Cool. I'm always strapped for time for my school projects, so trailers are a fun way to get the point across and focus on as many money shots as possible :)
For me, the behind-the-scenes piece was more entertaining than the actual trailer. Something about this one just felt half-done to me. The concept is fun, and the cinematography and effects were well-done, but it didn't feel like it went anywhere.
Movie trailers are designed to create the desire to see the film that they promote. The best fake trailers I've seen still created a feeling of, "If that were a real film, I'd want to see it." I didn't get that here. I saw a lot of well-presented individual moments, but it didn't feel connected enough to imply where the faux story was going. No story = no emotional draw = no audience.
I get where you're coming from, and I totally agree. But I think that here, it seemed effective the way he did it. But that's just my opinion, and I'm totally not trying to argue against yours
Well I'm glad I sparked some debate! I think you both have good points. I agree that a good trailer should draw you in and make you want to see the full story for sure. But part of the joke of this one (maybe I failed at this) was that the story of the fake movie is SO stupid, how could it possibly be a full movie, and so once you've seen the trailer, what else is there? But it certainly isn't supposed to go anywhere. Just be fun and silly and hint at an absolutely plot-less Hollywood movie. :)
That's exactly what I got out of it, so you succeeded as far as I'm concerned. That's what I like about this, actually. You took a completely ridiculous concept for a movie and made a completely badass trailer for it. Which I think is awesome. So, good job.
Hey I have always loved your videos. I am the manager of a school media program and I always use your videos for what we should be filming and editing like. unfourtunantly that is a far away goal that I don''t think we will ever reach. Keep up the great work.
I wish I had that Canon, but this is my Sony HVR-V1U (which I do love!) Some post production and color enhancement help get the movie look too. Oh and I shot 24p.
Well, great work then! I've just got a Panasonic DVX100 right now, but I need to step into the HD world one of these days. Regardless, it's the talent that makes the difference, not the camera... that's why your videos always rock.
That's the trailer of my life, man. In Corning, we call them "Ticket Nazis". The worst part is that there are no meters, so we can't add more coins. It's two hours per zone, and only those two hours. Very frustrating if you work on that street. Anyway, good work. :-)
awesome video but what is that metal song you played
that song was badassness sprinkles on a cake fuckin amazingness

I also love the use of stockholm syndrome in this, excellent music for it. Liking this idea for an action movie too!!! :-D

Wow, that rocks. Did you shoot this on a Canon 5D mkII or something? It has a great blockbuster-esque look.

It's amazing you can take something boring like parking meters and hipe it up and make something exciting out of it.

I thought using Muse's "Stockholm Syndrome" for the music was a brilliant move.
Everytime I hear the song I have thought that it is the kind of music you would hear
in an action movie. The meter clicking down to zero was also great.

Is this M. Night Shyamalan? If so, the man is a meter and the woman is an alien dressed as a monster, and it is really the 1800s.
