I guess this works for people who don't get Bird, Stitt, or Dexter. I saw Coltrane do the same (with Pharoah or Archie as the 2nd horn), but there was more rhythmic intricacy (and this was after Elvin).
I have to agree with you . I don't really feel this. I like the modern stuff, though honestly I don't think it is at the level of Dexter Gordon's playing. I enjoy the music of Hamid and William Parker but this seems like they are just standing still. I guess that happens some nights.
can't tell me these guys aren't having fun, all technicality aside, which you've heard these guys pull off many a time.
