All I know is that I rarely missed a chance to find Hitch's take on any subject. His world experience in his 62 years well exceeds that of most - certainly of mine and I am only a year younger.
I often did not agree with Hitch but I always had my thinking provoked and usually learned something. I will miss his periodic columns in Canada's National Post.

@Kavono1 So how can a person be brainwashed when they know both sides of the pendulum. If I speak from my own experiences and know why I know why I know, that would mean Im making a conscious choice. People become brainwashed when they move with the times and change right and wrong every 50 years.

@Kavono1 I enjoy life as well, even though you may not know God doesn't mean you can't have a good life, right now your in a world that has both Good and Evil in it. I love God, and Im not being controlled, I know right from wrong, its as simple as that. Science is but a tool given to us by God, it can't be greater than a being that goes far beyond a being that we cant even completely understand.

I'm not going to argue with some of the nonsense being posted in this comment section by people who clearly didn't like Hitch a whole lot. Instead, I'm going to revel in his life and work and character. The beauty in death from an atheist perspective is I know he's perpetually gone, but our memory of his wit and charm, razor-sharp reasoning, and unmatched moral teachings will live on unabated. That's a true afterlife, and if we all aspired to that the world would be a much better place.

@EUMAN10 Christianity employs racism, sexism, homophobia, violence, the use of heaven and hell as source for being kind (being kind just because you will be rewarded or if you sin you are gonna sufer for an eternity), forbids reasoning (if you reason you may not have faith, therefore not worthy of heaven)... anyways, it's better off without it! Now, if a family that value themselves is christian, one thing is not related to the other.

I had started watching some videos of him giving speeches about religion on youtube, and my first thought was "This guy is a genius; I want to meet him" It really saddens me to know that I never will. He was truly a great man.
