was a masterpiece. I know it's mostly taste but people saying this is a BAD book 100% surely didn't get much of the layers and depth. The story/plot is only a frame for some very insightfull and deep forays into the human psyche - hope, fears, holding on and letting go, etc.

  • He is my favorite writer!

  • He is a genius. I have been reading his books since I was little, and no one can suck you into a book, make you believe the in the characters like he can. He made me want to write. Him and Robert Jordan made the characters come alive, to the point where your mind told you that they were no longer fiction.

  • I really loved the book. I have just started reading Stephen King more constantly and now I´ve read Under the dome, Blaze, Langoliers, Heart of Atlantis, some of his short stories and of course Duma Key. Duma Key was the most fascinating in my opinion. It wasn´t actually that much of a horror novel but it was a great story, well written and very, very beautiful characters. It felt like there was always a short border between paradise and nightmare if you know what I mean.

  • Aw man I loved Duma Key. It's my fave Stephen King book. And Wireman's great =D

  • good read

  • Duma Key is awesome, and so is Stephen King :)

  • Stephen King is the shit, but this book, for the most part...is just, extremely okay. (Again, he could write about the most mundane things and it would be so stylish. That's his strength, I think, is his style.)

The Running Man was his best work, I think.

  • Hell yeah. The Running Man was awesome.

  • i actuly didnt like the book.

  • I didn't like the book either.

  • @degree7

the only good part was Wireman's suicide story

  • I actually think the book had quite a few good parts, especially the beginning chapters as well as the bits where his dispossessed hand starts painting those pictures.

But the climax was so unbearably lame and short.

  • @degree7

alright we r all entitled 2 our own opinion. but i agree the ending sucked

  • I loved the book. Near the end it's like a punch in the face, you just can't stop reading it.

  • I loved the character Jerome Wireman. One of my favorite King characers. Duma Key was a fantastic Novel. Under the Dome too.

  • I wish i was as talented as him in literature. I tried a couple stories once. nothing like his

  • What is people's problem with his imagination? Did it ever occur to you that the dead girls are a part of him? That means that they are going to make appearances like other things that make multiple appearances in King's stories.

-Randall Flagg is another character that pops up in a few stories.

Don't like it? Feel free to write your own story.

  • the dark tower series rules!!!!!!!

  • What kind of mind goes on vacation and sees dead girls where others see scenery? Very disturbing. But some people pride themselves on the very point of the shame.

  • @Daamon77 A great writer doesn't need to be ashamed of their imagination. In fact no one needs to be ashamed of their imagination. You should be ashamed of suggesting you know what people should think about.

  • @lollipopfop - The two dead girls thing is over used. The Shining, The Green Mile, Duma Key. Don't get me wrong, he's written some good stuff !

  • lol, that was poetic

  • Ridiculous comment.......... nothing more to say

  • @Daamon77 peoples imagination is the only free and untainted source we have left. there is no shame in creating things with it.

  • Pfft. The Bible's boring; atleast Mr King makes an interesting read thar's relevant to modern society. What you're saying is that people should ignore their imaginations and individuality and follow a 2,000 year old doctrine. Riduculous!

  • I'm a writer of short stories but I think it would be the utmost dream to work with Stephen or to see him turn one of my horror stories into a movie,he is admired that much!

  • My favorite King books are It, Salem's Lot, and Pet Semetary.

  • @emanmark Two dead girls standing by the road reminds you of Baywatch somehow? Thats a stretch.

  • How here is a true writer folks. Hail to the King.

  • very nice actor my film prefered is ca

  • Wow, I'm quite surprised that I've never read this yet. I'm a huge fan of Stephen King -- always have been, always will! Guess it would be a wise decision on my part to stop by my local library to check it out sometime.

I'm actually so drawn in by the description that I cannot forbear myself from hitting the shelves!

  • i'm readin the dome it's fantastic

  • I've started to read this novell and i really like it

  • I have a question... I´ve seen Duma Key in book stores all over the city... is it a novel or a bunch of stories?

  • Um, it's just one novel. It's a pretty good one. Get it.

  • If this waz made into a Movie I would definatley cast Antonio Banderas as Wireman. The setting in my mind was the same as the story "The Gingerbread Girl" Same beach, same Atmosphere, was that Wiremans' friend on the beach @ the end of the Story. Oh BTW Edgar Freemantles' daughter reminded me of the perky Kari Byron (MythBusters) Oh wut an Imagination !! xxx

  • Banderas seems cool as Wireman. But what about Edgar? Who would u cast?

  • Maybe Kevin Spacey, what do you think?

  • I just started reading this book about 3 days ago. I'm about 200 pages in and absolutely enjoying it. May end up becoming my second favorite Stephen King novel. (behind Bag of Bones).

  • I agree! I read this book a while back, and it is my second favorite King novel after Bag of Bones. In fact, Duma Key reminded me of Bag of Bones here and there.

  • Yeah, I'm about halfway through and I'm already noticing a lot of similarities. It's a very good book (albeit a bit confusing at times). I'm trying to finish it before UNDER THE DOME's release.

  • lol "the dark half " is the absolute best :)

  • GRANDE MAESTRO

  • Your son was so nice. Getting lost in a book is a great way to fight through sickness.

  • LIttle over half through with Duma Key, for some reason with the "Wireman" character I keep imagining the actor Bryan Brown, Tom Cruise's buddy in Cocktail. Decent book, imma Dark Tower head though.

  • reading this right now... half way through. pretty good book.

  • I've only read two books by Stephen King,Misery and Carrie... I am gonna read some other books he's amazing !!

  • i liked this book too, took me a while to get into it but worth it in the end, cant wait for Under the Dome though i hope its as good as i know King is capable of making!

  • I enjoyed this book. Wireman is cool.

  • The hansome divil

  • I read Duma Key and I thought it was pretty good. I think all of Stephen King's books are amazing. But Misery is still my favorite book.

  • He seemed proud of it. Most of the interviews I've seen he didnt smile.

  • this was a good book. i think all of the book i have read by him are good.

he has a really weird mind though and it is a little disturbing, for instance who looks at a road at dusk and just imagine two little dead girls standing there holding hands.

and then says they are his girls

  • i think everyone has random images of scary shit even if its first commenced by viewing a scary movie. either way everyone imagines scary shit. he called them his girls i guess for a writing purpose but it culd also be a defense mechanism from being scared by it. also think of the writing gap wede have if stephen king never began writing

  • yeah i guess thats about right

  • really good book

  • wonder if it'll be turned to a movie?

  • Two little dead girls? Sounds like "The Shining"

  • he talks just like he writes. I love that

  • I loved reading Duma key. I lived in Bradenton for 20+ years and it was like a strange scary visit home....

  • i can imagine an image of a cat with a combat knife in it mouth, thats just killed a dog.

i should write a book too.

  • I'd read it.

  • he doesnt look as creepy as his books..lol...quiet normal looking if u ask me...

  • I've just finished to read the book. It's great! I love the sore ending, it's hard to tell if it's good or bad.

  • im reading that now its good, but what the hell is with him and two little dead girls bettween this the green mile and the shining. Its starting to get a bit morbid. we might have a serial killer on our hands here.

  • King - GENIUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ENOUGH SAID

  • must be a fun person to hang out :D

  • A man with a bloodshot eye and less one arm. Love the plot for this.

  • Two little dead girls. Sounds like The Green Mile.

  • i thought of the shining, with the ghosts of the girls in the hotel. its spookier lol

  • If he imagines dead girls in a beach. i wonder what would he imagine in a cave?

  • A unicorn missing a kidney.

  • *stand on the road, twin dead girls* I am so sorry this man has not meet me yet

  • calm down you madman. its just a book. in my opinion a "good" book. but i think there are more pressing issues to go ape shit over.

  • Indeed.

  • great mind

  • Stephen*

  • Stephin King...You have a SICK mind!

  • His wife Tabitha is an author herself and many people who read her stories say she is far better than him.

  • Ok I believe that :) I promise to read something by her :)

  • FILF

  • The Shining was my favourite, and I liked the Kubrick version which provoked controversy with purists. Stephen King is the best writer of the last fifty years easily.

  • Comment removed

  • That is exactly what I mean. He is not there for more than a few seconds.

  • lol. I felt the same way about Wizard and Glass and The Stand. I thought they were his best books until I read Duma Key. Also, if you haven't read The Talisman & Black House, do it. They're incredibly imaginative.

  • theres no question if this guys going to hell (yes) and if you dont belive in hell, it will be made just for him......

  • uhhh, why is he going to hell, then?

  • it was a joke ....a bad one ...but a joke ..lol

  • Ah, sorry. You never know, weirder things have been said on youtube comments :p Didn't mean to misconstrue what you said (is that even a word? If not, dibs).

He has had some pretty freaky ideas though, they certainly scare me, lol

  • Comment removed

  • Are you serious? Its hard to tell jokes and sarcasm over the internet. Anyway, why would he? His books are horrific, but in the most...religious one (The Stand) the good guys win. He's not going to go to hell. Roland Deschain would just turn up and break him out, anyway :p

  • i get the sarcasm remark.. i was making a joke but it is hard to tell some times...lol

but i do think his ideas are scary, i mean how does he sleep at night most of them scare the shit out of me.....
