  • Love your work and love how the girl in the start of the vid is trying to save on materials by wearing a thong. Just kidding, she needs a belt :).

  • realy like your video Im trying to get something going here in garden grove california for the garden grove community garden and also create a group of gardeners in the area to promote more in gardening in the communities.

  • Where are you guys doing that permaculture project?

  • It is only about profits in systems controlled by debt creation... if cost efficiency was allowed to bring supply and demand into equilibrium through human action as the AUSTRIAN ECON. SCHOOL shows us, then we would have discovered permaculture 100 years ago before the 16th amendment and the federal reserve system destroyed production in this country.

Permaculture inhibits the powers of government from creating social capital by sustaining our needs first.. it is a constitution.. Jeffersonian

  • I don't know when the "fair share" ethic started in the permaculture ethics. . . because it wasn't original. What was? Profit. Want to see permaculture take off as a design system that enriches our lives. Introduce the idea that the systems are spectacularly productive and sustainably profitable.

  • @Vettezuki "Fair Share" is actually original to Permaculture and its ethics, maybe you need a refresher course at PRI.

  • I think it is a valid point that some people are turned off by the "subculture" around environmentalism (which is not necessary to be an environmentalist). it's hard for people to picture themselves working alongside people they don't fit in with. I confess to trying to find the least new agey permaculture video to show friends who are interested in taking a course with me but who might not go if they think they're gonna be hearing new age stuff.

  • Hate to break it to you man, but humans have to kill each other or die off naturally. Fighting for things, competition against one another, is the nature of life on this planet. ALL life. I'm a huge proponent of Permaculture, but you cannot expect world peace. The best bet would be regulated birth, like one child per family. Without death and competition, overpopulation is inevitable. My point to all this is that Permaculture is not necessarily the answer to all ills. Only many of them.

  • @FallenKain So, my plan is.. start a permaculture community, try to be as self suficient as possiible, stock pile birth control to keep birth rate sustainable, and weapons so we can fight off the looters when everything around us falls apart. Sounds cynical doesn't it? Sigh. I hope it doesn't come to that but I wouldn't be surprised.

  • @pseudonamed Sounds sensible to me ; )

  • The only limited resource is creativity

  • I agree that ScopedOUT2 has a point with his post, however it's a superficial perspective on the part of society -those that have been subjected to social programming and not broken through it yet. It's not the truths about being hippie, vegan, etc. that these people are up against. It's the perceptions and stigmas that are given to them by the powers that be. This lifestyle is not good for current businesses and economics, that's the crux of the matter. So when will we claim our own destinies?

  • 2nd post... to continue - to get the people to listen, there is only one great motivator to an otherwise complacent populous... and that is fear, or at least justifiable concern. Use the Hegelian dialectic, just as all governments and controllers do. Make the populous abundantly aware of the consequences of their choices, i.e., that their $.99 hamburgers have dire repercussions on the environment and future sustainability, etc. and then offer them a safe and sustainable (the only) alternative.

  • ScopedOUT2- the image speaks for itself.. their message attracts anyone that loves the earth. the reason they are "hippie-like" is because the 'hippie lifestyle' is the way to go. it could be less hippie if people wanted it to be, but why ? whats wrong with being hippie? and as for being vegan? if you have any knowledge about the toll slaughtering animals and using their products has on the earth AND us, you'd know why they're promoting being vegan. google "A Delicate Balance" , its enlightening

  • I have to say ScopedOUT2 has a well reasoned post. It has always surprised me that those who say they are for diversity, are the least respectful of those who do not do exactly as they think they should. Permaculture should be spread to as many as possible. Great video post also.

  • yayyer :)

  • Who is this person?

  • It is not the education. It is cooperation. Educating people is white burgeoise enviromentalist thinking. It never worked out.

  • You asked a question: "How do we attract people to educate them?"

This is what you need to do:

    #1 Fix your image

    #2 Stop being hippie like

#3 Stop attracting only hippie like followers.

#4 Don't present yourselves as vegan

#5 Encourage people with positive reinforcement, instead of bashing the majority of people who do damage without knowing it.

You need to appeal to people through their ideals and not present something which will turn them off the minute they hear or see you guys!

  • @ScopedOUT2

Or you could increase the accessibility of the message instead of changing who you are so that an ignorant person can clump you into an archetype. Its about the message not the practitioners. #5 was the only relavent one. the type of person who is turned off by their conception of stereo types is probably not the kind of person interested in this sort of thing anyway.

  • @ScopedOUT2

you have got your point. But actually these guys here are not doing any of these 5 things! If you look around in youtube for another decent video on permaculture you will find that this is one of the best, not touching either of the 5 no-no's on which I do agree.. If you found another good video do share your wisdom please, I need to do a presentation on permaculture this weekend to a group of people and am looking for material... Cheers!

  • @ScopedOUT2 ya... but they are CORRECT even if self-righteous

  • @ScopedOUT2 Why are hippies bad? I've seen people in this videos called hippies and abused in the comments, for SINGING. Singing!

I agree that vegan fanatics can be incredibly obnoxious; but the hippie hate seriously needs to go.

  • es lo q quiero ..hacer..lo mejor super.

  • Nice work anemariaakernes.

  • Why use Toxic Leaching Polluted Plastic? Its not very Eco-Biological friendly. When you touch & breath the plastic, it comes into you.

  • I love what you are doing. You are living my dream. I crave to be so close to something so meaningful to the real beauty of life. My disability confines to the indoors but I love watching videos like yours. I feel like I am there! :o)

Stay the way you are and realize how blessed you are to be able to do what you are doing. Thanks so much for sharing!!
