Must have been morning of St Patricks day 65 because of all the U.S flags out. Nice video anyway, thanks for posting, wouldn't mind seeing alot more of them on utube but I suppose not many people had cameras that time. Would have been very expensive and money wasn't plentiful in those years.
@damian1202001Cool. It would be great if their was more of these videos of old Galway but as I said in an earlier post, home video cameras were not the norm.
Why are there American flags when a cathedral was opening? Weere they left over from when JFK was here?
The car seems to be moving slow by modern standards. Maybe there was a speed limit of 10mph.

@imshaneh The Cathedral was opened by Cardinal Cashing of Boston, so it was probably in his honour.

Obviously computer generated; there was a car correctly using the indicator - couldn't be Galway!

@boscoesarmy
This was filmed to coincide with the 'grand' opening of the Galway cathedral in 1965.
Hence all the flags, American, Irish and Vatican.

Great video, like going back in time, pity about the music though, does not really do it justice. Something more tradition would have suited better.
