In case nobody knew or already said, this game was originally supposed to be Terminator but somehow Sunsoft lost the rights, but still had the finished game. So they simply changed the story, sprites and the intro music. Now that I've seen the Terminator Nes game I can honestly say that all of us Terminator fans got screwed over. This is an awesome game with an awesome soundtrack. Terminator they failed you!!
@RyuHayabusa06 You couldn't be more spot on. Take the music from where your username is derived from. Ninja Gaiden had a near flawless soundtrack, especially it's sequel. You don't find that sort of involvement in a VGM composition nowadays.
@SlothfulCynic Yeah, Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 had very memorable soundtracks. I actually taped some of the music on a cassette when I was little so I could listen to it anywhere, lol. This old VG music was all about the melody. Now it's all about sounding orchestral or hip hop shit.
I bought this game at a used game store near where I live :D as soon as I get my new system in the mail I'll be playing it and my other games probably all day XD
@hylianarmy0 Actually they did use the triangle wave here; they used it for percussion effects. Many of Sunsoft's later titles used the Triangle wave for percussion and the PCM channel for bass, which was opposite of what many other developers were doing (Triangle for bass; PCM for percussion)
Damn this was such a kickass game! It was fun, challenging, and had some of the best NES music I've ever heard. I think I'll play through it again when my friend is done borrowing my system.
Lyrics: Now I am off I'm on my way I will avenge my father Yes, I am off, and on my way off to avenge my father If they think they're gonna get away with the horrific things they've done, they aren't. I'll be making sure that they all pay, i don't care what they think their power can warrant, If they think, that they can do the things that they have done with impunity, They've all got... another thing comin' And that thing's comin' from me!
(lyrics continued) Oh yes, I'll kill them all, make them fall, I'll make each one of them pay not next year, not next week, not tomorrow but today, be prepared! are you scared? Well you should be! like I said, I won't take a single break until all of you are dead!
Just tried singing along with the lyrics and I believe I sang them exactly how to meant to write and time them. Nicely done, lol. We should make a mix. ;)
This game was originally supposed to be a Terminator (movie tie in) game, but they couldn't get the license. Too bad, I bet it would have got a lot more notice if they managed it.
Just been thinking about that. But what confuses me is why Silius? The Japanese version is known is Raf World, so why kind of translation error could there have been? If Sirius was chosen by the localization team, then maybe it was major typo, lol.
@yamihoon Japanese name is actually called Raf World which has nothing to do with Silius, so I guess Journey to Silius was made up by English speaking people.

I love how melodic this old stuff is. It seems the music of these new games are lacking in this department.

@RyuHayabusa06 i agree

@RyuHayabusa06 yeah, the music of the sunsoft games had many interweaving parts. Fester's quest is a particular game that demonstrates this.

Fuck yeah sunsoft! =D

This is perhaps the pinnacle of 8-bit music manipulation. OCremix did some great justice to that theme as well.

Lyrics: It's a Journey to Silius, it's is tough to beat, you can't pass And even though it's hard to beat, the music here it kicks ass .....

@jabulon88 explains all the robots lol. great game overall.

For 8-bit, this song sure encapsulates the 80's pretty damn well.
Might be why it's called 8-bit. More like 80-bit, amirite? Ok, sorry, that was terrible...

Lol, one would imagine.

isn't it funny that from all of those shitty games the game with the best gameplay and soundtrack never actually got the licence for the terminator?
this game gave me a lot more than i bargained for, and this tune not for the least
astagohai 2 years ago 2
Not to mention it probably would have been infinitely better if they got the license. Hoo-wee that game was a stinker.

Pretty cool.
I wonder how they came up with the name 'Silius'. Were they being 'Sirius?' X-3
shenloken 2 years ago 2
they might have meant sirus, since that's a constellation, but it was called "raf" world in japan and europe i think.
RaustBD 2 years ago
I think you most likely meant "Sirius", but it's not a constellation, it's a star that is part of Canis Major.

That makes sense, probably a translation error. The Japanese language doesn't deal too well with L's and R's.
