I have a car and two motorbikes, not sure why you'd assume a cyclist hasn't got a car? I cycle because I love cycling, and we have equal rights to car drivers and are subject to the same laws. Don't take this video personally, most car drivers are great around cyclists. Oh, also, in the UK cycling on the pavement (sidewalk) is illegal.
Where I'm from, the appropriate traffic law reads like this.
For turning left in a roundabout, if there are multiple lanes you must approach in the left lane and stay in that lane. You must indicate a left turn on your approach to the roundabout and keep the indicator on until you have left the roundabout.
I think by definition you changed lanes in front of a car who was entering a roundabout. but it looks like you were trying to do the right thing and I'm glad nobody was hurt.
@jacksonjdr94 From the shadows he indicated right going into the island the left lane was for 'left only' and the middle lane was 'straight on and right' (He wasn't doing a left turn). There is in very few countries that have laws about indicators, and I can say it isn't law in the UK (but covered in the highway code).
I wouldn't enter a roundabout until any vehicle, peddle-powered new age contraption has left that front quarter of my car, bike ie. they're not to my right.
@FindingMozart no laws about indicators? you've gotta be kidding me.
I wouldn't enter a roundabout if a vehicle was approaching from the right in the same lane i want to use.
the cyclist was basically using both lanes.
but as a general rule. don't change lanes in the middle of a roundabout. even if it's a big roundabout and you're operating a small vehicle... it's a round-about not a "go-straight-through-in a-straight-line-about"
During nights I fucking use 2 strobing lights one of them being fenix on superfast strobing for extra blinding action and some fuckers still goes out lol.
Usually i blame the drivers, there are some stupid ones out there. In this case i don't. You were foolish to cross into that lane, if a car had done it there would have been trouble. You belonged in the lane you were in as the one you were changing to belonged to the cars pulling out of the two lefts. You could have seriously hurt yourself mate.
Did you give a LEFT arm signal after you cleared the exit before the one you took? If not you should have done really at about 0:48 (bigguychappers is on the right tracks IMO)
@nigglenoo Yep, I always signal (very occasionally it's safer not to, taking your hand off the bars and fingers away from the brake). Always signal left here though after the last exit.
@jonredhornet well in that case I apologise, she even had her window open so the Airzound must have been really loud for her, maybe she did not think the noise was you? I have found a loud Oi! is quite effective at close quarters, gets more notice taken of it than a bell at least.
Maybe also being in the left lane of the RAB would have helped, she could have been assuming you stay in the right lane on the road you were entering, but OTOH you are more visible to her in your position.

If you wanted right of way in the first lane, you should have crossed into it before the lines started (or just earlier).
I think if you were that worried, you should have just kept in your lane and changed further on up. Bit blind being in the left so early (your reasoning too I think) so I would have stayed in L2.
@AnotherCopierOfM13 I would've taken the exact same line here as there were a number of cars who seemed to be creeping into lane one. Classic SMIDSY (or should that be SMIDHY?)
@AnotherCopierOfM13 I disagree, for this roundabout the line is spot on. It's also dangerous to cycle across the nose of cars who are waiting to pull out, much safer to give yourself time to take evasive action if necessary. This driver simply didn't see me, she was looking behind me and if I were in lane one the threat to my safety would have been worse.
@bigguychappers I'd say the arm signal was sensible, so people didn't think he was going straight on. I'd say that the fault possibly at 0.49 was for still being in the middle lane. Now I'd of probably stuck there too, so there's a bit more room encase someone pulls out. If a car/motorbike was in that lane they would probably have continued around in it and therefore the audi would of been okay.
On a bike though, we don't generally have the speed to stick on the outside lane :P.
@thomase1 ........It was a bit of poor judgement on the driver's part...sort of an ignorance around cyclists possibly. Maybe, try pulling back over after you've past the junction and know no one is doing that, pull over sooner before the junction....or just carry on doing what you're doing as I think it's sensible. Just keep an eye out either way :P
why don't you just ride the fucking bus that's right in front of you it makes no sense to me!!!!!!!

@infinitewobdrahpa
that makes no sense to me either but you're entitled to your opinion.

@infinitewobdrahpa The 'fucking' bus? Wow if I'd known it was one of them I'd definately have caught it!
On a more serious note, if you don't understand the actions of somebody else, that's fine. As long as you drive safely we don't have a problem.

I don't think I agree.
You were both crossing broken lines.
If you wanted right of way in the first lane, you should have crossed into it before the lines started (or just earlier).

@drsquirrel0 Ah I see your point, probably would have been better for me to stay in lane 2 there.

That's just as likely to happen when you're driving on that island, you have to have you're wits about you.

your right arm signal at 0:46 gave the wrong impression? se thourght you were carrying on around the roundabout or taking lane 2.
