Luck and the good work of national and international authorities has been prevented a worldwide pandemic in the last decade. SARS could be contained because the symptoms arised before the patient became contagious. H5N1 has not been accumulated the mutations yet necessary for human to human transmission. H1N1 seems to be less pathogenic as thought in the beginning. It is a matter of time until a pandemic will occure. There is no overreaction of the health authorities or science community.
