  • Totally agree....she's stupid

  • good car bad review~ i've done enough research and test driving... you are biased still trying to play a political game? oh please, it's better than our stupid ugly american cars~ please make a better car and i will buy it!!

  • Horrible review, its a still lives up to the name of a Sport Utility Vehicle. If you buy a truck you get a truck ride. If you want a station wagon go buy a Ford Explorer or Honda Pilot.

  • God she's stupid...part time four wheel drive helps getting better mpg...why would you drive it in 4wd on the road ???

  • Ehhh, I have to lift my arm to switch a channel... my kids are weak and get carsick.... I gotta move a lever 3 inches... clearly this truck is horrible. I feel sorry for this chick's husband; imagine the constant complaining!

  • I'll buy it just becouse she did'nt like, go and review a Yugo.

  • had a 4runner since 97, best car ive ever bought, love it to death, cant get anything more reliable, fuck this lady

  • Stupid lady

  • The Toyota 4Runner can hold up to outdoor recreational use that would prove destructive to car-based crossover SUVs. Given that capability, the 4Runner stands out as a truly multipurpose vehicle with authentic, structurally based recreational capability. With three different formats to choose from, and a variety of specialized equipment, the 4Runner can be configured for a wide range of needs and budgets.

  • As a reviewer she shouldn't be biased, period. That's part of her job. She also needs to be objective and understand the purpose of the vehicle. The 4Runner can't be reviewed as a sedan. It is a truck meant for off-roading. It's like giving a VW golf a bad review because it doesn't fit your three kids, the dog and your groceries. Come on!

  • Never... just.... NEVER... in my life have I heard a review about so much NEGATIVITY in this video about a great vehicle... I'll be damn woman, go to HELL

  • Hey news flash, You don't buy a 4runner expecting to get an escalade. You buy a 4runner expecting an SUV that can take you anywhere, anytime.

  • only negatives is not good you you a leave it it's not worth it

  • Who needs a rear-view camera to park, really!

  • You forgot to mention how flippin' ugly it is. I waited two years for this new body style to come out and was so turned off by its ugliness that....Toyota didn't get $40k from me that it was gonna get.

  • What's a woman doing here?

  • exactly....

  • i have a 4runner and it rocks!!! unlike you like hating it all of it

  • I was really getting into typing my own hardliner comment when I scroll down the page and realize everybody's beaten me to the punch. It's good to see people still understand that much of the joy of owning a truck or car is the fact that you actually have to control it and not just sit on the high chair and daydream about stuff. This review is for the feminine segment of the truck market.

  • I have 4 Runner and I love it, don't listen to her.. She needs to be reviewing something other than cars and trucks, like girl, girl things..

  • its a 4runner, why is she doing the review? 4runners aren't made for little old ladies....she needs a lexus rx.....very bland and basic

  • this woman is a total idiot

  • It's a Toyota 4runner, not a range rover.

  • I love my 4Runner!

  • A Eddie Bauier Expedition doesnt even have soft touch materials.

  • you don't need luxury going off road. the plastic dash is actually a decision made with thinking, to avoid interior scratches when loading stuff. it is a truck based suv built for a purpose and excels at it. It is not a crossover that doesn't excel off-road compared to "body on frames" nor excel on-road compared to cars because it wants to stay in the middle. Trick is simple you want to go off road. get the 4runner. On-road, get a car. Crossovers shouldn't even exist.

  • Debbie Downer...

  • ugh consumer reports on youtube is so annoying!!

  • I find Consumer Reports review and particular her review of the updated 4 Runner to be very humors. I recently picked up a Consumers Reports Best & Worst New Cars updated reliability ratings magizine dated January 23,2012. Their own publication shows the 4 Runner to be off the charts for reliability in the last decade. But since it does not ride like a "crossover" and step in height is too high they cannot recommend it. Well I perfer a truck base suv, like the go anywhere 4Runner.

  • Top letting this woman to review cars!! She can't drive, and 4Runners are built for men.

  • I would love to see her do a review of a FJ40. That would be hilarious.

  • This review is just retarted. It's a truck not a soccer mom vehicle. All the things they found wrong is why people buy it. It's a off road truck not a paved suburban street driving vehicle. I love them and have been waiting for a little more interior room ro buy one. When my camry dies this is next. This is a mans truck plain and simple.

  • What a terrible review. She obviously doesn't know the purpose of a 4runner.

  • This lady doesn't need to be driving a 4runner. She needs a subaru or something like that. I bet she would complain about a pickup truck not being low enough to the ground

  • The 4Runner is in a class all it's own. You shouldn't and can't compare it to ANY other SUV.

  • @rarebasses the thing is, all american SUVs are pos luxury big wasteful cars made for looking like a dick on the highway. the 4runner/fortuner(internationally) is one of the VERY few SUVs that is truly a Sport *Utility* vehicle.

  • Everything she said was wrong with it is what I like about mine!

  • you don't need leather wrapped dash to go off road. the dash was made plastic to avoid interior scratches win using it to the extreme. everything makes sense in the design of the 4runner.

  • @jakerussel That & when it needs to be cleaned it makes it a million times easier, no need to worry about using this chemical etc, just some soap, water and a rag and your done.

  • This review is complete trash. You're complaining about hoe it handles like a truck yet you just said its on a truck chassis? OK I'm lost. Its like complaining about a Ferrari being fast.

  • I have the 04 w/ v8 love the thing I am only looking to upgrade to a new 4Runner when mine finally kicks the bucket

  • UGH!!! I LOVE 4 RUNNERS!!!!

  • You know what I think...I think you just hate the fact that it is now a mans car! And you just hate on it every way you can...This is why I just about cannot stand Consumer Reports reviews. You try to attack every little thing you can just to fill a review.

  • I'm confused, It's a truck, a 4WD Truck. everything they are complaining about is what it was designed to do. Buy a Pilot not a TRUCK based SUV if you don't like the way trucks handle.

  • So the Toyota 4runner is the best car i have ever owned. I am flat out disgusted and rather offended that you would say such BS about the best car to ever climb the earth.

  • thank you for this geriatric take on one of the best suv's ever made

  • I also disagree with most of this review. I love my 2010 4Runner. Mine is a Limited, so its always in 4 wheel drive. I'm 6' tall and find it very comfortable. The headroom is perfect. I've even taken rides while sitting in the back, and didn't need to tilt the rear seat back. I commute an hour ever day on I95 and always feel safe in heavy traffic. This 4Runner drives great even at high speed The doors could be heavier though. My 2008 had more solid doors. Tailgate tray is handy.

  • The car has bobbing motions? You are driving on a bumpy test rode smart one!

  • More people putting videos up about stuff they know nothing about.

  • Sweetie, just go back to driving your junky Buick. The 4Runner is a truck. This is the absolute worst review of the 'Runner that I've seen, for MANY reasons. So many reasons, in fact, that they won't all fit within the character limit of this comment box.

  • She has no idea what she talking about.

  • It's seems like everyone went on here to hear the reviewer praise the 4Runner. She didn't - and so what ? It's her personal opinion, that can be somewhat biased based on her personal use of a car, and clearly, the 4Runner doesn't make the cut for her, and that's ok - as long as it does it for you; that's really what matters. Also, keep in mind that she's doing and on road review, not and off road. Give her a break and be polite.

  • TAKE THIS VIDEO DOWN

  • Wow....she must work for GM!!!!

  • everything this woman is bitching about makes this car sound really fun, i love to feel the bumps in the road when i drive

  • @ishbush get a Porsche then.

  • What the hell is she talking about? I have 4 runner 2010 limited, and love this car...

  • the 2010-present Toyota 4Runner is assembled in

    Tahara, Aichi, Japan

  • I wonder if CR reads the comments that people post and evaluates their own reviews, this woman has no clue what she's talking about, if you want an suv to ride and feel like a minivan than this is the wrong truck lady, this is a real truck, one that can actually go off-road, this is not a freaking minivan lady, its a rugged suv not like most of the sissy "SUVs "out there, this is a really stupid review.

  • Something wrong about this review. Anyone know why???

  • @happyboyy8k I think she needed to research what the vehicle was all about before she did the review. Its ovious from the review that this is a true SUV. Not a SUV body on a car platform. So there was the mistake she made.

  • i a senior in college and most likely trading my volvo s60 in for a 4runner....this review is making me nervous though lol. i've only heard good things about 4runners until now... i live in a snowy place during winter so i am nervous about the rust but would mostly be using the car as a normal vehicle for to and from school, work, going snowboarding on weekends, and we have a house out in the mountain kind of area.... thoughts anybody? i liked it bec i hear they last forever

  • @bluehoopz44 Completely disregard this review. The 4Runner is an amazing vehicle inside and out. If you have any questions about it, feel free to PM me!

  • The reviewers at consumer reports are such wieners.

  • this car is awesome and the partial AWD is better than full time AWD imo because when you don't need AWD using FWD helps fuel economy

  • car sick? fuck you

  • @ziongear. I agree. Im a 18 year old college freshman with a V6 RWD SR5 2011 Toyota 4Runner. I dont need the gadgets nor the v8 engine and status.. Just use it for city road drive, get to keep it on campus in college, and impress my new friends.. Maybe when i become successful, ill upgrade to luxury Escalade Platinum

  • While I am sure it must be nice to have things placed in your lap, like a brand new vehicle your parents obviously bought for you, but a 4runner is an aggressive SUV. If you just need something to get around a campus, get a car-also, if you're not in an area where you experience all four seasons (and ALL of the elements of said seasons)get a car. Im sure youll get the Escalade for a grad gift...just don't work too hard!

  • I'm wary of reviewers that complain about having to actually make a small physical or mental effort. 'it's too high to get into easily', 'i have to shift into 4 wheel drive', 'the knobs are too far away', 'the radio buttons don't line up'

  • I love the 4Runner, but the review is accurate. People who Know the great traits of the 4runner is different than your average buyer. This review is for the people who Buys SUV for looks, not off-roadness. The review basically says: If you are not a traditionalist, please look elsewhere, it does not fit you. Her job is to do exactly what she says

  • Love the 4Runner hate this review.

  • Consumer Reports should start reviewing their own reviews. This SUV matches a very specific niche and delivers what they want. Its not supposed to be a Mini-Van with a higher ride height like every other SUV on the market.

  • whoever wants sweet ride in the city, do not watch this review. It's a macho-man's car or tough-ladies transport.

  • @50SPQR Test drive bro - develop your own facts. A lot of auto reviews come down to personal preference.

ie: I like simple interiors...I like the sporty seat config rather than the "upright" style she was talking about in other SUV's etc....

  • The 4Runners predecessor was much better!! Please Toyota redesign soon!

  • Shaddap cr

  • She stated the bad things about the car and you all toyota lovers can STFU cuz damn that truck really sucks...

  • @atlneptun The Toyota 4Runner is legendary in reliability and off road, as she stated it climbed the rock hill with ease. Toyota wanted to keep the 4Runner an off road truck and yet make it comfortable at the same time. So of course it doesn't have perfect on road manners. But they can go over 300k miles easily.

  • Herr old ass iis rufless LMFAO!!

  • ITS REAL 4X4 SUV. NOT A CADDI. STOP BITCHING

  • Hi, I'm Jennifer Stockburger for Niss...I MEAN CONSUMER REPORTS!!

  • Toyata SMH! -.-

  • Consumer Reports, you can do better.

  • Take your Escalade to the mall sweetie. I have a Trail that kicks a#@.

  • @peterablock A 74 year old with a Trail? Keep your BS to your self pal.

  • This lady is a shill for the UAW.

  • Toyota tries to be too much, and they fail at everything.

  • @saboobuu no shit sherlock, that's why they lead GM's annual sales by 2 million cars don't they?

  • Is she what I think she is ? My dad owns this 4runner and it's epic. Ayo' pick a different model if you don't like this one. Mine has LCD / Navigation, The rare view camera shows on the screen. HENCE: Giving us CRYSTAL clear image. Also, The problem you had in climbing in the vehicle was because of your short height. My grandma' climbs in with ease. Even though I agree with you at the point when you said that the roof does comes in the way of visibility. But still I won't go against the vehicle.

  • She has no clue...I bought a 2010 limited and just love it....my other car is Porsche 911, for weekend only though...

  • She does a decent review. Glad she didnt memorize Toyota's 4Runner talking-points.

  • Leave the lady alone! She's just doing her fucking job. Something she has,(a job) compared to some of you..

  • Horrible Review! Pathetic! Boring! Pointless! Lying! Stop reviewing vehicles cause you are by far the worst out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she's a ford a lover thats why she's so f up

  • Why did my last comment get pending approval? Anyways, this woman cleary doesn't know what she is talking about. My 05 four runner is great. I actually enjoy the uneven pavement when we get to bounce a little. Plus I have the V8 which beats the Expedition when they think they can boss me around on the highway. I like to slow them down, get them upset, than speed off knowing they can't beat me. HAHA!!

  • Holt sh!t.....is she purposely looking for something to complain instead of telling us what this car can do?

  • just bought one...reliable, powerful, lots of cargo room and smooth. great SUV. definitely better than all the unreliable American SUV!

  • I hate how this woman just destroyed the 4 runner .... I think shes a ford explorer driver.....

  • Cannot disagree more

  • WRONG WRONG WRONG....

  • Bah, terrible review. I bought a 2011 4Runner Trail and haven't found it's equal.

  • I have had one for almost a year now, It is the best car I have ever had. It's stylish, and gets good gas on the interstate. I average about 23 on the interstate. All around awesome car.

  • I dunno...seems the reviewer was nitpicking on inconsequential matters. I would love to own this SUV. I find it hard to believe someone truly interested in purchasing one of these would be turned off by all she complained about. They weren't deal breakers by any stretch of the imagination. This 4Runner is a keeper...one you'd want to own as long as you could keep her running. That's the mark of a great vehicle. My one gripe is cost...in SR5 trim, I rarely see them for less than 29K.

  • stupid car---pathfinder the best..

  • This lady is making the 4Runner look bad and in reality it's one of the best SUV I have ever driven and is truly a remarkable vehicle.

  • its because con. report always has an agenda.

  • consumer reports always has an agenda its called $

  • I think I'm gonna cry. Real 4x4s are extremely rare nowadays, don't complain about it having a part time system, noisy and rough ride. If you want to get the kids at school or groceries, you won't get this. Am I the only one that researches for suvs that can actually tow and go off road without breaking the car-based frame in two?

  • lol. seriously, this woman expects this TRUCK to be a rav 4. if you want a smooth, car-like ride, buy a highlander. she really is finding flaws b/c it doesnt ride like a crossover

  • This lady is an idiot. She doesn't get that it is SUPPOSED to be different than the cushy car based SUVs that everyone else offers. It's SUPPOSED to be rugged. Notice that she's not even the one driving when it goes up the rock hill. What a moron.

  • "the materials are hard and aren't as nice as some more expensive vehicles" wut was the person trying to confirm their own stupidity, lame review consumer reports hates toyota anyways anyways and they're reviews are usually pretty terrible. The 4runner is not a soft roader i woulda bought a forester or outback and don't want a grand cherokee cuz of obvious reasons and the base model gc is crap

  • Consumer reprotd heats toyota

  • The 4 runner must have really gone downhill I have a 2004 4Runner and I know it does not pitch from side to side like the one in this video did. Crazy. I am looking into the Highlander now. The newer Highlanders look almost as big as my 04 4runner does.

  • "It lacks the [interior] materials of a more expensive vehicle..." LOL - Well OBVIOUSLY!! It's not a 20k more Lexus! CR seems to miss the point with the 4Runner. Toyota has another midsize SUV - The Highlander, which addresses almost every concern she has about the 4Runner handling/ride AND which is why Toyota can build the 4Runner in the first place. Like others have said, its a true off-road vehicle!! Get this lady her PT Cruiser back...

  • LOLZ WTF handling? shit the 4runner has great handling O.O parking it is easy unless you're a retard that can't park for shit then you could complain but still this car is great and very sexy if you get the blizzard pearl :3

  • It is very apparent that this woman has an agenda. Perhaps for an american auto company etc. We all know Consumer Reports are Biased in this manner.

  • Well she is entitled to her opinion.... everything she complains about is just DUMB. The 4Runner is one of the last remaining "REAL" SUVs, along with the Pathfinder, Xterra, FJ cruiser, and Tahoe/Yukon. Anyone who actually needs to use their SUV for anything other than driving to the mall will not mind any of these minor "issues" (most of them aren't REAL issues).

  • OMG.. in conclusion what she is saying is that the new 4runner sucks. I have it and it is the best SUV I've had in a while.

  • Lady, do us a favor, don't review vehicles.

  • Go review a Highlander. Truck based SUV means it will be more like a truck and less like a minivan dumbass!

  • you prob. need some glasses if you don't can't see shit

  • All of the things she's complaining about:

    - Ingress/egress height

    - P/T 4 wheel drive

    - Truck-like handling

    - Visibility

    - Dash buttons not lining up.

    - Rear view camera image too small.

All things my grandma would complain about. This is no pavement princess, it's a proper 4x4. It's a young person's truck who wants to use it for what it's intended. If you want a grocery getter/offspring shuttle that handles all nicey nice on the road, buy a minivan, ie: Honda Pilot.

  • this review sucks too much complaining i have a 4runner 2005 the best suv ever

  • People like this are exactly why most manufacturers started making these weak wannabe SUV's. People like the 'image' of guys that drive real SUV's like the 4runner, but didnt actually like the truck characteristics or need any real off road ability.

Its amazing to me that 'posers' actually spawned a new market...

  • Comment removed

  • I ride it 60 miles everyday, but does not make me carsick. What makes me sick is your horrible and false review.

  • @HELLOWORLDNZ2010 She said it would make her kids in the back carsick. Can't speak for the 4 runner but the ride in the back of a Nitro is much worse than in the driving seat. BTW she was talking about a vehicle, not your mother. Keep your strong language to yourself buddy.

  • absolute rippin' dorks

  • wow she has no idea what the 4runner is about --- its not a full time 4x4?!?!?!!? soft suspension?!?!?! durable interior?!?!?! why don't u get a highlander if u want a city suv

  • Blah blah blah, this isn't a car you use to pick up your kids from school. Sheesh.

  • So many users are complaining about the reviewer, rather than the vehicle at hand being reviewed. For one thing my aunt bought a new 10 model, first time getting in she is right about height. The growing market of suv's using car based platforms is all too common and the need for real suv(body on frame) is diminishing. I like the styling which is also it worst disadvantage because visibility is poor with high dash nd window belt line. Interior is just average due to hard plastics but expected.

  • @itzmando Well....guess what. A truck based SUV has a high step in height.

Complaining about that is like complain a minivan has too many seats.

    Interior could be better

  • terrible on-road bias to this review. Considering that this is an off-road vehicle I blame the suckiness of this review on an uninformed reviewer :)

  • WOW bitch some more about a great car....

  • I want one...period.

  • kk this is not called reviewing this is callled destroying the sales value.. my dad has this car and i drive it im 17 and its good ,..

  • this is not called reviewing this is called makin the car look bad ! my dad has this car im 17 and i love this bitch so stop hatin man damn!!!

  • Unless this chick is just a pessimistic presenter, I use to like this car before i saw this

  • @Kwabby88 They didn't talk about any of the 4Runners real heritage, or it's off road attributes, which most people buy the 4Runner for, and in inclement weather. I have a 94 and it's really indestructible I look forward to getting an SR5, later this year of next if everything goes right.

  • This is why women shouldn't do car reviews...whine whine whine. This truck will stand out for years to come as Toyota's revamped 4Runner model

  • I WENT AND TEST DROVE ONE THE INTERIOR IS THE NICEST IVE EVER SEEN I AM SOLD ON THIS SUV NOT OVER SIZED FEELS LIKE A TRUCK WITH SUN ROOF AND ROLL DOWN WINDOW IN BACK AND RECLINING BACK SEATS LEATHER ON THE DOOR COME ON IM GETTING ONE TRAIL EDITION

  • @COMBATBOOOTS I'm gonna get the SR5 later this year. I have a 94 that's indestructible, has 335k on it.

  • This review is not helpful at all. Sure, if you want to compare the 4Runner with a crossover and review it based on the feel of a crossover, the 4Runner will lose every time. I own the 2010 and all of the things she complains about are things I like about mine. This is a body on frame SUV. It's extremely solid and the high stance makes you feel larger than anything else on the road. The handling is amazing and the power is awesome. Since owning one for over a year now, I still enjoy it!!

  • Thank heavens that Toyota still makes a REAL off-road SUV!

It's NOT made for caramel macchiato drinking, mall cruising, cell-phone stuck-to-the-ear women.

    Get a Lexus RX already.

  • lol it looks like you're riding on a rubber band.

  • The lady is definitely anti import. I bet she would give a chevy a better review! Haha! Looser!

  • i like it but its more expensive than the nissan pathfinder or the honda pilot

  • The reviewer's on camera demeanor leaves alot to be desired. The reviews I've read from owners do not support her point of view. Frankly, the more rugged interior features of the 4Runner are exactly what many find attractive about it. It has the character of a true off-road vehicle, whereas most modern SUVs are just glorified minivans. There are enough SUV "posers" out there. Thankfully, the 4Runner continues to stand in contrast to the over-the-top luxury SUVs.

  • Thanks for an honest review. I agree with almost everything you said, especially with the brake dive and your comments about the interior. And yes, I'm a 4Runner owner. For what it's worth, Toyota should have kept the fulltime transfer case and center differential in all trim levels like they did on the 4th generation.

  • @EvenSteven2004 Thats exactly what made the 4th gen the worst 4runner. They've brought back a true 4wd system for this new one, not an open center AWD system. With options like a locking rear as well, this thing is much more off road oriented...

  • never seen such a complainer before.

  • I have a 2011 Limited, and it's amazing. I love the durability of Toyota. My last 4Runner, a 2000 Sport Edition, has 196,000 miles on it, and it's still going strong.

Sure, the price tag is a bit higher than most of the car based SUVs, but the durability is there. It will go anywhere you point the headlights. If you're just running the kids to soccer practice, grab a highlander. If you actually leave the house when the snow is flying, then the 4runner is more your style.

  • @nah2323 You said it! I actually leave the house when a tropical storm is forecasted just to drive down A1A and see the debris on the beach. My kids, the dog and I live for this!!! "Put it in 4-wheel drive, dad!"

  • She lost all credibility when she didn't drive it up the "rock hill"..keep reading the script dummy...and go get back in your Suburu, which I'm sure is your ultimate mall crusier.

Maybe Toyota should send CR a check...so they start comparing apples to apples, instead of comparing a body on frame to a unibody....just shows you well they truly "test" products.

  • TAKE THIS VIDEO DOWN!!!

  • i do not like her at all .

  • This lady sounds like a prius driving greenie liberal from san franfreakshow. Godforbid she sit inside an FJ Cruiser!

  • PLEASE TELL TOYOTA TO IMPROVE THE DRIVING POSITION BEFORE I BUY ONE. Also the belt line can be lowered some so side visibility is better.

  • @Zinizzle Don't buy one, you don't deserve a 4Runner... Go drive a minivan, miniman....

  • I hate this review and this lady!

  • I WAS excited about this car, Debbie Downer...

  • never seen such a bad review before

  • I don't want no damn stupid push button or dial for the 4x4, I want a manual lever so I can feel it engaging. Not all this technology crap for the lazy, who might break a finger nail putting it in 4 wheel drive.

  • 330k on my 4Runner nothing done. Toyota is the best!

  • So this review means you hate it- but you're using it to haul two boyfriends in the back!? wow.

  • i actually like this review, not because i dont like the 4runner but because she didnt sugar coat anything! and thats what you dumbasses are use to. SUGAR COATED REVEIWS! this was straight fowared. she basically said let me give you all the pros and cons but im not gonna tell you go out and buy this car because it can be a POS.

  • I love Consumer Reports. But this is not showing it's 4x4 capability (what it's made for) I would like to see more then just that rock hill, for off road use.

  • This BITCH must drive a fucking hybrid cause i think she knows NOTING of SUV's or 4x4. thanks for wasting 2 mins of my life. now take this video down.

  • Well of course it has bad handling at high speeds. It's an off road vehicle not a corvette. And especially that "high step" to get in. Ok, sure it's high, but at least you don't scrap the underneath of your car. And of course the interior is plastic. It's water proof and if you wanted luxury you would get a cadillac or a Bentley. You complain way to much.

  • This lady is probably affiliated with the tea party. I bet her reviews on domestic brands are a lot better. I've had my 2010 4Runner SR5 since early this year and I could not be happier with it. The only thing I want to do with it is take it on the snow this year! Wooo HOOO!!!

  • @abqguy04

I live in Buffalo and had my first chance to take on snow these past couple days since I got my '10 4Runner. It whooped the snows' ass. I never even had to resort to 4 wheel drive and with the traction control I had to struggle to make the 4Runner spin.
