  • I thought it was a typical T-38 IP acting like a cockbag.

  • Everyone knows this was a joke right? On the guys last ride.

  • You all are incorrect. Engrish is spoken by ATC in Asia.

  • Wow buddy, Im really not trying to be an asshole but thats simply the truth. ICAO stands for International Civil Aviation Organization and YES ask ANY non-US pilot and they will tell you that they have taken english courses and had to pass a radio operators permit license test to be eligible for any pilot certificate. Im not "going off" with my thoughts. Its merely the truth, if you can't handle it then don't fly. I wouldn't be upset if I had to learn German to fly. Its just the way it is. Sorry

  • @iFlyFPV I just saw another reply about language and was about to post about ICAO and saw yours. Beat me to it

  • the cold is off :))

  • uhh.... somebody got a U for the day

  • What's he say at 1:06?

  • What?

  • Well don't forget that hyperthermia got an effect on human mood, and enduring such conditions make a subject being aggressive, and that is exactly what happened with the IP. You can even notice at the end of the video when the stud finally turn the ACS to cold that IP progressively is calming down. Of course yelling loudly at a student, particularly a foreign isn't best solution to teach something to someone. But given the conditions and temperature that cabin can reach you can understand that

  • @Twix101 No disrespect but English is the aviation language of the world. Its stated clearly by the ICAO so my true reaction to this movie other than laughing my ass off is that this pilot should not be anywhere near the cockpit until he/she can read, write, and understand the english language. That's the International law lol and thats why all ATC facilities anywhere in the world speak understandable English. I think the IP did the absolute right thing under the circumstances.

  • @Twix101 Hey sorry Twix, I meant to direct that response to FixFalcon. I had to train with Indian and Chinese pilots here in Arizona and the language barrier was so bad that it caused safety problems. I know you understand what Im saying and I just think these pilots should be forced to learn the language or stay in an airspace where communication is not required. Golf airspace in particular.

  • @FixFalcon - Get a flight instructor certificate, get some years of experience as an flight instructor, and then talk about teaching someone in "life-threatening emergencies. Don't cover up bad flight instructors that are unprofessional and who don't know how to teach, they are everywhere, and the Air Force, obviously is not exempt. If you think yelling at someone is the way to teach, you need to go back and read up on the "Fundamentals of Instructions".

  • i want you to turn the fucking heat off !

  • Wow, shows the unprofessionalism on behalf of the Air Force IP. Yelling and cussing at a student in a high stress situation is not how you train someone.

  • @DGajre777 That is exactly how you train someone who could potentially be in a life-threatening situation. You think war is all about rainbows and butterflies? It's all about performing under extreme circumstances, something I'm sure you know nothing about, fruitcake.

  • @DGajre777 No disrespect but English is the aviation language of the world.

  • @iFlyFPV bro in egypt they fly in arabic .. in germany they fly in german .. in France they fly with french .. in china .. russia .. north korea ..ect

it's just some countries trying to be nice and make it with english .. so dont go far away with your stupid thoughts bro !!

  • @MeshariMA90 English is definitely the international language of aviation. Every ATC speaks english and that's what they use in other countries. Korean pilots talking to korean atc speak in english.

  • @cadinst hahaha duude you are totally wrooong

  • @cadinst what about germany and france and russia and iran and syria !!

some does and some not .. so just because some countries agrees .. it doesnt mean its " the language of aviation !!! "" loool

  • @MeshariMA90 You are wrong.

  • Apparently it was 135 degrees and the guy was about to punch out.

  • Hop's over! Take me home :

  • Hop's over! Take me phone!

  • Priceless....

  • Turn the heat off!!

    What?

  • EPIC VIDEO

  • Great video!!! Zero - pissed in about 10 seconds!!!!

  • YOU ALL NEED TO CHILL! THIS IS FUN!!!! FUCKIN RELAX!!!!

  • this guys just mad cuz he sounds like a twelve year old

  • Wonder if the exchange flyer was a A.S.D.F jock.

Anyone got a better info on this?

  • TURN THE HEAT OFF!! (pause) on?..NO OFF!! O-F-F! hahahaha

  • Haha, I train Chinese kids and this is every day in the cockpit for me.........

  • @mojoespoon I feel ya bro. :)

  • Way to go with the international relations jackass.

  • what?

  • "Turn the heat OFF!!!!" (pause)..."on?"

  • absolutely brilliant.... yes.. definitely the best and yes LMFAO too love it .....F@^## O...F...F

  • O..F...F!!!!!

    hhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

    LMFAO!!

  • Haha, this video is awesome. I can only imagine what the SP (or the IP for that matter!) is thinking.

  • Note at 2:05 that noisy background sound quitens down when the guy actually realised what he was on about, that must have been the sound of the heat in the background.

  • What? Got to love the Saudis!

  • For you people who have never flown in a T-38 then you have no clue what you are talking about. I am a T-38 IP and the temp control is only in the front seat. Not only does it get extremely HOT it is also very LOUD! That is why the IP is having to yell. Pilots have had to jettison canopies before because the control was stuck in full hot. Plus add the language barrier and flying over 400mph you can see a dangerous situation developing.

  • jetison canopy... as in eject?... and lose aircraft over stuck heat control?

  • You can jettison 1 or both canopies without ejecting and still fly the aircraft.

  • thanx. don't know from fighters. just bombers.

  • Bad instructor! Loosing his cool (in both ways) is not likely to get the desired result out of a student. It must have been hot in there, but I hope he apologized to the student at the debrief.

  • (And I mean 'bad instructor' in a slapped wrist and exclamation mark kinda way, not a write-off useless kind of way).

  • oh holy HIGH-larious

  • o f f !! Win

  • :)))))

  • ...anyone care to explain what's going on?

  • the instructor was sitting at the back of the t38 n the jap trainee pilot was infront n the temp switch is infront on the trainee seat. the trainee forget to switch the heater off n the pilot behind is baking.

  • That instructor should be sacked, what a complete loser...

  • i can barely see what i'm typing through the tears i'm laughing so hard

  • lmao

  • they were screwing with the IP. He's a douche and all he ever did was yell.

  • What does he mean by Heat? is that Afterburner

  • heat just like you have heat in your car, it was on and he was hot

  • Orite hahaha thats quality

  • This gets funny and more funny every time I watch it:)

  • no no no, YOU"RE THE MOST POMPUS IDIOT ALL OVER YOUTUBE. and if the IP knew japanese then maybe it wouldn't have been bad. and it does not say "LEARN ENGLISH AND PRAY" clearly not a better one.

  • thankyou. I AM RIGHT YOU ARE WRONG. thanks for admitting it dumbass=)

  • what tha fuck? that was the dumbest shit i ever read! makes no sense! its no wonder because you're the dumbass yourself! haha look at you, trying to reverse what you last said! you're going extreme through your fucking lame ass comeback! as you said, I AM RIGHT!!!!! dont try to reverse your sentences dumbass lol. i do know sarcasm because you obviously understood it. and no im not stupid, YOU ARE BAKA TARE DUMBSHIT=) well, it looks like you should hit those english books now and study!

  • Wow, you really made a great impression being racist. You're an idiot.

  • STFU. Nobody cares anymore.

  • the IP should've said SAMUI which means cold in japanese.......but this is fucking hilarious

  • well the japanese guy didn't understand so he shouldve said SAMUI, makes it easier for the japanese guy

  • No offense man, but the OFFICIAL language of aviation is ENGLISH. Not to mention he was flying in a UNITED STATES AIR FORCE Aircraft. The onus is on the visiting pilot to speak the language. Why should the IP have to speak Japanese? Much less an obscure word like "cold"?

  • I do not feel bad for this student at all. He couldn't understand basic English commands. He doesn't belong up there. If I were the IP, I'd be pissed too because it could be life threatening.

  • Agreed, if the student doesnt know the difference between hot and cold you have to wonder what other basic commands that ATC could give him that he wouldnt understand like climb, descend, slow to, etc.

  • I feel bad...

  • Why do I have this urge to visit my local 7/11 ?

  • whoo hoo hoo ha! TURN THE FUCKING HEAT OFF ROFL

  • HAHA!

  • Apparently the heater in the Talon is a thing of wonder, the cockpit can rapidly reach 150 degrees F. This could lead to all kinds of issues. The checklist calls for a hole to be punched in the canopy if the heat can't be turned off. The next step is to actually jettisomn the canopy, So O-F-F is a big deal!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....breath.....HAHAHAHAHA....

  • fucking hilarious...

  • lol

  • What? Turn the hest off!! O.F.F. !! ;D Dude..... any commentary is usless hahahaha

  • Reminds me of RAF WSO training!

  • sooo hilarious! but i feel bad for the no speeka engaleesh guy ... it kinda sounds like it wasnt even his fault ^^

  • No speeka engaleesh

  • what? ......haha soo coool

  • easy, redpony. off your feed? your filly run off with a rodeo clown?

  • FRUSTRATING!

  • the IP is a hick

  • He should be Japanese SUPT guy、 right?

  • Having said that, it must have been really tense for the instructor not to be understood, giving a vital command!! Maybe they should get the student over an intercom on the ground and run him through different commands, make sure he understands them, because that was well dangerous! We say off: oooooffffff; this guy seem to say it as: auuuuf, and the on is more auuuun. Its all about getting used to other pronunciations.

  • it is hard to work out what that bloke is saying!! Maybe, its because i am english and not american, but it does honestly sound like he's saying "on!". For a bit there, I was confused too! Also, its when people start shouting like that people f**k up! The guy probably hears "on!" too. The instructor need to cool his jets if he wants his student to do as he asked!!! Now if the student said "Your wrong, im doing it my way", then he would be justifed in shouting!

  • The instructor spelled O-F-F a bunch of times. What more should it have taken?

  • true, technically it should have be obvious, but once you start shouting at someone and they get flustered, they arent thinking as good as they would have been - they get more confused. he could have thought he was saying that is was off and needed to be turned on, even though it might not make sense. Maybe they should make sure pilot and instructor can understand each other over intercom before first flight?

  • I appreciate your point of view, but 3 points, having been there. 1) Before strapping into the T-38, a student spends SIX MONTHS in the basic trainer. To be passed to the T-38, you need to be able to communicate. 2) Before and after every flight the student and instructor have a pre-brief and post-brief. 3) Having the heat up all the way can make the instructor pass out. Whereupon the student and instructor COULD DIE. This isn't about being yelled at, it's about life and death.

  • I'm sure it is a case of life and death. It must have been really stressful for the instructor not to be understood. Im sure training is stringent! What I meant was that a problem arose between the student (who doesnt speak English as first language) and the instructor, who despite having a rather strong accent, would be understood by most people, especially when he spelt o.f.f.

  • Sometimes a foreign person can understand only formal accents, and thats why I said they could have done a pre-flight check to see if he understands that instructor. I meant, when a person gets heated, attempts at formal speech really break down. Not meaning to poke my nose in, but it touched a nerve with my own experiences over intercoms - lol.

  • Yes, and I said that before every flight there is a pre-flight brief. The student and the instructor sit at a desk in the squadron room and review what is going to be done during the upcoming flight. That's number one.

  • Number two. At the beginning of T-38 training, a student is required to study for, and pass, an exercise in which he not only demonstrates command of all the switches and knobs on the control panel, but CAN WORK THEM ON COMMAND WITH HIS EYES CLOSED. (In case something like a bird strike comes thru the front windscreen and blinds but not incapacitates the student.) THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR A STUDENT NOT TO KNOW HOW TO WORK THE CONTROLS OR WHAT THE I.P. IS ASKING HIM TO DO.

  • Number three. You don't find it a bit curious that you, who have never been a T-38 IP, are arguing WITH a former T-38 IP, about what happened in this video and whether or not the student knew what they hell they were doing? To the point where it was possibly endangering the aircraft, the student's life, the IP's life, and people on the ground? I think I can evaluate what was going on on the video just wee bit more than you can. And that's the last word.

  • Not disregarding what you say. ANd your right; I have zero exp with the T38 and you have loads. Im not arguing with you at all, sorry if it came across that way! I thought you misunderstood me, so i put it another way. OK, With all that behind him, I'm at a total lose as to why the student is so bad at understanding his instructor speaking plain english to him. He keeps saying "what?" again and again and again. Even when its explained to him, he still doesnt understand what the problem is?

  • Wow, I find it a bit insulting that you use the constant name dropping of being an IP to prove a point that your the only one thats right. Not to mention the fact that just because you indicate that your a T-38 IP doesn't mean that you really are. I'm a Navy F-18 pilot turned NASA Shuttle pilot who has 4 space flights under his belt. Do you believe me? Then again, who are you to discredit what I'm saying. Catch my drift? And thats the last word.

  • Hey StillRockin, stop taking yourself so seriously you dope. It's a funny video, leave it at that. Ooooo "I was an IP". Big deal you idiot. By the way, at the end of "number three" you said "and that's the last word", yet you kept posting points! Shut up already! We all know that NCO's run the show in the military. So go back to brown-nosing of the Wing King and telling your (LMAO) "IP stories". By the way, not many women get wet for "trainers". LOL!!

  • Don't even try the officer/NCO class warfare thing with me - my dad retired as an Air Force Master Sergeant. I know better than anybody else that it's the airmen and NCOs that make the military work, I grew up watching my dad do it every day until he retired when I was in high school. Sounds to me like you just have a chip on your shoulder.

  • And no I didn't keep posting points, you're not looking at the posts properly. Except for these two responses which I shouldn't have bothered doing.

And best regards to geoffart - I can see how there can be all kinds of different responses and ways of looking at this video.

  • And having wasted time on those other two posts, the one thing I do know is that life is too short to waste time on flame wars on YouTube. Have a nice life, redpony.

  • GO COLD!!! JESUS CHRIST!!!

    fuck it just eject man.

  • O! F! F! OFF!!! lmao...i nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

  • I admit it's funny to listen to but highly unprofessional. I think anyone running a CRM course would use this as an example of how NOT to react in the cockpit.

  • WTF.... this is fun!!!

  • It's not his fault.

Heater switch was actually OFF position.

    Heater itself was broken.

    That's why student confused....

  • 1:45, "TURN THE FUCKING HEAT OFF....on?" LMAO

  • ya, im commenting on my own video... all you fags out there on the IPs side, dont be gay.... this is funny shit... im pretty sure he was doing this on purpose and the IP fell into the trap, HILARIOUS.. dont be gay...

  • LOL.

    ohhh my God.....

  • Ok guys seriously I totaly side with the IP (instructor Pilot) on this one. if the student didnt know enough to turn the fucking heat off at that point in his training then he needs an ass chewing. its not exactly the best example of CRM but fuck it have you ever flown in an aircraft that fucking high in flight gear. Its fucking hot!

  • Shouting never helps, poor guy. Sounds like miscommunication and the heat was off.

  • shouting doesnt really help but its funny for us lol

  • Oh Ef Ef !

  • Managed to keep a somewhat-straight face until the end. "So what was wrong?" XD

  • wat

  • hahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhaahahahahahhahahahhahaha this has got to be a joke!

  • funny shit.... must have felt like an oven in there

  • so there is no heat control switcher in the rear cabin of a T 38 ?

  • No, the environmental controls are only in the front. After takeoff, we turn the system to full hot blowing out any moisture preventing canopy fog in the descent. Sometimes the system fails in auto and you have to flip a switch to turn it to manual. Rarely the system can get suck full hot (it is just a DC diverter valve controlling the mixture of bleed air vs outside air). It can be an emergency if not fixed. Supposedly it was getting so hot, the IP was considering jettisoning the canopy.

  • Thanks, I got it now.

  • EN, how long have you been at Sheppard? Ill be at the Academy next year vying for a UPT slot and would love the opportunity to go to ENJJPT. Im sure the obvious language barriers present a problem when dealing with foreign studs and IPs, but is there anything else that would cause a student wish he was at another UPT base? Other than Witchita Falls being the armpit of America haha, thanks in advance for your help Sir.

    Tocs

  • Stang, I've been at Sheppard for a year... graduate in a few weeks. The language barrier really isn't a big deal, everyone here speaks english. The ONLY reason you wouldn't want to come here is if you weren't 100% sure you want to fly fighters...since there is no other track option. Also, Wichita Falls is not as bad as the other pilot training bases (with the exception of Whiting Field). Good luck at the AFA. Feel free to PM with with any other questions.

  • He understands "Check the cabin pressure" at the end, but doesn't understand "turn the heat off"? One would think this would be a funny joke to pull on your IP...

  • Oh... my.... god....

  • TURN THE HEAT OFF!

    ON?

    NO!!! O-F-F!!

  • Marines don't cry about Heat. We like it. AirForce, gotta love'em.

  • OverniteSuccess,

This isn't an issue of it being a little warm in the cockpit. We are talking about 500 degree bleed air and the possibility of over pressurizing the cabin...a situation where they may need to jettison the canopy. The Air Force needs a certain level of competence in their personnel, especially pilots; this is why we only take the best, unlike other some other services.

  • Americaowns, I know most Marines are not as uninformed as you are but when you say stupid shit like that you discredit your entire service with your ignorance.

  • No worries, I'm not in the Marines.

  • Actually yea in some circumstances the Japanese will go to pilot training with the Marines. My cousin is in Pensacola right now and is learning to fly with and from all sorts of people from different parts of the world.

  • Actually, The Navy has the best, most well rounded pilots in the US. And speaking from personal experience, it's a lot more difficult to get into the Navy's fighter program than it is the Airforce's. Not to mention the age cut off in the Navy is a lot younger. I'd like to see an Air Force pilot try and land an F-18 on a pitching deck of a battle cruiser.

  • Comment removed

  • There is no best.....both the Air Force and Navy are excellent pilots. Just because Navy pilots land on carriers don't mean they're better. Please remember that.

  • I disagree with you that it's easier to get into the AF fighter program, but I think we can both agree that it's not easy getting into either!

  • Comment removed

  • The first half(T-6) of AF/Navy training is nearly identical (few differences). Follow on track training 38's, IFF - I imagine that is probably different, but I haven't been through BOTH (and I doubt anyone has).

What, did you develop and then execute some kind of cross-service checkride profile to objectively evaluate and quantify the skills of AF vs Navy Pilots?

No? Are you completely making shit up and insulting thousands of dedicated men and women in the process? Yes.

  • @blindbubba Dont get your panties in a rumble son, this is a matter of opinion, and I take your credibility just as seriously as every other Tom Dick and Harry on this forum, which isn't saying much. So, with that being said, how do you "know" that the Navy/AF flight curriculum is almost identical? I'm just suppose to take your word for it? And I'm not "insulting" any other service members, you're taking my statement out of context.

  • Well here is some advice which will help you out. "Do some fucking research". Look for USAF/USN T-6 Syllabus. I don't have to lay all that out here though.

You have to understand that it is very clear that you have little to no experience in military flying and "don't know what the fuck you are talking about". Comparing the skill of USAF/USN isn't a subjective debate. You REALLY feel qualified to have a credible opinion? You have done REAL research?

  • @nick42701 In addition - your main defense is that no one online really has any credibility to other people. Good point. But now look at yourself. Flying jets is one of the most demanding/complex tasks a man can undertake. UPT takes a year, follow on FTU takes more time after that. And you CLEARLY have been through neither. You lack BASIC knowledge of EITHER training program. And YOU know that. Why defend yourself if you fucking KNOW that you don't know shit about the topic? What the fuck?

  • @nick42701 i don't know if the nickiandjason is really an instructor pilot but i was a t-38 undergraduate just a few months ago and what he was saying is true: there is only a temperature control knob in the front seat, and it can get hot as hell inside if it gets stuck in close! The thing is there is no OFF on the control knob, just cold or hot, but indeed it gets really hot and really loud!!And also there were guys who jettison their canopies(i was told)rather than land with it in full hot!

  • @nick42701 Actually - never mind an Air Force pilot, I would like to see a Navy pilot try and land an F-18 on the deck of a battle cruiser too... Ill have to check my old NATOPS manual - but back in my day we only landed fixed wing aircraft on carriers.... Since when does the USN have "battlecruisers" anyway? I thought the Washington Naval Treaty ended battle cruisers...

  • @AviatorAcademy

Dont be so picky, you know I meant aircraft carrier, so quit trying to pick a fight.

  • and who cries for all the air support?

  • ahh americans u cant even walk and why do u try to fly? lol...

  • hahaha, like you have a better air force. are you fucking serious....still trying to figure out how to put the saddle on your jets eh? Fuck you

  • Christ, did the backseater go to the "Terry Van Haren" school of instructing or what??!?

  • There's nothing personal, you're in tandem seats and the student has most of the switches up front. This instructor was actually nicer than some orangutans I flew with in Vance AFB back in the 80's!

The three pillars of UPT education back then were Fear, Sarcasm, and Ridicule, and if you can't put up with it during a vanilla flight over the USA then you won't function in combat with the bad guys.

  • very true.... its just about the same still here. probably not as bad as in the '80s. most ips are pretty chill....some get your blood flowing.

  • indians..

  • ...nothing comes close...

  • Nice, I was the controller talking to these guys...Always an adventure at CAFB...

  • I think I was stationed at CAFB when this happened....

  • I dont think any of you were, and you are just trying to show off.

  • @callmeOD hahahah, yep...good ole CAFB.

  • CLASSIC video

  • Excellent training technique. Learning to fly a T-38 with a jack%$@ in the backseat screaming at you is a waste of time. If the student doesn't know how to run a checklist, what is he doing in the front seat of a Talon speeding toward the practice area at 450 knots? This is basic stuff that should have been cought in a CPT or simulator.

  • Good stuff. LOL!

  • what a fickin idiot.

  • Becoming an Air Force pilot is a very strenuous task and when you screw up, you get yelled at, especially when you have a O5 instructing your UPT course. If you get your feelings hurt because an instructor yells at you, you don't have what it takes to be an Air Force pilot.
