Spent hours listening to these remixes yesterday, finally was filled with so much epicness I decided to face Red again. My highest level was 73 and after an epic struggle, I defeated Red for the first time. The feeling of watching Venasaur's health bar drop to 0 after Typlosion's Blast Burn was the greatest feeling I have had to date.

Since this is a really old drawing from 1996, possibly even from shortly before Red and Green were released in Japan. Pokemon designs weren't yet standardized then, as you can also see from the in-game sprites in those games (including our Red and Blue versions as well).

True, but I think that a significant part of people defending Red is because of the tendency of other fans to mix him up with Ash. Which is just not right.

I can't respect people who boast about beating Red when they knew about his party/moveset ahead of time and fought him with a party of lvl 100 ubers that they either hacked or traded for. To me, the path to defeating Red has always been marked with defeat after defeat, endless hard work, and finally, triumph.

Red can beat any trainer, anywhere, just by looking at them. He conquered the 8 gyms of Kanto without speaking. He destroyed Team Rocket without uttering a word. He swept the Elite Four with a powerful silence. And in the midst of his rivals bragging about doing it first becuase he left the takedown of Team Rocket to Red, Red crushed his rival for the eighth time leaving his rival crying with anger.

Red will always be the god of Pokemon.

It WAS hard to beat him, though.

Red still is awesome, though. Since he knows how to raise his Pokemon with love without coddling them, like ASH does (Ash's way results in no real growth, they just stay happy, that's all).
