  • is it alder or agathis?

does it matter, some say that agathis is not even a tone wood?

  • do you have tab for the bit at 1.253? thats the best bit!

  • @TheBenman999 sorry I dont have any tabs for it but you can slow it down and figure it out, just some doublestops goin on

  • @yaron1234 ok thanks mate, by the way great job! :)

  • i really like how you made it your own piece, props :)

  • thanks man

  • A bit fast and the tone is fairly average, but well played.

  • Brilliant

  • I do have to point out something though. i believe your first chord is played wrong. its 766899

  • This should make all the Squier haters shut up. Not all Squiers are crappy guitars. This sounds amazing! I agree that there are SRV strats that dont sound this good. Of course you do need a good amp. That helps greatly.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • on every single one of your videos i have watched, you maintian impeccable tone. huge kudos to you sir.

  • dude, what kind of amp/effect do you use? that sound is awesome!

  • Dude that cover was amazing and a fender to boot. How long have you been playing?

  • Wow! Great job man, Stevie would definitely be proud. Proof that talent can make any guitar sound good. Keep up the blues!

  • Hey man, you play really really well!!!..on a song which is not easy at all to play...and on which you play your own licks, instead of just copying SRV...Great job but..(i know it's easy to criticize) i think you should slow down on some parts of the solos you play..It's not a race:-))..

  • stevie would be proud.

  • Great job !!!

  • Put a better guitar in your hand and it would be even better. Nice job.

  • @AlanDavidMusic

its not the guitar. its how you play it. Stratocaster was a crap guitar until stevie picked it up XD

  • @bigfleabag ummmm not to argue but what about Hendrix, Clapton, Buddy... all before SRV... all played strats. Just sayin.

  • @AlanDavidMusic and those people XD

Heck. Before the pro's started using the strat it was a beginners guitar O_O

  • Great job. This was awesome. I just uploaded my cover of this song too. Your tone is different from SRV's but it brings your own style to the song. Great control. 5 stars for sure.

  • that was awesome dude! i like to play that lenny to but shit i cant play it as well as you can!!

  • ilike how you made the song yours with tone and style but its still lenny. good on ya bro. and nice red pantt leg of death

  • nice!good tone quality

  • Thanks everyone again for the kind comments

  • @yaron1234 sounds great buddy , well done! what amp are you using? great post m8

  • You made it sing

  • where did you get the backing track from?

  • wonderful , so enjoyable , best cover I've heard.

  • AAMAZING!!!

  • You play very well. Who cares about if it's at "Squire". You obviously have good pickups. Sounds good to me. Kee playing the shit out of that guitar man!

  • your lenny tone on that squier is so much better than the people with 2000 dollar SRV strats on youtube

  • Tks, appreciate it very much. not that I encourage playing cheap guitars, but even if had a 5000 dollar guitar I think I would sound like myself, of course a nice guitar brings out the better of your playing

  • Dude you did a good job on the song but don't use squier they have horrible tone and sounds. Use Fender even though squier is by them.

  • Maybe he doesn't have enough money to get a real Fender Stratocaster...

  • this is a very good point considering im in the same situation!

  • got me there....

  • Dude it doesnt matter about your gear. You still kick the biggest ass.

  • that sounds pretty damn good. even if it is a squier.

  • man this is great! alittle fast in parts, but great nonetheless

  • try it in a clean tone

sounds cool but sounds cooler in a clean tone

  • this is almost the same version that he does at the El Mocambo!!!! Awsome!!

  • Thanks, thats what inspired me

  • Nice and silky.

  • You've got any tabs or instructional video??plsssss

  • Post one of Voodoo Child Slight Return, that one owns

  • But to comment on the vid, dude, your playing is really good. Some riffs seem to get a little lost, but I guess we just chalk up some points for 'feel', right? Overall, some really good playing, and like SquirrelsInAttic said, Stevie would be proud.

  • Great tone!

    what amp are you using?

  • Tks everybody for your great comments

  • That was some great playing behind that Squire. You have got a great deal of scales backed up in the memory banks of those hands. You played that like a second nature. Stevie would be proud to hear that. Thank You

  • the second half of that was great. vulc you needa get your ears checked lol

  • NICE!!!

  • try using a thicker gauge string like a 10 or a 12 to get more of that full bluesy sound.

  • I use 11's all the time

  • is that what youre using in this video? great playing by the way. might just be a poor pick up on whatever mic youre using to record the audio to your computer but it doesnt really sound heavy like that.

  • My means of recording suck, but I looked for the original recording, and I must say this vid doesnt do justice with the sound, might be the conversion to a smaller file or something

  • beautiful!!!

  • badass man Im also trying to master this song and you helped me quite a bit. good job keep it up

  • Well done man...Thanks for keeping SRV alive a little longer.

  • I left the window with the vid on and I thought it was srv playing...woah man.

  • you deserve a way better guitar

  • Whoa this is the affinity series??

    Awesome tone.

Was there any mods to the strat?

  • She was stock on this recording , i just got it the same day used put some strings and thats what came out.

  • Excellent tone. Your squire sounds awesome. Keep up the good work. Way to pay homage to a legend!

  • let me say fucking great from argentina,

  • you really make that Affinity sing. How does it compare to other strats?

  • Lets just say you have to work hard to make it sing, its a below average guitar, once modified it will compare with most new strats.

  • fantastic! I wish we could jam and have a few beers together.

  • Thank you!

I love jamming and beer, seems hard to find poeple to jam with nowadays, if there is no money involved-shame.

  • hey, thats really a squire? my first guitar was a fender squire but, i was never able to get that great strat sound like your getting. what amp were you using? great job mate!

  • I wish it was a fender and I was lyin' lol

  • Really great job,for once someone has done an SRV song without trying an failing to sound like him

  • Tks,

    really appreciate the kind comment

  • lol "burn the fender hater: :>

  • Sounds exactly like somebody who isn't SRV.

  • Dude I am speechless!!!! Awesome tone even for a fender! You have soul... Keep that up!

  • uhm stavrosole, are you kidding me?

    "even for a fender"

You obviously know very little about tone and guitars.

  • fender generally has a great tone. what are you talking about?

  • This song was written on a Fender Stratocaster...

  • THIS IS Fender sound... listen to hendrix before you right stuff dude^^

  • Stav... it's a shame, but we'll never knock Fender from it's undeserved #1 spot in the minds of many. It's a real shame no one plays G&L... now there's a 'Fender'...

  • Yeah there aren't enough overpriced Fender clones already.

Fender's #1 because they did it first; it's difficult to lead when you're following in another's footsteps.

Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, etc. did not get their sound using G&L's. Doesn't mean you can't get it with a G&L; it means you *can* get it with a Strat.

  • Honestly, I do appreciate the comment about their being too many Fender clones, but understand that G&L is more Fender than Fender. Check out the website - It's pretty amazing, learning about Leo Fender's final company.

All I wanted to illustrate with my previous point is the fact that people are still buying Fender for the name, and that's a shame when there are so many better brands, and one of them is actually Leo's last company.

  • I would say that there are brands that can "out-Fender" Fender is pretty much a sacrilege. G&L Strat and Tele are great copies are great, but they're still copies. It's like saying some SRV impersonator will top the original.

  • Again, I'm just illustrating the fact that G&L's aren't copies. Who's Leo copying? Himself?

Your use of the word sacrilege only emphasizes my point even more - people get extremely religious over a brand that, just in my opinion, doesn't deserve that kind of respect anymore. Back in the day? Sure - but these days there are so many good choices, and some are even better than Fender, as far as I'm concerned.

  • the tone is in the fingers boys, i've seen players play crappy instruments and still make them sound great

  • that is an awesom eosund for a squier!!!

  • sounds pretty nice for a squier

  • cool brother

  • good.just take out the distortion.

  • You took Stevie's and made it your own, man. There's something to be said for that. A few of the trills were a bit excessive. More notes doesn't necessarily mean better, but it's 5 stars anyways. good job.

  • beautiful

and stop arguing over who is better. that is not the point of music. artist are all unique and you cannot compare anyone.

  • Hey my future guitar sounds good :D

  • is that stock?

  • can u tell me where u got the backing track

  • it's all over the net

  • Link please?

  • you know he did that with a squier fender?

  • Just another proof that an expensive guitar don't make you good, it's all in the fingers!

  • no one ever said a good guitar makes you good.. but it certainly makes you sound better.

  • My point is that a good player can sound great on a bad guitar, while a bad player can sound horrible on a great guitar. People tend to think that you need expensive gear to sound like SRV, etc.

  • i'm aware what your point was but you can't try to take away from the place that high end guitars have. a great guitarist may be able to sound good with a squier, but he will still in the end sound better with a fender.

  • affinity series

  • LOL

  • Belle dinamiche, nonostante la registrazione, e ottimo tocco blues. Bravo!

  • AWSOME sound. You're tone is so near to Stevie. Nice playing too

  • very good.. my only comment.. which is more of a tip.. i believe you are playing the first two chords wrong.. but i'm not sure.. i'm just judging by your hand posistion and the sound

  • see I play it the same way he does and always think I'm doing it wrong... but it sounds pretty close... anyone know the first two chords for sure???

  • i'm not completely sure, but I think i play a B in the bass instead of an i. Then the chord will be something like Emaj7add13/B

  • the chords are Emaj13 to Amaj9 for sure

  • you're right. why did i write Emaj7add13?lol

  • because your right. its an Emaj7(13)

calling it an Emaj13 implies that the 9th and 11th can be added.. but they aren't and the 11the 11th is disonant with the 3rd.

and some people stick the 5th in the bass when they play this song, so thats your /B.

    :)

  • Really nice sound and tone:D what squier is it?

  • squire affinity- Indonesia

  • thanks everyone for your sincere comments

    appreciate it very much!

  • what kind of squier strat are oyu using:)?

  • very nice my friend! This shows it 10% guitar, 90% player, 100% soul. Very nice.

    And squire gets a +1 again! :P

  • BRAVO!

  • If it's the ONLY song I ever learn to play to the end, this would be it.

    What a sweet tune!

  • very good job, nice love it

  • sounds good man!

  • dang sounds pretty freakin good for a squier, but then again most of the tone is coming from your hands.

  • what kind of amp are you using to make it sound like that? or is it just the playing? its good man.

  • I'm really embarrased to tell what amp,but its a marshall dfx the ones made in Indonesia also this squire is made there as well and its a good guitar to start with

  • no need to be ashamed, it sounds awesome man

  • Best rendition that i have seen on You Tube well done.

  • Sorry, I just listened to the whole thing, this is awesome, I correct myself. I've been telling people tone is in the hands. Nothing else matters. This is proof

  • the faded jeans are key, nice job. It would be better if you cleaned up the tone a little. Check mine if you can thanks

  • you made it your own, nice

  • timing is ever ever ever so slightly off but i really enjoyed this good job

  • that's my favoriate song....

  • sounds amazing for a sqiuer

  • Good job man!!!

  • AMAZING!! how long did it take you to learn this?

  • Thanks.

I've been playing it for years on and off, so it just kinda rubbed in me I guess.

But anyway once U get the feel it shouldn't take long,It's only 2 chords

  • Relaxing and very fondle blues... Great!

  • Great job. At first I thought the tone was off a lot, but you made it happen with your hands. Nice cover.

  • Great job!

  • I was floored by this. Great job!

  • whut modifactions do u have to that strat and what amp r u using great videos keep tham coming :).

  • this is a stock sqiure strat no mods with 11's.

amp is a marshall stereo non tube amp.

  • i was so impressed when i first heard the song lenny and you really do it well~~~

I love you playing my friend~~

  • really good, good player thx

  • Nice! Very good!

  • call it whatever u want! and I dont think i need to prove anything to you!

  • I wouldn't call you a SRV Lenny, but Lenny I would.

I don't think you are even close to a Stevie Ray stylist.

I would like to see you do Floodin in Texas or something like that, and then maybe we'll see.

    Great pickin though, play always

  • Andyroot1976 - you're a twat! - don't knock what you can't compete with. Yaron is giving his time freely to share with us some fantastic playing.

  • is that squier stock r do u have alot done to it? are they ths stock pickups? love the tone and your licks keep on bluesen. is that a fendear amp your running

  • thanks,

the backing is fron an old Total guitar mag Cd,from 1997.

I'm sure u can find it on emule.

  • Hey that was great ! Could you tell me where did you get the background song ?

  • LOVELY PLAYIN MATE!

  • merci! Thanks for your touching comments.

And I agree with the too much gain in the intro, turning down didn't work with the vol I was playing so left it like that.Live is a different story

Anyway El Mocambo is my main inspiration in the last 13 years Ive seen it over 2000 times,so its just ringing in my head all the time.

  • great playing there, love the improv too. only thing i would say is probably a bit too much distortion, try turning down the guitar's volume control to clean up the chords, and turn it up for that extra sustain on the lead licks. great job otherwise.

  • nice. Love the El Mocambo bits! Need little less distortion on intro tho. Very cool

  • chapeaux! :-)

  • Thanks guys.

The squire is the affinity series i just bught used a day before, and yes it sounds great!

the action is set a mile high, very hard to play but i messed with the action and it just sounded good when it was ridicilously high, notice the sound on the last open E at the end of the song.

    thanks again.

  • which model squier strat? sounds good.

  • nice, chill tune

  • awesome job man. great feel.

    4 stars.
